  • Can you buy these cards with the Coles prepaid MasterCards?

    • +2

You can probably use the physical Coles Mastercard gift cards as a payment method. It last worked for me in June. I have heard that Woolworths recently blocked customers from using physical Coles Mastercard gift cards as a payment method for Perfect eftpos gift cards (an open-loop gift card), but considering I was able to purchase an Adventure gift card (a closed-loop gift card) on the weekend at Woolworths using a physical Coles Mastercard gift card, I think there would be no restrictions for purchasing other closed-loop gift cards, including Ultimate gift cards.

You cannot use the digital Coles Mastercard gift cards as a payment method unless you can figure out how to do a card-not-present transaction instore at Woolworths. I doubt that is even possible at Woolworths.

      • Hello,
How do I use the remaining funds left on an ultimate card? For example I purchase a $20 ultimate eats giftcard and used $14.90 at subway so I have $5.10 remaining. I went to subway again but they don't allow multi payments.
        TIA

        • +1

You can do so via the app/website (online order) if you have an amount of rewards points to choose from to pay the rest

        • This was something I experienced as well. You can do split payments at RibsBurgers and at certain Nando's.

          • @xsmax: great i'll visit those places

        • I bought ultimate gc for menulog before. They are a pain to use and it’s hard to use the remaining dollars left for menulog orders.

        • +1

I use my random left over amounts at sushi hub & grill'd

Just ask them to do split payment.

Write down the amount leftover on the card or spreadsheet with the card number so you can tell them the amount.

      • @WookieMonster so can you purchase 2 x $500 Ultimate Home using the 4 x $250 Vanilla Cards from Coles? Does Woolworths take split payments at the self serve checkout?

        • +1

so can you purchase 2 x $500 Ultimate Home using the 4 x $250 Vanilla Cards from Coles?

          Probably.

          • I would be surprised if Woolworths has brought in restrictions on how you can use Vanilla Visa gift cards in their stores, but I cannot rule it out.

          • In my past experience, Vanilla Visa gift cards can sometimes take a while after purchase from Coles to be available for redemption. During the September 2022 and March 2023 deals, it could take up to 30 minutes, and during the February 2022 deal, it almost always took about 4.5 hours.

          • If you are going to through a self serve checkout, you may have a self checkout assistant intervene if they see you are taking a while to process payments and are swiping multiple cards on the EFTPOS terminal.

Does Woolworths take split payments at the self serve checkout?

I was able to do split payments when purchasing a gift card at a Woolworths self serve checkout on the weekend. I assume it is still possible to do that.

          • @WookieMonster: I tried using the vanilla gift cards earlier today to purchase the ultimate gift cards. It got rejected at the terminal. I used the staffed checkout and the rep told me you can't use gift cards to purchase gift cards. I'm thinking it got rejected because I just walked out of Coles and into Woolworth and didn't leave enough time for it to activate.

            • @mooodeng:

I'm thinking it got rejected because I just walked out of Coles and into Woolworth and didn't leave enough time for it to activate.

              Yep, I think so too.

              • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks, I just tried and it worked. Bought $1000 of the home gift card today and the rest will be done tomorrow. The promo has a limit of 2 variable cards per day in one transaction.

I think this deal has expired. The TnC mention the deal was only valid till 13/08/23. Can someone confirm?

  • Purchased this on 30th August in the previous catalogue. 20x bonus points still not received. It should not take that long to issue the points when previously it was done instantly. Service goes down and they gouge us with higher prices.

    • You can usually see bonus straight away on screen before paying? Did it show the correct amount of bonus points?

I bought Airbnb last week and it showed the bonus points before I paid.

      • I didn't actually check. I didn't know they still flash up on the screen. They didn't get printed on the receipt.

        • +1

Reach out to rewards support, they are pretty good. If anything wrong they will credit you. Assuming you bought the correct product.

        • +1

Embarrassing admission from me is that during that previous promotion I bought the wrong ‘Him’ gift card.

