  • Sorry if this is a stupid question

just checking email messages , Facebook , web browsing , etc , no streaming , no YouTube. and wi-Fi off the NBN modem when I’m home I still go through at least 10 -15 gig a month
how does six gig last one month nowadays ?

    • +2

Easily, but it's a person by person proposition.

      • Agree, it depends on person to person for sure. I've only used 20.5GB in 10 months.

I’d check your phone for abnormal network activities. Turn off random apps that asks for internet access. Uber for example, was eating up data like crazy on a friend’s phone some time ago. If it’s Apple, turn of app background refresh or just run it in low battery mode always.

Also auto-loading images in emails should be off anyway.

      • There is no way they are auto loading 10gb of images on emails

        • If it’s on, you really have no idea what you are loading, blobs that self-identifies as images for example. But yeah it’s more likely to be some apps doing stuff, not necessarily suspicious but annoying.

  • Do you guys reckon the TIO should ban the word "unlimited" on mobile plans that have data which cuts off?

It makes it hard to figure out at a glance which mobile plans cut people off spontaneously, and SURELY people who are attracted to the word "unlimited" aren't expecting that. I don't care if it's 64kbps or 128kbps even… Like… come on.
It's not that I'd want to ever use it, but how many old people get fooled thinking their phone is just "unlimited", especially since all of Telstra's plans are unlimited data? I like that bill shock is in the past, but what about being stranded without data? Would bloody hate trying to fumble trying to ever figure out how to buy a data pack in a hurry.
It'd be nice if some mobile plans could be like "hey you used up all your data, so tomorrow your speeds will be restricted unless you buy a pack".

People should be able to read more than one word in a row and have an understanding of generally how mobile phone operators work in Australia.

That being said, they do say of themselves, "EzySIM is proud to be recognized as the go-to mobile service provider for migrants coming to Australia and travellers seeking trustworthy roaming plans. Our services boast unparalleled connectivity across borders, enabling customers to effortlessly stay connected with their loved ones and businesses worldwide."

I'm not sure how that is, if they've only been around for two months, but travellers and migrants may not be aware of the vagaries of Australian mobile providers, vis-à-vis the fragmenting of the audience due to cable television, carnivals, water parks. Well, you're fired because you don't use your arms when you tap-dance.

So this is actually $4.50 the first moth (1/2 price of promo $9 first month).
Ongoing it is $19 per month.

Check under shop > esim > sweet plan.

  • +1

I would assume that this is just a promotion to attract customers and then change the plan back to $19 from $9

  • Just signed up with them because I am overseas a.t.m. and wanted to use the wifi calling feature, but can't seem to make it work. (Wifi calling is switched on in Android) Any suggestions, please?

    • +1

Wi-Fi and VoLTE is a domestic feature. only works within Australia, If you were to use overseas you must have roaming added.

      • thank you.
It was working fine with my Boost Sim though.

      • Try a VPN? No idea if it would work.

  • I doubt it. This is from Telstra site.
    Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive phone calls over a home Wi-Fi connection. Your compatible Telstra mobile will use a Wi-Fi network to connect with other compatible devices "within Australia", giving you another way to make and receive calls when our 3G layer closes during 2024.

  • Wi-Fi calling from Telstra is working perfectly fine in overseas I used many many times, volte is only for domestic use.

  • Is this a physical sim card? I have been waiting for something to be delivered.

    • I called them and they said they'd send one in a day. Three days later 2 show up with different covering letters. I'm still not sure if this was a physical SIM deal.
