A better antioxidant cereal would be to have oats with fresh blueberries and strawberries in it. Chuck in some chia seeds, almond flakes and flax seeds, add some honey, give it a mix, and off you go. Otherwise this stuff is loaded with sugars, preservatives, etc which arent great for your health if thats why you're buying it. If its for the taste, then each to their own.

7% sugar is ok, given the fruit content. It's not like Nutri grain and others which have lots added.

Wouldn't go that far. On the right track with fresher and lesser ingredients.

+chia seeds but the rest after is overkill

My local Woolworths had all large pack plus cereals on clearance for $4.40 per pack. Each pack is between 700g and 850g.

You sure they were actually marked as "clearance"? Because I think they were all just simply half price in last week's catalogue.

Though I have just noticed Coles now have a 675g antioxidant box at $8.80, so looks like they're shrinking them again sadly. Woolies have the 765g box on special at $7, so must differ by region as OP said they're $8.80.

Edit: Other boxes at $8.80 at Coles have also shrunk…

Yes I am sure. It said clearance on the price label.

        • Might be a store-level discount to clear stock of 765g boxes - it looks as if Woolworths are following Coles, and will stock the new down-sized 675g packs. My local Woolworths is currently selling the 765g packs for $8.80.

Yeah makes sense then, as they're just clearing them out for the new smaller boxes. Not sure why your original comment was negged, cancelled it out.

          • @MiscOzB: Some of the boxes I have say “new look coming soon” so it seems they are using this to distract from the smaller sizes maybe?

            • @rogsamsy: Yep I noticed that and thought the same, using it as a distraction.

Front page? Could understand if it was a list of foods or free food.

Mass produced breakfast cerals have got to be 1 of the biggest contributions to bad health for the 20th century and continuing onto the 21st. Don't eat em often at all. Mostly every Ceral has to be reinforced with minerals and vitamins cause it's just full of crap.

    • Preach. The whole cereal aisle of the supermarket is embarrassing.

Then at least give @cobknob an up-vote, ya miser! 😏

    • +2

jeezus it's not that bad, why is everyone thinking a box of Uncle Toby's cereal will lead to the downfall of humanity

      • +2

Taking such a stance against cereals like Cocopops and Nutrigrain etc. makes sense, but I struggle to see their issue with these Uncle Toby's cereals, which are pretty bland and lacking in all the sorts of things that might contribute to bad health.

      • +3

I agree with you but not "everyone" thinks negatively about a box of Uncle Toby's cereal, especially when it is at a good price during a cost-of-living crisis. I hope there are some out there who 'appreciate' the post to simply help out. (After all, it takes a bit of effort to prepare a post, and its pretty easy to scroll-on by if it isn't to one's liking) ….

Yep great deal mate. No wonder this site has gone to shit, everyone’s too scared to post anything when the keyboard warriors hit the comments providing nothing but criticism.

        • -1

It doesn't make front page that's all. If you stack it with a list of items maybe yeah. There's probably plenty of other items that shouldn't be front page either.

      • It won't. It's just not really got anything to get you by for starting the day. Lacks useful energy. If you think it's healthy tell me why it's reinforced with minerals+vitamins?