The TCN and Ultimate ones look very similar. Of course gift cards aren’t refundable/exchangeable etc.

          • +1

@AntonChigurh: They're not refundable but there's a decent chance you can still get the points if you call Everyday Rewards. They're usually pretty forgiving with that mistake and often credit the points as a one time "good will" gesture. It helps if you were told by in-store staff that you would earn points on the wrong card but that may not be applicable in your case.

            • @VantageXL: I did the same thing for buying the wrong "him" card apparently. They look exactly the same! They did credit me the points through goodwill though

    • Are you sure you bought ultimate and not the TCN card? They look similar and I know people in the past have bought the wrong one

  • +2

Is it possible to buy Apple gift cards from JB Hi-Fi using Ultimate gift cards as the form of payment?

    • +1

Yes. Just did that last week.

  • My plan is to use the Coles MasterCard deal to buy 2k worth of Ultimate gift cards then purchase 15PM. Will this work I dunno… savings will be around 17% I think

    • What is PM?

      • Pro Max. As in iPhone 15 Pro Max

    • It should work if you can find any Coles MasterCard left… went around to scout a few Coles earlier and none of the $250 Gift cards left.

      • Plenty of stock at my local store this morning, purchased 5. Will purchase the remaining 4 tomorrow.

        • u still got the 10% off? thought that deal is over

  • Does anyone know if there are any limits on redemption at IKEA?

    • +4

In terms of Ultimate gift cards:

You can also exchange an Ultimate gift card for a digital IKEA gift card through the Ultimate gift card website. IKEA handles the redemption of IKEA gift cards differently to Ultimate gift cards, which means…

      • +1

        Thanks so much @WookieMonster!

      • +1

Last weekend, I used 12x500 Ultimate Everyone Gift Card to purchase some furniture from IKEA. I called up first and inquired I had another form of gift card - mainly it’ll come up as a VISA purchase and if they do split payments? They said yes. You will need an IKEA staff member to help facilitate each split payment transaction.

I find it easier then converting it to IKEA gc which takes 48-36 hours to activate.

Thanks, unfortunately my desired product is only available at bunnings and Sydney tools

  • Can you buy these with Woolworths gift card?

    • +2

I highly doubt it you could use a gift card issued by Woolworths Group (including Woolworths Supermarkets gift cards) as a payment method.

      • It is against the terms and conditions of all gift cards issued by Woolworths Group to use them to pay for gift cards.

      • If you scan a gift card to purchase, go to the payment screen, select Gift Card as a payment method and swipe/scan/enter a gift card issued by Woolworths Group, you should get an Items Not Allowed error (or something along those lines).

      • If you attempt to use Everyday Pay as a payment method in a transaction where you trying to purchase a gift card and go to the payment screen, you should get an Items Not Allowed error (or something along those lines). You are not able to use Everyday Pay to purchase any gift cards, even if your Everyday Pay payment source is merely a bank card.

Feel free to give it a go if you want, but considering I have encountered the errors myself in the past, I am extremely doubtful it would work if you try it out during this deal.

  • Hi all I am new to OZB… previously I have bought fixed amount GC……what’s the process to buy the variable GC - can we buy it from self checkout ? (And can we use the vanilla Visa card to purchase ?)

    • +7

what’s the process to buy the variable GC - can we buy it from self checkout ?

      1. Grab a variable load gift card from the gift card shelf.
      2. Go to a self checkout. (You can go to a standard checkout to complete the purchase, but let's assume you are going to a self checkout.)
      3. Scan your Everyday Rewards card. (You do not actually have to do this at this stage, but just make sure you scan your Everyday Rewards card before you pay for your gift card.)
      4. Scan the long barcode of the variable load gift card.
      5. A prompt should appear on the screen, asking you how much you would like to load onto your gift card. Enter in the amount you would like to load and press OK.
      6. A message will appear on the screen telling you to put the gift card to one side. Press OK and you will go back to the main screen.
      7. Once you are ready to pay for your gift card, press Pay Now on the bottom right-hand corner.
      8. Proceed with payment, noting that you most likely cannot use Woolworths Group gift cards nor Everyday Pay as a payment method (even though they may appear as options available to you when on the payment screen).

