  • specs look great. good guys says snapdragon 888 but everywhere else it says 778

  • +2

God, that is insane for the money.

  • This vs Pixel 6a?

    • +7

      this

  • Great value for the price. Using this daily.

  • Is there sd card slot ? How is the photo quality ?

    • +1

I just looked it up before I saw your question. It doesn't have an sd slot.

      • +1

Damn, sd card will be good for ps2 emulation

    • No and average (but passable if camera isn't absolutely critical)

  • +3

I'm looking for the Ultra for that price lol wishful thinking

    • thanks! old tafe email still works

  • I believe this is different to the 5g model which is not on sale.

    Just a heads up

  • +12

I'd probably go for this deal if it didn't have the stupid edgeless screen.

    • +1

Agreed. I would cancel my pixel 7 order if this has a normal screen

    • +6

Agreed, I hate curved screens (work in the phone repair industry)

when S8 / S9 were the biggest thing i saw so many screens smashed on the apex of the curve.

When the curve add only style points and nothing practical..

      ..its a pass for me

      • +1

I'm pretty sure Samsung persists with it only because they discovered a clever way to sell lots of screens.

      • +3

I'm the same with glass backs. Glass is on the front for a reason, it's on the back to make you feel like you need to replace your phone sooner.

      • Hey mate, do you mind if I PM you a question pertaining to a repair I got carried out. Just your thoughts. Thanks in advance regardless

        • +1

          Sure, PM away

    • +5

Agree. After owning a Mate 20 Pro and a Pixel 6 Pro, I wouldn't ever go back to a curved screen. They're just so hard to protect from drops and they offer no real benefit (I actually find they detract from viewing). Curved glass screen protectors require UV glue to attach, which is a painful, messy, time consuming process. And the curved edge is harder to properly protect with a case, making the phone far more vulnerable to drops. Repairs are also prohibitively expensive, meaning you basically have to get a new phone if you sustain any significant screen damage.

With that said, this price is pretty good - if I were in the market for a new phone and on a budget, I might make an exception.

      • I had a mate 20 pro and after using its curve I find other phones that don't have a curve feel sharp, ridged and cheap, as it was easier and more comfortable to use the phone one handed and it felt a lot sleeker.

I had a clear TPU case and didn't really drop it, it was only my choice to wear shorts with useless pockets while riding a bike that was beginning of its demise, it slid down the road on its face.

        • None of us intentionally drop our phones. Somehow the Mate 20 survived, but my Pixel 6 Pro was my first ever phone to suffer screen damage - it was just too damn hard to protect. Using a Pixel 7 now - the smaller screen makes it easier to use one handed, and the flat screen means it takes less than a minute to install a screen protector and TPU cases provide excellent side and corner coverage.

    • put a case on it, will give it bit of an edge

  • Seriously considering selling my Iphone 13 Pro max and buying one of these (first and last apple product I ever buy)

    • That's quite a change. Probably wouldn't be too bad other than camera performance.

OOI, What's the problem with the iPhone 13 Pro Max?

      • it doesn't always get the photo colours right.

        • +1

No phone will get colours right in all situations.

Phones post process heavily and make a guess as to what a user would want. No system will be perfect.

      • +4

I just hate Apple products. Got it to please my mrs cause it has Imessage.

        • +4

That's quite the purchase for iMessage

    • ever the pixel 6a can take better photos than the iphone 13 pro, but I will admit the iphones do video alot better.

    • +1

surely you are trolling…going from flagship to mid tier or entry level is going to disappoint you so much.

    • I bought an iPhone 4 and have been on the Android bandwagon since Samsung Galaxy S3. I recently bought a Galaxy S21 FE 5G and was disappointed with the experience and considered going back to iPhone. Currently running with the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion and it's a great phone for the price.

      • What was wrong with the XP? The ui? The skin?
It can all be customised and skinned to what you want. @Mr Haj

        • The S21 FE? Coming from my Huawei P30, I was really disappointed with the S21 FE's battery life, and it charged slowly. Loving the 68W charger that came with my Motorola.

  • +2

Amazing find OP. All time low better than half price.

  • do motorolas still get vanilla android? I know back in the nexus days they used to. not sure now though.

    • +1

      Very close

    • +1

Pretty close to vanilla, but good luck getting any updates.

      • yeah that was the beuty of it last time motorola used to get updates directly from google.

      • Had mine for nearly a year, with the latest update on June 24 2023.

Prior to that it got updates on:

        Oct 6 2022
        Nov 11 2022
        Dec 6 2022
        Dec 22 2022
        March 30 2023
        April 28 2023
        June 4 2023
        June 24 2023

Updates don't seem to be a problem

        • Maybe they've gotten their shit together recently, but my Moto G5+ was promised two major OS upgrades and got 0.

