Samsung HW-Q990C/XY Soundbar $1276 ($1995 RRP) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys Commercial (Membership Required)

110

Not the cheapest it's ever been, but considering TGG have it part of their Father's Day sale at $1595, and JB have it for $1594 this is pretty good for a top of the line soundbar, with included rears and a sub woofer.

Sensational sound can be yours, with 11.1.4-channel sound and Wireless True Dolby ATMOS & DTS:X connection1 on the Q990C Q-Series Home Theatre Soundbar. The perfect match for Samsung Neo QLED TV with Q-Symphony and included Rear Speakers synchronising sound to your room.

      • Ah ok 2 months ago my local GG had cleared them out… Nothing on shelf besides JBL

This a current model and considered top-of-the-line soundbar. Many reviewers love it.

Samsung soundbars are released around Feb/March.

  • That's annoying we cannot try and return for change of mind if anything goes wrong like Samsung offers in the US or Bose in Australia.

I bought a bose soundbar 900 and I'm having some connectivity issues so I'd be happy to test the Samsung if I can return it in case it doesn't work seamlessly.

    • Bose and Sammys seem to have an issue. My brother-in law's friends, girlfriends uncle has Bose 600 with Sammy miniLED. Multiple desyncs etc. He is being driven insane….

    • Second this.

Yeah, that's the part I don't understand. There is no way to tell how a soundbar performs in your space without opening the box. Asked the same to the TGG girl at the soundbar section, and she asked me to wait while that was being checked with the store manager. Unsurprisingly, she came back and said unless there is a defect they can't take it back and that's how they do the business. The weird part was the store manager ran back to his cave when I asked if I could speak to him.

    • So the question is should I keep the Bose or buy the samsung?
The samsung is the best soundbar this year according to rtings but I can't access of the comparison in details as it's not free anymore :/ I think it's only better for movies.
I don't like the design but it has the sub and only cost a little bit more.

      Hard to decide :)

Bought the Q990C 5 weeks ago for $1,148. This is my first soundbar. Have not had any connectivity issues with the rear speakers and sub. App also works well. Sound is subjective but to me it sounds great for both music and movies. I'm really surprised how a soundbar can produce such a punch and I have a big room. And you get Dolby Atmos as well. Also at this price it cheaper than in the US/UK/EU which is really surprising.
I went to JB to have a listen and ask for price beat. The sales rep would only price match. So I rang TGG for a price beat and got it cheaper. Should have also tried JB online to ask for a price beat to compare. Anyway very happy with the purchase.

    • Amazon returns

      • For change of mind??

      • Anyway Amazon doesn't sell this one as of today

  • I bought the Q950T in 2020 and considered upgrading to the Q990C. However, when I saw the Nakamichi Dragon (released this month), it currently seems to be the best soundbar in the market. It is very expensive though.

I am hoping Samsung will have a better version next year to compete with the Dragon.

    • Yeah, that's an awesome bit of kit, but is it worth about 4x the price of this? Or about twice the price of the Sony HT 9?

  • Off topic, any 85-100inch TV (under $4k) recommendation for media room?
Or should wait till boxing day sale?
Do we expect any better sale before boxing day for TVs?

  • How are the rear powered. Power brick?

    • +1

No brick, just a power cord.