If you are at a Woolworths Metro store and you scan the long barcode of a variable load gift card at a checkout, the checkout may automatically choose $0.01 as the load amount. If this happens for variable load Ultimate Home gift cards, it is a bug in the checkout system and there is no way staff at the store can get around this issue and allow you to purchase the gift card.

(And can we use the vanilla Visa card to purchase ?)

Probably. I am not sure if Woolworths has blocked Vanilla Visa gift cards as a payment method for all gift cards at Woolworths, but I would be surprised if they did, especially on closed-loop gift cards such as Ultimate gift cards.

If you are asked for a PIN on the EFTPOS terminal, press Enter without entering any numbers. You will be pushed through the signature verification process, but Woolworths usually does not ask you to provide an actual signature.

Just keep in mind that you may need to wait a period of time after purchasing a Vanilla Visa gift card at Coles before it can be redeemed at a merchant. In the most recent Vanilla Visa gift card in March 2023, it sometimes took about 30 minutes, but in previous deals, it could take up to 4.5 hours.

      • Would like share my experience with regards to purchasing using the Coles Vanilla Giftcard. I tried this morning (30 minutes after purchasing a $100 Coles Vanilla GC - checked balance and ensured its registered) to purchase 2x $50 Ultimate Home at the standard checkout and was declined. The reason given was "Over card limit".

Will try later at self checkout using the steps as recommended above.

        • same "Over card limit" error. our wws doesnt allow gc thru self checkout, it prompts for staff login instead of enter value and staff sent me to counter : (

          • @nanny0tt: Just an update that I tried the selfcheckout steps as outlined by @WookieMonster above and it worked for me using the Vanilla gift card. I purchased the fixed value $50 using a $100 Vanilla gift card just to test and went back in again to purchase the other $50.

  • Can you buy these cards with Activ prepaid visa/Activ supermarket card?

    • +1

I have not heard of Woolworths enforcing restrictions on the usage of ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards at their stores, so you should be fine from that perspective.

I have not heard of Woolworths enforcing restrictions on regular Activ Visa gift cards when you are purchasing closed-loop gift cards. I was able to use an Activ Visa gift card at Woolworths in November last year to purchase an Ultimate gift card (a closed-loop gift card), and I was also able to use an Activ Visa gift card at Woolworths on the weekend to purchase a different closed-loop gift card.

Keep in mind that Blackhawk Network has been enforcing spending restrictions on their gift cards - including Activ Visa gift cards and ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards - at “supermarkets” for a number of months now. Have a look here if you want to know more.

Is 20x good? How much is it worth % wise

  • Hmm I have a $2k IKEA purchase. So I should buy 2x variable at $1k each?

Will I get the 40k points?

  • I like to get UH gc for ikea too. Wondering is there a max amount we can buy and get the WW points?

  • What is the maximum value of ikea variable gift card we can buy $1k or $500 ?

I need around 3k so will I get 60k reward points or there is limit on maximum rewards you can earn?

  • +1

Is there a daily points earning limit if you buy a mix of fixed and variable GCs?

The purchase limits for this promotion vary depending on which gift cards you buy:

    • For cards with a fixed value (eg. “$30”, “$50” etc), the limit is five cards per day which can be purchased across multiple transactions.
    • For variable load cards where you choose the amount on the gift card (eg. “$50-500”, the limit is two cards per day and they must be purchased in a single transaction each day

If I want to get 5x $100 fixed value and 2x $500 variable load GCs in a single transaction, would I get the points for both?

Also, what is defined as “per day”? Would it be 24hrs from the transaction, or after 12:01am each day?

