assuming you have to use shopback pay, you will need to make another seperate transaction to confirm the cashback from the previous transaction. there's a workaround though πŸ˜‰

pro tip: take a photo of the store's QR code and save it to your album

        • Then make a payment of 1c?

          • +2

            @xers: let's just say 10c for a plastic bag. min payment is 10c 😊

            • +1

@skido: Lol the stores will get surprised why suddenly lots of 10c trx in their acct..

"hey mr manager do we sell a plastic bag for 10c"

              Manager:

            • @skido: I got this email from ShopBack the other day:

              #

              Dear ShopBack User,

We hope this email finds you well.

It has come to our attention that you have made multiple $0.10 transactions using ShopBack Pay across different merchants.

We would like to strongly emphasize that transactions of this nature are considered duplicative and will lead to your account being flagged for potential fraud. Kindly note that transactions with merchants that do not involve any exchange of goods and/or services are fraudulent in nature and we remind you not to be party to this.

              #

I've never done this trick, and when I asked them to show which transactions are considered a fraud, they never reply back.
Not sure if they sent this to everyone

              • @OzBestDeal: lol… of course they monitor ozb, but they cant tell who so yeah why not just spam and accuse everyone and be done.

              • @OzBestDeal: Damn they on to.us. I haven't even tried this trick yet lol

                • @Jared17: Same here, I did a legit transaction, but they accuse me of doing fraud :(
                  I don't even spend multiple $0.10 transactions :(
Completely baseless accusation from ShopBack…. not happy at all!!!

    • Please share. Thanks!

    • i thought about paying in two separate transactions but never had chance to.
      $4.99 + $0.01 for $5 item for eg?
havent done this so just gotta ensure the min spend i guess?

    • pls share thx

    • pleaseeeee

    • ooo workaround?

    • 10c bag yeah I've done that for big orders but just leave it if it a single drink.

it depends if you see yourself heading back to the same store again. saving a pic of the QR code helps 😊

        • Didn't think of that for cafes after their bad coffees. I knew you could go to photo album to scan but I'm already a regular at in-stores already.

        • +1

Oh i thought the store have to create an invoice for us to pay, but we can just punch in the (any) amount…

    • please shar

    • Thanks. I never knew about this. Made alot transaction previously. Should have read the t and c lol

    • +1

This is why I don't ever use this offers, i don't understnad why they make you go twice in order to get the cashback so it's not really a deal. There some places you don’t go often.

    • OK all, please start taking photos of QR codes and posting them to google maps.

I think CoCo via shopback is only available in Melb and Syd.

  • Any stores?

  • Why is Chatswood still not included…

    • Either its a corporate store and doesn't need the traffic or the franchisee didn't opt in.

      • or the same owner owns all the city stores

        • hence corporate stores. They can the marketing budget already.

Shopback in store is so confusing to use and SB themselves don't explain anything.

Are you suppose to punch in the amount you're about to pay after scanning and then show the attendant?

    • +4

      yep

So you scan the QR code on the sign
attendant will tell you how much
you put it in, show then and make the payment

      and thats it.

Isn't it intuitive enough? Enter amount. Show them you paid via the receipt when you hit pay.

      • No because you risk paying and having to deal with someone who knows nothing about what you're doing.

Intuitive is the cashier generating a code and you checking out. Not the other way around.

        • +2

I think there is a little bias from my end as QR code payments has been ingrained in Asia for a decade now. But then Paypal, cash app, Beem (EFTPOS), Revolut and venmo basically offers the same solution.

You have a static QR for the store front and you just pay to that stores wallet. Why do you need a new code per transaction doesn't make sense. You just show the receipt for payment sent. You thinking of the Rewards pay method? That is a static wallet I am pretty sure.

"Hi, I'd like to pay with Shopback"

"I don't know what that is"

"Here, this sign here. I'm going to pay, okay?"

Then you pay, show them the screen and walk out.

What is Shopback Pay? Using Shopback balance?

    • +1

that was my first thought, what the heck is shopback pay

      • +2

QR code payment; you can use balance or added card. Basically adapted how cashless payment is done in Asia. Scan QR and punch in the value you need and show they you sent it. Like paying someone via Paypal QR code.

  • is it in-store only

  • Good thing my doctor ordered me to stop drinking milktea or anything too sugary or I'll get Diabetes for real this time.

  • +2

Not for Chatswood - they are dodgy there - they handed out loyalty cards when they opened, and then refused to honor it after I'd bought a few drinks.
Lost my loyalty permanently for that, especially when there is so much choice in Chatswood within 50m.

    • lol they dont honour their own loyalty cards? Did they give a reason?

  • +2

i think the buy1get1 is just for the 3 types on the picture, not for any drinks

    • +1

Can anyone confirm the buy 1 get 1 free promo only covers Passonfruit Black Tea with Lychee Jelly, Pearl Milk Tea and Taro Milk Tea with Sago?

      • its too good to be true if for any drink.. remember they are asian business, dont want to loose money

        • +1

So non asian biz is okay with losing money. Great to know bro

          • @Jared17: I had a good laugh, thank you!

      • +3

Yep I went to a store yesterday and it's only for the 3 flavours shown on the poster, which you mentioned. Also it's only for regular size, no large upgrade. Limit of 1 use per customer (it's a Shopback coupon code), and signing up a new account on the spot did no award a coupon code so it's only for existing accounts.

        • Yeah it's only the three drinks on the poster. And it has to be exactly that. If you want a different topping then it's not eligible.

I offered to get my colleague a drink today figuring it's free but they specified a different topping so fml :(
