I received same email however when trying to use does not apply the discount, it still shows a fee to be paid.

    Anyone else having issues?

    “model employee arriving on time”

Trip must be completed after 9am 🤔

  • won't let me change the date and time past 30 days though says up to 90 days

  • Excludes trips to the airport is that right

    • Could you get around this by booking the uber to somewhere super close by to the airport? Ie. Tullamarine Mcdonalds in Melbourne

would assume anywhere outside their airport zone is fine

    Terms & Conditions

Offer is for up to $100 off your first trip on Uber Reserve. Offer will be applied to the trip fare only (excluding tolls, surcharges, levies, airport, booking, cancellation or wait fees, or any other fee or charge). Trip must be completed between 9am and 5pm AEST between 19 - 21 September 2023. Limited to intended recipients of this email only. Offer is applicable for rides taken on a personal or business profile.

Uber doesn’t guarantee a driver partner will accept your ride request. Your ride is confirmed once your driver partner has accepted your trip request and you receive that confirmation. If a driver partner has accepted your trip request, Uber does not guarantee that a driver partner will arrive at your chosen pick up time. Check the Uber app for availability in your home city or future destination

What exactly is the point of it then lol.

Literally every time I've ever booked an Uber Reserve, the driver has cancelled last minute, and I've had to rebook with a regular Uber X, and usually ended up late. Completely defeats the purpose of having a reservation service.

  • Got this but not applying on the screen, even chucked in an arrive by time before 5pm

  • Not working for me

I've never understood the point of this service. It doesn't actually reserve a ride for you, it sends out a ride request just before the time you "reserve".

How is it any better than just requesting the ride at the time? It seems bizarre they'd be specifically promoting this, have they changed they way they run it (e.g. giving the pre-booked rides priority over everyone requesting it in "real-time")?

Plus it seems extremely expensive whenever I've checked it

Somewhere there's a disconnect within uber I suspect

I think they have changed the way it works. I was a bit sceptical for the exact same reason you've stated, but I decided to make use of this offer for my morning trip to work. Worst case scenario, driver doesn't turn up, then I can take the train as usual, best case scenario, I get a free ride to work.

So I put in the request yesterday at around 1:15pm. Within a few minutes, I got a notification confirming my ride was allocated, with the driver's name and photo appearing. The driver arrived about 10 minutes early, and despite the T&C saying the promo doesn't apply to fees etc., my total charge for the ride was $0 (even the toll got covered). During the ride, the driver was telling me how before me, he had managed to line up two relatively long Reserve trips, so he'd had a pretty good run.

I'm going to guess the reason Uber are happy to burn $100 is they have changed their product and they want to dispel the general idea that jobs only get released a few minutes before the actual time.

Personally, I think they've done a bad job getting this point across with their new ads (the Ronnie Chieng ads), so maybe this is a more effective use of their marketing budget (word of mouth) - it's certainly worked in getting me to talk about it here, even though I feel a bit dirty and used lol.

As for the service itself, I'm still a bit sceptical. What's to stop the driver from withdrawing from the trip 10 mins before the trip if they find a better trip job? Maybe there is a disincentive, but once again, it's poor marketing from Uber.

      • $0 for me too, no tolls or fees charged

      • Ah thanks for the correction. That does sound like a vast improvement.

  • I'm an Uber One Member, never used Uber Reserve and received the offer.

Reserving a ride with Uber is crazy overpriced
Showing as $35 to reserve a ride from my house to the pub tomorrow
If I were to take a DiDi now it would cost $8…

  • Just got a $60-odd ride home in a Tesla Y. Wouldn't pay it normally, but happy to take it for free.

  • Wow I got this! I was hoping it was reserve by, rather than complete drop by date so I could use for my wedding but no such luck

I reserved a ride yesterday for Thursday afternoon. I checked the reservation tonight and it said "Failed".

Best to check your reservation beforehand because Uber didn't send me a notification or email about the reserve failing.

  • I got charged double booking fee, 1 for reserving in advance and another for actually booking the trip. Uber says this to cover the cost of wait time. What can I do?

Reserving a trip is way more expensive then booking it on the spot.
