Been using a few of their products in and out of the country with no issue.
They break like a mother******, so it's your choice
my usbc one stopped working a couple months in, wouldn't repurchase
From what I can tell, they seem to have very poor QC. Sometimes you'll get a product that works fine, then other times they might explode or catch on fire. I've got a couple of chargers and haven't had a problem, but others have not been so lucky.
This is a hot deal
🔥
This deal is on fire.
Cracking hot deal
One to avoid. 3 star and down reviews mention coil whine/noise.
Worth the neg because you have read 1 review.
You may notice i've used the plural form of review - reviews. There are about ~10 reviews complaining about noise.
There's also the charger with a hole in it as mentioned in the above comment.
10 reviews out of 225. Seems fair mate.
@Fredfloresjr: Agreed - ~4.5% of reviews.
Not sure I like those odds and that's ignoring the review with the literal hole in the charger.
@ihfree: Fair enough. Have 3 multi chargers from them so far so good. Been using for years now. I can only try.
Yeah, but he saved like $4 on that charger, and that really adds up if you buy 10 chargers a week.
I have a bunch. Yes they have coil noise if you mind. Otherwise alright for their price.
the noise is basically their voices to warn you before self exploding….
I bought 3 a few years back. They melted and 1 burst into flames
HEYMIX Type C Fast Charger, 115W USB C Car Charger, 3-Port PD QC PPS Quick Car Phone Charger also half price with coupon $16.5 (60W C Cable 3.3Ft Included)
Too bad they don't bundle it with a spare car fuse.
Two reviews mention the device smoking. One of those reviews mentioned the device melting.
Cactus here, I've opened these up and.. Well they had me entertained in confusion and surprise.
Ill preface by saying, nobody should and I certainly don't expect anything from a charger that is NON-PD/QC and NON-GaN (or even any modern integrated circuit for that matter)
I'm persuaded they are taking refurbished, damaged, old stock and throwing them into these. There are components from 2003 in these.. there are more "Used" than they are "New" somehow…?
They're missing rudimentary and basic protection mechanisms that you'd expect from anything in the past 10 years… The circuit topology is somehow ancient.. Maybe they're old old circuit stock being put into new shells. No basic modern over current and over voltage protections, this thing will substitute fireworks during a storm/surge. Basically it relies on the safety and protection mechanisms of whatever you're plugging this into.
I would bet that the insulated Australian compliant plugs are probably the most expensive part of this product, and it likely costs a dollar to manufacture in total.
Maybe you could use these as backup of your backup USB charger for like your toothbrush or USB fan, for unimportant stuff…
For rudimentary chargers like these that are basic 5v 1-4A, I usually would say that anything works, because usually anything does work. Any product is fine, because any product made in the last 10 years is going to be compliant with enough modern standards, best/common practices and use modern circuit design. Somehow this doesn't do any of that.
Just buy an Arlec Power strip for $6 that has USB integrated at this point, or anything else but this.
1 cacti out of 5 (because I guess it's accessible and the price is somewhat low)
Yes, they're decent at $10-15 and you'll be fine with them for a while until they turn into E-waste.
I always tell people it's better to spend a bit more and use a charger for a decade or forever (because that's how long chargers should last you) than to buy something a bit cheaper to turn it into e-waste or have it die in 12-24months.
Interesting! I've seen a few videos of products with similar shells and, IIRC, they were problematic and had things like weights in them.
I always tell people it's better to spend a bit more and use a charger for a decade or forever
Completely agree!
@ihfree: Yup! Very common practice!
These shells are usually mass manufactured and you can find different components in different manufacturers ones, which is why I try to bring up concerns on specific products rather than anything with that she'll because there are some okay ones with this 2usb style output and similar shell.
I've seen PCBS in some that are literally just 5 or 6 components, basically just using rudimentary parts to bring the voltage down to 5 and calling it a day!
The circuit ends up being so light that it's suspicious. So much so they can't sell them! So they pot them, or put cheap metal into weighing it down.
Forgot to mention and can't edit, but they've cheaped out so much, that there's also no goop (silastic), which is a liquid rubber substance like hot glue used to dampen vibrations and stabilize and keep everything in place.
It costs a few cents to apply.. As a result there's audible whine coming from these when you run these at any load.
This (together with reviews) is a valid reason to avoid this deal. It's not worth the risk.
I normally hate it when people write long winded posts, but this, was not that.
I hate to measure its EMI emissions if the coils are noisy. Any comments guys/girls?
Wow cheaper than pack of fire starters from woolies
Is HEYMIX a no go for electronics?
