OzAlerts - Unofficial OzBargain Trending Deal Notifications via Discord

Hello everyone,

I've put together a simple system to ping users when a deal begins to trend on OzBargain.

I've created a free discord server that allows you to set notification preferences for deals that gain at least 15 votes within 45 minutes. The goal is to undercut the existing OzBargain event subscription (+30 votes in 30 minutes), notifying users of deals faster before they expire and be extra convenient for users that already have discord.

Upon joining, you can set your notification preferences to ping for all new deals, or just trending deals.

I understand this isn't for everyone, but after missing out on a few killer deals recently I had to put something together for myself and thought it was worth sharing to the community.

      There was that one user a while back, iirc they had a chess piece with a yellow background as their profile pic, forgot their username though… got bullied/shut down so hard by the OzB community for constantly pushing their unofficial OzB discord server that they upped and left, deactivating their account. That was interesting to watch unfold.

        I know plenty of servers have existed in the past, and someone will likely create another in the future haha. The only purpose of this server is a notification system for those who use discord and would like to be notified that way without needing to be on the OzBargain website 24/7 or depend on an email notification. It's not designed to be a community chat or anything - I think this forum serves its purpose for that.

    There’s already an official ozbargain bot discord though… deal pings only, no random chats.

      It only requires +15 votes within 45 minutes to trigger a notification. It allows up to a 45 minute window to meet this criteria, instead of 30 minutes.

    The discord is ripping off other user's hard work and replacing the links with affiliate links with no link back to the ozbargain post
