Interesting - what isn't garbage to you? Don't think these can be that bad at $49, and they're probably similar to what Kathmandu sell for $199.
interesting indeed "synthetic insulation made from post-consumer waste"
What would you rather it be made from? Animals?
@JeBs: I'm holding out for a Soylent Green jacket.
People jump to conclusion without knowing the fact but they always seems to think they know better! i.e. Trump & it's fans, many others here too.
I recently got a reply: "mate, you should learn a bit of history" when he really should know a bit MORE history than the shallow statement from many media outlets.
I wish the mens would be this price also
Mens is 79,not exactly the same but a good deal

Oh yes, I bet you can afford new…
Aside from that, pointless having all the money in the world if the oceans are toxic and the air unbreathable because people opt for non-recycled. Plus I’d take third world country any day of the year so long as quality controls are in place - like they should be too in developed nations. Incidentally, R.M. Williams makes some of their top tier goods in China, and so does Apple for that matter.
But getting to the point - are you racist?
Synthetic is generally much warmer than down when wet and under certain circumstances it will save lives. There is a reason all the best outdoor gear brands make insulated jackets with synthetic materials.
This $600+ jacket from KUIU uses fiberball which is 70% recycled material. https://www.kuiu.com/products/flyway-insulated-hooded-jacket…
This (originally) $450 jacket uses Patagonia's plumafill which is 100% recycled polyster. https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-micro-puff-hoody/8403…
This $400 one from Arc'teryx uses coreloft compact which is 45% recycled polyster. https://arcteryx.com.au/products/atom-lt-hoody-mens-4?varian…
Unfortunately, recycled synthetics shed just as much as non-recycled and that microplastic is still going into our water and air.
Yes, but the cost to the environmental is still higher with non-recycled synthetics. There’s no perfect solution, but recycled is almost always best.
