Thank you OP for the great deal. But being the 1st Gen I would love to wait for new release and see some changes.

    • Yeah same and I hope no more of the fit bit nonsense

  • +7

price is tempting but id wait for 2nd gen, better battery with new soc

    • What's the avg battery on this?

      • +1

usually a day or two from my friends testing

  • +3

The price is actually turning out to be 274.5, exactly 50% off rrp

    • 1% to trigger the button

  • How are you getting this price for the non lte watch. Shows up on google for 329 and even with 10% discount it is not adding up (or subtracting well).

    • +1

It takes the price off original rrp

  • +4

Shame the 256GB pixel pro is out of stock

  • +3

Sounds like a runout sale. Expect a gen 2 watch and pixel 8 in October.

    • -2

That's crazy!? Google releasing a new phone in October. Unheard of.

  • +2

I bought the pixel 7 in the Telstra sale. Find it tombe very buggy.

Not big things but e.g playing music from apps when the app isn't running.

Playing audio from two streaming apps at the same time.

Car mode also doesn't work with dual sim.

    Not what I expected.

    • +1

      Flash a custom rom

Reach out to google support. They have great customer service. If they cannot fix your issue, they will replace your phone and if it happens on the new one, they will refund

      • -7

Even Telstra would refund but I don't think anyone wants to get a refund for that considering it costed only 499

    • these are android workings not problem(weird for sure):
you need to stop music in the apps.
audio focus is what causes multiple apps to access audio output device at same time.

      • +6

I have android phones for the past decade and if you are playing music in Spotify and open a video on YouTube the music automatically gets stopped, same as if you are background playing a YouTube video and start Spotify. There isn't supposed to be 2 things playing at once and I've never had that happen with any of my Android phone, I don't own a pixel 7 though.

Can you give an example of how to get two playing at once? I'll see if it happens on my phone.

        • check poster's apps on stock(or close to stock) android
          or
any audio apps on Samsung (settings + independent controls available).

This review also substantiates the bug problems. Honestly I really want to like this phone… And even with the bugs still kinda do; but a company the size of Google who literally writes the OS for companies to use on their phones SHOULD be able to release a bug free phone like many other manufacturers are able to do.

I used to think that other manufacturers custom rims were just bloatware but perhaps they are actually just compensating for the inherent bugs that are in the core OS?

No matter what, I must still be better than an iPhone.. returning back to android after 2 horrendous years with iphones (two se 2nd gens, 2 12 minis).. If I recall more than 10 years of owning androids, none died just because of an update, none developed sound quality or speaker issues just because of updating it, none had any touch issues, none of those were slower than comparable models for no reason.. feeling relieved to pickup an old android until the new pixel 6a is delivered.. At least I now I can flash legionos or any other alternate if pixel experience doesn't taste that good… but then if you are returning from an awful experience of ios, you love android experience… iPhone is sheer garbage..

Is there a better Android watch at this price point? To be honest a slightly longer battery life and faster chipset isn't going to be worth the 2-3 month wait and +$400 in cost at launch for me

    • +1

Galaxy watches are better sometimes at these price points.

      • Can't seem to find a comparable one at $280

        • fleabay. lots of people got a galaxy watch for free as part of a deal

    • +2

Galaxy watches are worth looking at. I'm rocking a pixel 7 and galaxy watch 5 pro and it's a decent combo. I prefer the more "watch like" look of the galaxy watch series personally but I don't think the pixel watches look "bad".

    • +2

I believe Samsung would be better in every way but this one has a really sleek design compared to any other watches. The voice was crackling that's why I returned mine (LTE)

I will pull the trigger as the OBs say, when the price is below $250 for Bluetooth.

Got the P7P during EOFY sale for the same price replacing a OnePlus 5. Great phone and love it.

Makes me wonder if it's worth it buying from "big day (EOFY, Black Friday, Boxing Day, Google Anniversary)" sales when regular sales are pretty much the same or even better haha.

    • Agree, got it a couple of months back for this price. Superb value, very happy with the phone.

And yes, most of those sales don't offer anything special that you can't find elsewhere and at other times.

    • How's the camera?

      • It's very sharp and catches a lot of details. Some people like iPhone and Samsung cameras that gives very nice saturation to photos. The pixel is more towards true to colour, so sometimes it might look a bit dull in colour. You can try to play with some comparison on gsmarena.

        • dxo rates it very high. only problem is it's double the price of the pixel 7.

          • @belongsinforums: I think the main sensor is the same. Just different ultrawide and no telephoto. If you don't see the need for zooming in a lot, it should be fine to get the 7.

EOFY didn't have the 7 on sale; only 6a and 7 Pro, so I ended up getting the Pro.

  • I found from my own experience, the integration between Samsung watches and Google Pixel phones was not that seamless when compared to Samsung phone to Samsung watch.

    • -2

Not sure how this is relevant to the deal?

  • The watch is not worth, even at half price.

    • Why what happen with yours?

      • the chip inside is really old one, because of that battery life is pretty shit. Now i own galaxy watch 5 44mm, which is much better.

        • I hear the battery life can be variable depending on usage. Two things I read today that turned me off the watch:

          1. It can't auto detect a workout apparently.
          2. It also can't auto detect a high/low ecg.

Those are some nice to haves I would think. Hopefully the next one is a bit better featured.

  • All watches on wear os 2.0 will be losing google assist support from aug 31 2023.

  • Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but how does the $869.10 price work for the Google Pixel 7 Pro?

    • +1

The 10% off voucher from studentbeans provides the 10% off RRP. $129.90 off 999.

      • Ok, I thought it was off the $999 sale price, I was looking at a 7 or 7A but the tele lense is making this tempting.

  • Guys, will the LTE version work with Woolworths Mobile (Telstra under the hood)?

  • Anyone think the pixel 7 pro will be much cheaper in October when the 8 is released? Wondering if it's worth waiting.

    • +1

I second this. Not really needing another phone yet but if it gets reduced even more I may bite.

  • I'm waiting for the 5G version

  • +1

Just wanted to say thanks, got the 7 Pro
