Getting Smart Devices Connected to Google Home Assistance

Bought below items to install in the new house which is currently under construction.
Electrician will install those at no extra cost.
.
Reolink PoE cams (6),
Reolink WiFi doorbell
Samsung Smart IoT Wi-Fi Digital Doorlock.
.
What do you think of having all of these devices connected to Google Home Assistance (though some cheap android tablet)?
I can then ask the builder's electrician to create a mounting facility for tablet.
Do you recommend any other way to have these connected to Google Home Assistance?
Thanks,

  • Unless you have a Reolink NVR, you will need a PoE networking switch to power and link all the cams to your home network.
Once connected, there are many ways you can access these such as Home Assistant, Google Home etc. For Google Home, I believe you just need the apps to talk to each other so a cheap Android should do the trick. There are numerous videos on YouTube for wall mounting such a tablet and all the associated apps you can run (especially for battery and power management).
Also, I hope you got the PoE version of the doorbell.

    • Thanks @OldSchoolHarry
Yes, I have Reolink NVR. As I forgot to ask the electrician to have arrangement for PoE doorbell, electrician didnt do it so I am going with the non-PoE version

    • Reolink NVR with PoE cameras won't work with Google Home.

If somebody has worked out a way to do it, let me know.

        no, list first

  • Is google home assistance support Reolink?
You probably need HA (home-assistant.io) then bridge it to Google.

For new home, i strongly suggest to have a network hub location for NBN, Switch etc in one location within the wall cavity and have few ethernet ports around the house.

    • Is google home assistance support Reolink?

yes, but not via the NVR

      • Ah interesting but can google access the cameras directly, while connected to NVR?

        • Not the PoE ones is my understanding.

          Non PoE should be fine.

  • +1

If going for a Google based setup, I strongly recommend the Google Home device instead of a random tablet. A much more seamless integration and user experience.

  • You'll need a nest in each room, so it can hear you, when you tell it to turn on or off lights fans aircons etc.
I wouldn't get the builder to put in any special pockets for devices, just heaps of cat-6 in the walls. In 5 years time, everything will be different again.