    • +1

Variable is a pain. It says 2 cards per day but it won't let you go for an amount $1000 so you can't do 2 x $500. Perhaps do $500 and 1 x $499 to get past it. I just got done this morning.

You should be able to check before you pay if the points come through. Cancel the order if the points don't show.

      • Hi, so if I bought this card, I can use it to pay in IKEA straightaway or do I have to redeem it first?

      • Made a mistake and ended up buying 2x $500 in 2 transactions before seeing this so I only got points for the first transaction…

I'll wait it out to see if I get the points otherwise anyone know if EDR is normally good with this stuff and will give me the bonus points if I contact them?

        • +1

yes, get contact with EDR they will add they as goodwill. I just did think via online chat yesterday, but they said a store manager would be able to add 2 * $500 cards in one transaction

          • +1

@nanny0tt: Contacted them through live chat earlier today and got it sorted. Thanks for your help!

          • @nanny0tt: Same - pain in arse by calling EDR - wasted my 45 precious of my life.

    • where did you read this? my catalogue just mentions the fixed value limit.

edit: nvm the T&C are spread across two pages.

  • +1

My local WW can't process 2x $500 variable GCs in one transaction, they said the cap is $500.

    • +1

      Same as mine

    • +1

Yeah so I think you have to do $500 and $499. I think that should work, but won't be able to test until tomorrow.

      • +1

When the staff scanned the second card, a message said the limit had been reached. There's no option to put any amount on the second card. I guess it might need the manager's authorisation to override the limit.

      • I just did this and the points are in my account. Thank you

    • +1

Update. The staff at another WW was able to process $500 + $499 in one transaction.

      • +1

Just confirming you did the 2 cards in one transaction and got the points showing?

        • +1

Yeah, 19,980 points already in the account.

  • Would anyone know if Ultimate Home gift cards can be used in-store at Good Guys to purchase Miele products?

  • Used Shopback's supermarket visa to buy this no problem.

  • Damn. No 99 bikes

    • Unfortunately not!!

Him and Active & Wellness and I hope they will advertise with 20x soon.

  • Is there a maximum number of gift cards which JB hifi allows you to spend? I would get as many of these as I can and trade them for $500 apple gift cards at JB hifi

    • Is there a maximum number of gift cards which JB hifi allows you to spend?

The instore checkout system does not limit the number or dollar amount of Ultimate gift cards you can redeem in one transaction.

The online checkout system will only let you redeem a maximum of 1x Ultimate gift card per transaction.

I would get as many of these as I can and trade them for $500 apple gift cards at JB hifi

A couple of issues with that approach:

      • I do not think JB Hi-Fi sells $500 Apple gift cards. The highest denomination I have ever seen stocked instore at JB Hi-Fi is $200.

      • You may have a staff member randomly tell you that you cannot use gift cards to purchase gift cards, or enforce a dollar limit on the amount of Apple gift cards they will sell you, or refuse to let you do split payments… It can happen.

  • +3

Just used 2x $250 Vanilla Visa to buy a single $500 Ultimate Home at Woolies using self checkout. Very nice

    • How did you manage to use multiple vanilla GC’s at self checkout. Could you please explain the steps ? Also did you have to register the vanilla GC’s and /or wait for for them to be activated ?

      • There’s a split payment by card option when you checkout, then you just pay $250 at a time. Or just go to the service desk and ask for them to do it. I purchased the vanilla visa cards the day before.

        • That’s great thank you !

  • Does anyone know how long it takes before you can check the balance? Tried to check balance on card I purchased yesterday 14/08 balance check page says activation failed.

  • So how does this work?

    1. I go online https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/card/home/
    2. Buy a GC worh 2000 $
    3. Provide my every day reward card number.
    4. GET THE 20X POINTS?
    • +1

      No.

