  • 950 Lumens? Is it real?

    • nah, maybe a few hundred.

  • +10

What is its length and weight, Rep? Any good for cracking people over the back of the head when they get outta line.. and then lighting up the way so I don't trip over as I flee the scene?

    • +4

      Hi,
      Dimensions 5.39" x 1.25" x 0.86" / 13.7 x 3.2 x 2.2cm (L x Head Dia.x Body Dia.)
      Weight 116g / 4.09oz

see what others say about the light, we have make promotion of the product before:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76233

  • does it have the thing that as the battery drains the light doesn't fade as well (regulator?)

    • +5

I have both of them, UltraFire WF-502B has good quality, much brighter.
Led lenser p7 has good box for gift, and great bag.

        • +1

I have a the following torches floating around the house…

As far as brightness goes IMO:

          Ultrafire C8 > 502B >…….(10x)…….> RICHUANG P36 > NEW-10B

        • +2

502B is just the casing. Its pretty generic, a lof of different Cree LEDs fit inside it.

Its a pretty good case though, especially for the very cheap price.

        • +4

Not necessarily, the CREE XM-LT6 can hit 10W depending on its driver board and casing to house multiple 18650s or CR123As.

The 502B and C8 might have the same LED & Driver board, but the spread is noticeably larger on the C8 than the 502B, the 502B probably feels the best, but the C8 provides the right coverage/view & brightness.

I got one last time, good quality good price.

  • ordered one, thanks

Wide beam is ideal for light the path, intense spot penetrates deep into the darkness

Why doesn't it say "zoom" anywhere?

Does it have one or not?

EDIT: no it doesn't - this is the same as the one i bought last time around 1 Aug this year.

    • +1

      nope, no zoom.

  • Any suggestions for batterie and charger….

  • +2

Will give one a go and compare to the Meritline ones that I already have :)

Here is a review on the candle power website from a few years back. Looks good.

    http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?163854-Ul…

    • That review is for the XR-E model. This one will be much brighter.
Maybe even brighter than the old model was rated at :)

  • Does it come with battery and charger?

    • Hi,
It doesn't come with battery and charger.
You need to get one by yourself.

  • +1

Bought one. TMart is mostly ok. They screw up orders a bit though. Ive had two out of four orders broken. They are also a bit hard to get orders fixed. But once they cave they do make it right :)

    • +5

      Hi,
For our customer service have too many letters and cases to deal with, sometimes it would be later to fix some orders.
But if you guys(ozbargainers) contact me, and I can help you get your orders fixed at the first time.

It's the only the right for the ozbargainers. Haha, do not hesitate to contact me: [email protected]

While this comment could be looked at in a way that is quite disconcerting to prospective customers…

For our customer service have too many letters and cases to deal with

..I mean like, who wants to bother with a company who is already up to their eyeballs with unhappy customers, right?

But then the rest of the post made up for it and was quite reassuring. Thanks for giving us a direct line to you, Rep, so that you can get any issues sorted pronto for us. An admirable gesture.. cheers! :)

  • How does it compare to this one?:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CREE-LED-7W-Q5-Bulb-High-Power-Fl…

Can it use a AA battery?

    • +4

Apples and oranges. The light you've linked to has an adjustable focus mechanism (aspheric lens) instead of a reflector and uses AAA batteries (not AA like the listing states). It also uses a CREE XR-E Q5 LED, which would only put out somewhere between 150 and 250 lumens (less than that when zoomed out).

EDIT: Correction. That torch does use a single AA. Seems to be a minaturized version of one of these, which I actually bought from Bunnings ages ago: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7W-CREE-Q5-LED-3Mode-Flashlight-1…

This 502b on the other hand is what they call a P60 host. See here to learn what that means: http://flashlightwiki.com/P60

This particular one from Tmart has a drop-in with a CREE XM-L T6 LED which, depending on how it's driven, could put out anywhere between 500-800 lumens. Mostly likely it would be 600-700 or so. It also uses 18650 sized lithium batteries so no, you can't use AAs.

      • thank you.

  • Hey Rep,

Any coupons for the UltraFire HD2010? This one is awesome and recommended!

    • +2

Picked up a HD2010 just yesterday for $30.84 using coupon code: TMPRICE (8% off)

(This coupon is single use only, per customer)

      • +1

Awesome! Thanks Cainn. Code still works if people are interested!

    • +3

If many of you guys recommend UltraFire HD2010, chances are that I can apply for the coupon successfully.

So just tell me your recommendation. It's welcomed.

      • Hey Rep. I just bought it anyways. Good price. Ummm, does the UltraFire HD2010 include a 26650 to 18650 sleeve with it? I'm not sure..

