Any travel insurance that covers airline scheduling/operational/mechanical delays/cancellations?
So far it seems SCTI does, and I dont mind their higher base price, but it starts to get out of hand when adding preexisting conditions, ended up at about $3k quote for my trip.
A few do mechanical but nothing else in the airline's control.
But the majority I've checked cover nothing in the airline's control. What is the better choice

Or insure and go which has 20% off scri works out cheaper even with the insure and go 20% off. I’m talking about the gold cover.
But does scti cover have covid included as I’m rather confused on that part how does this compare to the insure and go gold cover or even these guys on this new post by op.
SCTI is definitely better, after reviewing many PDS I believe SCTI to be the #1 travel insurance in Australia (and I have had good personal experience with them in the past).
Some of their limits are low though (usually the case with good insurance unfortunately, its usually the bad ones with high limits but lots of exclusions), they do cover covid but the limit is something like $2.5k only, check the separate covid PDS they have on their website.
If SCTI is cheaper I'd definitely go with the, even if its a little more expensive I would still go with them. Just check what they charge for pre-existing conditions as it can be a lot and my current reason for looking elsewhere for my trip next year.
I thought I'd compare them with medical conditions. Allianz had no extra cost and SCTI added extra $10. Overall Allianz worked out to be $40 cheaper in my testing.
I’m not sure who to go with insure n go or scti as scti is cheaper but is covid cover as good I’m comparing this to gold insure n go, we don’t have any medical conditions
SCTI is always more expensive however it is easy to get coverage even if your going to have surgery tomorrow. (Note your not covered for delays caused by that surgery). You will need to declare absolute pre-existing condition and pay an excess for this.
SCTI PDS is also much uses much more clearer language then every other travel insurance company. Just remember to upgrade cancelation for prepaid expenses if you cancel your flight before travel as this is rather low for SCTI.
Look with travel insurance cheaper is not always better when it comes to claims.
@pandadude: I want to go with these but they only cover paying customers and if whole family could not fly due to covid ie both parents had covid it would not cover us as our kids and our flights cost more than they pay.
they do cover covid but the limit is something like $2.5k only, check the separate covid PDS they have on their website.
Yes but I don’t understand the info on the covid cover my flights was 10k will $50 under for family of 4 two kids and adults so 2.5k would cover it right if was covid right.
I’m just trying to compare policies with the gold insure n go policy like for like.
My understanding is only adults (paying persons) count to the limits as dependent kids are free, so should be $5k limit for covid related.
As my flights for all of us cost $9950 how does that work if any of us was to catch covid and caused issue going or returning etc
And is cover extra or included in the international insurance
I’m still not sure what one to go withi get alliance at $376.35 with $100 excesses with the discount.
I get insure n go with same excesses gold cover with discount $467.12
And I get scti same excess as above two and cost of $414.50
I’m just not sure who to go with out why obviously covid is not such a thing anymore but is still out there and I’m just confused who overs best covid of the three.
I just need to be sure we would be covered if covid got any of us.
We are two adults and two kids 11 and 7Alliance is cheapest followed by scti then insure and go.
Some promos end this month so want to take advantage of this discounts.?
What confuses me if dependents are free cover does that mean the full amount I get paid back if worst happened and my my question is the covid thing also. On the scti cover I can add more cover if I needed to cancel trip etc etc
It’s set at $2500
If covid they only give $2500 per person upto $5000 per trip.I not got exact figures handy but kids are always bit less than adult fares but the likes of scti maybe otters the same kids are free cover?
Now say for example we or couple of us had covid we paid $9950 if I remember right short short of $10,000 are scti saying I be covered for this.
Hold on this trip is a return so the cover they are offering is probably enough?
It’s just the kids free cover part that gets me, if we had to change or cancel or got covid all im interested in does it cover our costs paid or to cover re booking as that’s the reason for insurance not out of pocket.
I not got exact costs per person but I’m sure if I look it up it will give more details, this flight also includes a connection flight within the country as well all included in the total cost of flight.I’m tempted to go with scti as they have very good reviews and many happy customers, but is it as good as the other two I’m looking at.
I have today and tomorrow to pick from one of them before any discounts don’t work.If we are just worried about covid I’m thinking if they say $5000 per trip well this would be our first trip to destination not a return and yes it might cover the costs for me and wife ie kids covered free.
I personally would need to get the prices I paid as I suspect ours will be more cost than kids.Protect yourself in case you need to cancel or change your trip before you set off. Ideally select the maximum amount each paying person would need to be reimbursed to cover costs such as flights, hotels, tours and activities if you needed to cancel or change your journey. This limit excludes cancellation and changes due to COVID-19 which have a maximum benefit of $2,500 per paying person, up to $5,000 per journey – please read our COVID-19 SPDS for full details of the COVID-19 benefits we offer.
Is this different from the credit card travel insurance you get through Allianz?
