Is There a Kettle That Doesn't Has Plastic under The Lid?

Hi,

My old stainless steel kettle just died, the hinge (made of plastic) that connect the lid & the body snapped off. Due to constant heat-stress … I suspect that much.

It's 2023 and I can't find a 'normal' kettle that doesn't has a plastic bit under the lid … Am I missing something? Come to think of it, I've been drinking BPA plastic all these years …

The closest that I can find is this Healthy Choice Digital Glass Kettle with Tea Infuser 1.2L

Plastic everywhere Russell Hobbs Brita Glass Kettle, Russell Hobbs Attentiv Kettle

Buy an old school stove top kettle. Proper made ones last for decades.

    • May have to

drinking BPA plastic all these years

Yeah it's in our water already

Mind you the best solution to the problems flagged in the Intergenerational report pertaining to aging population could be solved by a reduction in the tobacco excise ,

Im drinking filtered water, I want to get my health to a optimum level that I know how to. There's a long list that Im already achieved, still more to do …

The first thing you should invest in is a reverse osmosis water filter. It gets rid of all the toxic heavy metals, chlorine, fluoride which is shown in many studies it causes a decrease in IQ in children and passes the blood brain barrier impacting our pineal glands. Thing is boiling doesn't get rid of it. Sadly I'm currently a brokie so I'm stuck drinking distilled matrix tap water.

This says "glass body kettle with stainless steel trim and lid" but would be good to check it.

The old version of this stove top one has stainless on the underside of the lid.

@stingydonkey kindly shared this Kogan kettle which seems to have a stainless steel layer on the lid, and even provided a video of how it looks inside. This is sort of similar to the KitchenAid kettle but much more cost-effective.

This is so far top of my list - but giving myself a bit more time in case I come across one that specifically mentions food-grade steel - like the Cosori and Xiaomi overseas ones of this type do.

    • That's the one hit all the requirement. I will buy 2 to save on shipping cost. Cheers mate

Kogan First provides free shipping, and you can try it for free for 14 days. Remember to cancel though - as I read in another thread recently, that someone forgot to do so, got billed $99, and could not get Kogan to refund.

You got no idea how happy to find a no plastic kettle lol. I already have the small one [from op shop] that can go on the stove. Cheers.

          • @frewer: Hey @frewer ! You end up getting this Kogan one right? Could you tell me if it is completely free of plastic or still has some inside?
            Cheers mate!

BTW I checked again and the Kogan one does in fact mention food-grade 304 stainless steel.