Are those major upgrades or just security updates?

          • @Rysta: Security updates, to the best of my knowledge.

    • almost stock but updates are non existent.

      • +1

yeah sounds like motorola decided to end google pushing updates for them.

  • Looks like a good upgrade from the Poco X3. Only downside is no headphone jack

    • +3

I've also got an X3 and very tempted, but it's still going surprisingly strong!

      • +1

Got no problems with my X3 either, although a camera upgrade would be nice.

        Hard to resist this price

        • Also got an X3 pro… I read a lot of novels on my phone so figure an oled would actually be a lot better for eye strain.. hmm

    • This will actually do VoLTE and VoWIFI - unlike the poco.

I had an X3 and it was good, but the battery swelled and I accidentally broke the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable while replacing the battery.

      • The X3 Pro does both Volte and Vowifi, at least it does on the Pixel ROM.

  • +2

Not sure about lots of stock.
    Almost dried up in VIC.
    Excellent value however.

  • Got one previous deal, as long as you can tolerate an average cam (that can still take decent pics with patience) it's a seriously good phone.

    • +1

      How’s battery life?

      • +1

Battery isn't that great mate. I have it and Camera is pretty good for that price.

      • +2

Battery is fine for me but I'm one of those ppl that charge their phone every opportunity so it'll never be an issue.

  • do any current decent android phones still have microsd card and 3.5mm headphone jack support ? any suggestions\recommendations please.

    • xiaomi/redmi/poco probably do

    • +1

      moto: g82, g53.
cam n software update are trash rest all is great.

      • I have a G82, software updates are on average quarterly and it just got Android 13. I dont find the camera that bad. Its not he best for sure, but its more than passable.
        .

        • as compared to the competition.

  • Worthy upgrade to Oppo X5 Lite?

    • +1

      processor is a step up

    • +3

Hyperbole much? 128GB is perfectly fine for most average users. App cache and photos/video tend to be the biggest storage issues. App cache can be wiped and photos/videos can easily be backed up to the cloud or local storage, and then deleted from the phone.

  • +1

0.1 inch smaller than my moto G82, shame they couldn't fit a larger battery in and wireless charging.

  • How do tempered glass screen protectors work with this sort of screen?

    • +1

They usually come with a glue to squeeze on, then you drop the screen on top and use a little UV light (also included) to dry it.

It's a bit tricky so definitely look up some tutorials before doing it yourself, but yeah not as simple as the flat ones.

      • +1

        Thanks sounds complicated. Might pass.

        • +3

I have installed using this method on my P30 Pro. The main issue I found is the glue supplied with the glass is never enough, I have now bought extra glue from Amazon for future installs. @mangobango is correct the install is a little tricky and unfortunately over time the glass can also lift depending on case you use, movement in pocket etc.

        • You can find ones that are curved but the glu is BS

    • There are finally a few options now a days. 1st is with UV light method. Bit tricky but I would avoid. I recently got another one that has full coverage and doesn't need any special skills :) . Can share the link if required

      • Thanks for the reply. Oos now.

    • +1

I have….never never ever had to use any sort of 'glue' on a tempered glass screen? You just get some little cloth to wipe dust then drop it on the screen and it stays…..
But i've always bought cheapos for relatively cheap phones so maybe i haven't got 'real tempered glass' or something.
But all those protectors have served me well.

  • Does this have a pre-applied screen protector?

    • +3

      Yes

  • I Have a poco F1, thats still running fine but im considering purchasing this or the Pixel 6a. Are either of these phones enough of an upgrade to justify the purchase?

    • +1

I would say yes. Battery life has come a long way in general but pixel phones don't have good battery life (the Google's own chip isn't as efficient as Snapdragon). Screens have improved 120hz is common, android version has come a long way too.

  • Anyone else think its a price error?

  • What about the updates? I wondering if it has already gotten its last official android update?

    • +1

Released with 12 so 13 should be its last. 2 years security left.

  • Damn it. I’ve got too many phones already. The current one is iPhone 12 mini from that great Amaysim deal. But its very small screen is an issue. Really tempted to buy this but I have no experience with Motorola phones. Are they reliable? How’s battery life?

    • +1

      fluid performance, great battery life.
very poor sw updates and camera.

  • +3

Battery life is decent. Comparable to iPhone 12 battery & more close to ip 13 base territory.
But I kinda dislike edge to edge screen design. So there’s that. But overall good phone for this sale price.

  • For anyone who owns one, how durable is the screen?

    • just buy it mate. worst selling used and should get your cost back lol

    • +3

Had mine since late June (2023), pretty great so far!

  • +2

I think I missed out, not available for delivery or pickup now?