This deal is only available instore at Woolworths and Woolworths Metro. Woolworths sells Ultimate Home gift cards in denominations of $50, $100 and $50-$500 (which is where you can choose any amount between the minimum and minimum load amount). Instructions on how to purchase a variable load Ultimate gift card were posted earlier in this deal.

For this deal, you can only earn bonus points on the variable load denomination in one transaction per day during this deal, and you will also only earn bonus points on a maximum of two variable load gift cards in that transaction. Keep in mind that not all staff are able to approve a $1000 gift card purchase, so you may need to wait for a more senior staff member who is allowed to authorise such a purchase and is also willing to do that. Also, considering you are suggesting you want to purchase $2000 worth of Ultimate gift cards, you will not be able to do that in one day unless you have two separate Everyday Rewards accounts.

The reason the deal description has a link to the Ultimate gift card website is so that you can see the most up-to-date list of participating retailers and how each participating retailer accepts Ultimate gift cards. Both of these can change at any time without prior warning, so I suggest you check the Ultimate gift card website before making any purchases.

      • +1

Thank you so much. That was very detailed.

  • Was unlucky enough trying to redeem the Ultimate giftcard for Apple GC at JB Hi-fi Glen today and was told it cant be done. “You cant buy gc with gc” was the response.

    • Same issue with OfficeWorks today

    • What domination of Apple GC does JB Hi Fi sell?

      • +1

        Last time I checked (a couple of months ago), $20, $30, $50, $100 and $200

  • Ok, would this work?
    1. Buying 9 Visa Vanilla $250 in Coles over 2 days
    2. Use 4 vanillas as a split payment to buy 500+499 ultimate cards ar self-checkout, repeat the same with another everyday rewards account (my understanding is Woolworths does not require pin, as desktopzero did it and vanillas do jot have pin), and last vanilla on next day for $199 ultimate gift card
    3. Use 2$500+2$499+$199 (total 5 ultimate cards) to buy iphone 15 pro max for $2197 in jb hifi (can I do that with online pre-order or only in-store when they would be in stock?)

That should bring phone price down to $1805.05

    • Ok, looks like ultimate cards can be used in-store only, so no on-line pre-order. But maybe you can buy apple GCs with them and use them for apple store pre-order?

      • Tried that with $400 and it worked.
Paid for variable load $400 Ultimate Home in woolies with $250 an $150 Vanilla cards as a split payment without issues.
Paid for 2x$200 Apple Gift cards in JB with that Ultimate card just using terminal with swipe+pin, without telling them I'll use gift card.

Looks like 2 more days of $500+$400 cards and I could get that Pro Max with 18% discount

  • I purchased $500 Home Gift card, added it to my Apple Wallet, and tried to purchase $500 Apple gift card in Officeworks.
The transaction was unsuccessful and the staff told me that on their screen they see a message that you can't purchase a Gift Card with another gift card.
I will try my luck in JB HiFi

    • You gotta tell the staff that the Home isn’t a gift card but rather they have to put it through as a debit/credit card transaction.

All you gotta do is just tap your phone if you have loaded it onto the Apple wallet

      • This is what I did :-|

        • I guess I’ve missed out on the recent updates from WM below :||

    • Officeworks has a policy where you cannot use a "gift card" to purchase any gift cards sold by them (and Officeworks applies a very loose definition for "gift card"). Officeworks started rolling out an update to their checkouts around June 2023 to automatically block people from using Ultimate gift cards to pay for any gift cards, so you probably would have seen an Invalid Product Mix error message flash up on the EFTPOS terminal as soon as you tapped your Apple device against it.

You should be fine at JB Hi-Fi, as they are usually much more relaxed about people using Ultimate gift cards to purchase gift cards. Last time I checked JB Hi-Fi, they do not sell a $500 Apple gift card, so you will probably need to purchase a mixture of $100 and $200 denominations to use up your $500 Ultimate Home gift card.

      • +1

Can confirm paying successfully paying for 2x$200 Apple cards with $400 Ultimate Home in JB Hi-Fi this morning. Thanks!
