Good price, looks like price of SSD has been dropped a lot these days.

    • +1

I suspect the prices are far from bottomed-out. I reckon, wait a fortnight, save $10.

      • Keep waiting, in the mean time i'll buy your share!

          i'll buy your share!

Sure, knock yourself out. I am not aware of any SSD shortages.

        • Not if i create one. :p

      • Great news, I can wait a month :)

      • +1

Let me know when prices reach $100 for a 1TB drive.

  • The Kingston SSDs are very good value. But I need 7mm ones.

    • the Samsung SSDs cost slightly more than the kingston, but their prices are the lowest on the market at the moment and they are 7mm.

      • Question: My HDD is in a case and it is 9mm , the HDD itself looks like 7mm. So technically both 7mm and 9mm fit in my laptop isn't it ?

nice, same ones as shopping square here:

Our site should be able to handle the traffic. It is not as popular as Indomie yet :).

  • should i put a SSD in a netbook? would it make any difference?

    • netbook stats?

      • sorry, it's a Asus 1005HA. I think it has an old Atom CPU, 2gb of RAM, 10.1" screen…

        • IUm not sure if these SSD will fit. the Kingston SSD's are pretty thick unlike other SSD's

        • i was thinking of the sandisk extremes…

        • +1

hmm not sure if you would notice a reasonable difference, might make a small difference, but I'd wager not enough to make it worth spending $$$$.

I put an vortex 4 in my dads Sata 1 PC, spun up windows 7, it was OK but nowhere near as quick as an SSD usually makes a computer…ended up ripping it out and using it for my machine. As it wasn't worth him spending the money on it.

my monies on using the cash for a newer machine.

        • Sorry I meant the Sandisk not Kingston

  • hi, was trying to get my head around these SSDs specs and stuff. I got a XPS 15 (L502x- Sandy Bridge) and my mate got a Vostro 3560 (Ivybridge) (scored from the last OZbargain's deal) and we wonder what is the right SSD for our laptops? Will it be possible to replace the optical drives with the SSD and keep the HDD as well ?

    • +2

I got a Vostro 3560 from last Ozbargain's deal. Replace it with an Intel SSD 330 180GB. Work great for me. U can buy from ebay a caddy that fit into your optical drives. I don't have one, saw this in ebay..

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Vostro-3460-3560-2nd-HDD-SSD…

      • So basically it can be both 7mm and 9mm if I want to put that in a caddy but if I want to replace with the main HDD it has to be 7mm ? (the tech guy at Dell said this).

        • The HDD I took out from my laptop measure 8.5mm. Intel SSD may be same …. You thinking of the Kingston SSD?

      • Those caddies are cheaper at dealextreme.

  • Which is the better 240GB SSD to go for?

    • +1

The one that costs more :-P . sandisk is faster

  • Anyone know if I need a 7mm or will any ssd will fit a Vostro 3560 (yes from $799 deal)

    • just open the hdd and measure it ( make sure u dont damage the warranty thing )

  • anyway to convert a 7mm to 9mm?

    • read those comment above …

      • the comments above is talking about - yes, you can put an 7mm SSD into a 9mm slot, but how to hold the 7mm SSD to a right position in the slot, i.e. there is a 2mm gap?

        • the caddy either come with the laptop ( like mine ) or you have to purchase it, the screws will hold the HDD in the position.

  • Is there going to be a price drop on Intel 330? My Intel x25m SSDs are quite versatile in that they work for both 7mm and 9.5mm notebooks, I presume 330 works the same.

    • +1

For the moment, just these SSD available on our smashing sale. Is there a reason you prefer Intel 330 over Samsung 830? We reckon they are equally reliable SSD Brand.

      • +1

Yeah I would definitely prefer the Samsung 830 over the Intel 330

      • Yeah Samsung 830 is pretty good, but my 3 year-old x25ms are still serving me well, subjectively I don't notice them slower than my newer Crucial/Plextor/Kingston SSDs, so in my personal experience, Intel has the track record.

  • Want to buy 2 to save on shipping but site will only let me buy 1. So not that cheap after all.

    • the "amsung 830 Series 256GB" has max is 2

  • +1

order one samsung 530 128gb, thanks rep.

  • should i put a SSD for my notebook and should i get the Kingston one? mine is a lenovo Z580 intel i5 8gb ram. I dunno will the ssd fit though

    • The best solution is to open up the hard drive component and check it out. I will say there is a very good chance that the kingston should fit for your model. The risk of not fitting will be more on smaller size or slimmer designed laptops - such as ultrabook.

  • MSY had it for $152 a few weeks back. Would be much of a more definite buy.

  • What do you mean "not as cheap as $0.29 per packet" ?

  • Wondering why SSD prices dropping so fast ? I'm really tempting to get 240GB x 2 (raid 0).. Sandisk or Kingstone ?

  • +1

    Thanks rep

will put em to the test - my kid is a YouTube and online game fanatic

    • Thanks! I'm sure he will love both you and the SSD :).

  • Whats the thickness of the Kingston SSD?

  • Can't order more than 1? :(

I was gonna get a 240gb sandisk extreme for my brother :s
