Okai ES30L Neon Electric Scooter (White) $499 + Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi

240

Low price on this electric scooter from Okai which is a good alternative to Segway or Xiaomi if you're wanting to do some commuting or a bit of fun. This one is quite different to others as there's customisable multi-coloured neon lighting on the stem and deck of the scooter. Allowing you to set different colours and effects. The dashboard for speed/modes etc. can be changed too.

Featuring a 350W front motor with 700W max power, up to 45km range, 3 speed modes with 25km/h top speed, front E-ABS + rear drum brake, 10" tubeless tyres, IP55 water resistance, suitable for riders up to 100kg and can be connected to the Okai app settings, cruise control, locking etc.

A little background about Okai if you haven't heard of them. They're one of the big rental escooter manufactuers (like Segway) and currently supply the Lime escooters and ebikes.

Please ensure you follow local laws surrounding electric scooters (legal in all states, except NSW & SA) and always wear protective equipment.

    Okai
    Is good
    Niiiice

  • This seems pretty cheap for the ppwer and range?

    • Yep pretty much near cost as it's on clearance.

  • if you were tall and about 100kg how far can i expect to go on these things ?

    • +2

It really comes down to how many hills and your speed. Realistically I'd say 30km max. Throw in more hills and that drops.

if you were tall and about 100kg how far can i expect to go on these things ?

about the same as if you were short and about 100kg

      • What about if you have always been tall and 100kg?

second conditional tense in English, the use of past with if just denotes a more hypothetical or unlikely idea - in brief
as you're replying to jv hopefully he'll approve you attempt at humour if thats the point of your post

not really the same wind resistance is what i had in mind, it does impact some other small vehicles, i dont know a whole lot about the performance of these scoots.
genuine question not really a great answer from jv despite the bold font (you've done better).

        • Look up the definition of ‘about’

          • @jv: it would be easier to do that yourself, but since you ask approximately

I am 178cm and was 94kg during covid lockdown. Using xiaomi with 350W motor and 45km range, I can barely hit 20km range from full charge.
Now I am 88kg and tried the same rute, batt still half remaining.
Those "suitable for rider up to 100kg" might just means the frame didn't crack if people up to 100kg ride on it.

Dont forget to add on $2,500 in fines if you plan to chance riding one in NSW

    • Another reason not to live in NSW.

Ooooo looks a seriously good price..buy first worry about if I need later…

    • Did you buy it? Was it posted?

  • 10inch wheel is too small ? Not comfortable to ride for adults…

    • For an escooter 10" is the norm and perfectly fine. Anything smaller and you'll start to notice.

      • i see, thanks, but NSW is illegal, it's pity

  • Review on model below I found
    https://riderguide.com/reviews/okai-neon-review/
Okai NEON Pro offers the great features of the previous ES10 and ES20 scooters but now with 10" Air Tires and suspension that keeps you going on all roads. Reliable rear disc brakes helps you to stop on the spot.

    Also a comparison

    • I the neon looks a tiny bit different on paper to the ES30L. It certainly looks the same physically though. I can't find any reviews specifically for the ES30L, which i find odd

Scooters are for kids not grown men

    • +6

Perfect ride for you. You've yet to grow up.

    • +3

The username checked out. Believing number 8 is lucky is for kids not grown up, especially three 8s in a row.

      • Cuts deep bro! Words are like weapons….

  • There is an insanely steep hill between where i live and the local train station. I'm guessing a 350w motor won't be able to handle it?

Any recommendations for something that's got a powerful motor but is still compact (fitting in a work locker would be ideal)? I don't need heaps of range. I should only be doing 4km per day.

    • Pascoe vale? :D

        haha you nailed it mate

        • Fair consideration then lol

  • Seems OOS

I am not very hopeful.. :(

    • Got this reply from JB this morning.
"Our buying team have advised that this item is currently on back-order with our supplier. The estimated delivery date for this item is currently unknown, and we have emailed the Operations team to find out.

We understand that it may not be convenient for you to wait so if you would prefer to cancel your order please reply to this email."

      • +1

Haven't received it yet.. But it sounded like they were discontinuing the line.. So it makes no sense to get more units from the supplier…

        • +1

Yes, it was marked as a "clearance" sale. They shouldn't be ordering new stock to fill orders.

      • +1

My order was cancelled earlier today. Very disappointed.

    • +2

      Mine is unfulfilled as well

    • Cancelled now. So sad

      • Same here :(

  • Cancelled and refunded also :(