      • +2

If you want to generate interest, please head over to http://budgetlightforum.com/ and start a thread there. I guarantee you that there will be a lot of interest in a special deal on a HD2010, especially if you can get the price significantly below $30.

Then you can come back and let all the ozbargainers know too!

        • Hmmm. Looking at the forum, it seems like you do receive a 18650 battery sleeve…

Hope the rep can confirm this..

        • Hi, shopbot,
          There is no sleeve.
You can see the Ultrafire HD2010 review in details here: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/9708
          Yes, the HD2010 is awesome.

        • Hmmm. I was looking at multiple threads on the forum and all were saying the sleeve was included from Tmart. May I ask since when you guys stop providing these? That's a bummer! Damn!

        • Hi,
it all subjects to the description on our site:
          " Package Includes
          1 x UltraFire WF-502B CREE XM-L T6 950LM 5 Mode LED Flashlight Black "

        • No worries. I already bought it. Just want to know since when you guys stop providing it?I can't even see it on the site as a separate purchase. Did you guys simply just ran out of it?

So I'm guessing as well, no lanyard provided?

        • Some of our torch come with lanyards and some don't. It depends.
We still provide sleeve, please see this one: http://www.tmart.com/UltraFire-Flashlight-Case-Cover-Black_p…

I got one of those in 1600 lumens off ebay… it is freakin' bright.

    edit:
    $9
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200751143078
    $9 slightly larger
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221121434193

    • +2

When we're talking single XM-L lights, anything much over 850 lumens or so is a lie. 1600 lumens is a big whopper of a lie.

(not saying that YOU are lying, just the seller/manufacturer)

      • +1

probably. I bought a 1200lm (powered by 3xAAA) and compared to the 1600lm it's slightly brighter.

But it's definitely a lot brighter than a Cateye I had, and a lot cheaper and compact too.

I have a light meter at home and I can test all three lights I have at home. But at the moment I'm still waiting for a 18650 charger to arrive…

PS the edit I wrote above should be $15 for the first one.

        • is the 1200lm that you bought from eBay too?
the authentic/original brand is different to generic/fake brand
rating of those fake brand should not be trusted

        • Alright, so here are the results. My light meter is a "lux meter", in other words, it measures the illuminance (light being illumated on to a surface). I had this when I did a uni project a while ago.

Illuminance (lux = SI unit) has units of [lm/m^2].

Lux meter (off eBay) used is LX1010B. It has an exposure area of ~4cm diameter circle => A=0.00125663706m^2. This means I had to shine the torch at a height where all of the light is aimed at the receiver.

Model Battery Claimed luminous flux [lm] Measured luminous flux [lm] Difference [%]
          Cateye HL-EL340 2xAA 322* 377 +17
          Cree XML T6 standard 3xAAA 1200 1005 -16
          Cree XML T6 mini 1x18650 1600 1307 -18

          Notes:
The Cateye was a bit tricky to measure as the beam was rectangular. All of the measured values were estimates only but around about the correct order as the values fluctuated quite a bit (~50lx). It also depended on how zoomed in/out the torches are (~150lx).

*The Cateye value was originally given as 1000cd, which after some trig turns out to be ~322lm.

          Batteries were ~70-80% full (guesstimated).

Overall I'd recommend the mini torch coz it is really bright and compact. The Cateye is too bulky (IMO doesn't look cool on my bike), and was also the most expensive.

I would give these results a +-10% just for the gross inaccuracy incurred with the test but they should give you an idea whether about the actual brightness of these torches.

Finally someone posted that the 18650 batteries may explode… I'd go for the Panasonic one and don't charge overnight just to be a bit safer.

        • Yep it's off eBay. It's one of those Ultrafire Cree XML T6s…

        • Your margin of error is greater than +-10%.

          See here: http://flashlightwiki.com/Brightness_Bins

Even if one of those XM-L T6 lights is pulling over 3A, once you factor in losses actual OTF lumens just aren't going to exceed 900 or so. It just doesn't happen. Not while inside a typical host anyway. Too much heat, and too much loss from a standard reflector. You wont find anyone with a properly calibrated integrating sphere claiming numbers as high as yours.

        • This was supposed to be a 5 minute test… no way is it scientific. So I do agree there would be higher losses. But just giving the relative comparison between the three torches.

  • +1

hi guys, if you purchase this torch i would recommend buying a 18650 battery that is PROTECTED.

unprotected batteries are relatively unstable and are prone to explosions if u over or undercharge them.

  • Hey there! Does anyone know if there's a pressure switch available for this unit, so it can be mounted on a rifle stock? Can't find anything on the site… Cheers!
