I have a benchtop dishwasher and this stuff works way better than the tablets (they don't dissolve properly).

It looks like they're price matching BigW but with Amazon's subscribe and save you can get it for better than half price and then cancel your S&S so you don't get stung when they revert to original price.

  • How is this compared to using finish tablets ?

    • +1

I can't speak for a full-size dishwasher but in my little benchtop dishwasher the finish tablets don't dissolve correctly and my dishes never wash properly. The gel seems to work a lot better.

The coffee ring on my mug was still there. I don't think this one is very effective.

    • for Small dw like benchtops or half sizes a liquid or gell is better due to easier dissolve in water.

  • The somat tablets arnt that good.

    • I don't use the tablets either, this deal is for the gel.

      Tablets are a scam

Powder is best use tea spoon

  • Try powder dude.

  • Choice said Sommat products are the best rated, which probably explains why they are amongst the most expensive.

  • OP, what dishwasher do you have and did you run the it on a hot cycle?

I have a Bosch and even though I run it on the regular hot cycle, the finish tablets don't seem to dissolve properly. I can still see some residue of powder around the tablet tray.

There is also a bit of a soapy feel to the water when the cycle is finished when I open the dishwasher. As in the water feels soapy. I initially didn't know what this was, then realised it must be undissolved soap.

I bought some powder, thinking I can use a small amount, but haven't run a cycle yet. I didn't know gel exists. This might be worth a try.

    20c per cycle sounds ok.

I put the Finish tablet on the bottom of the dishwasher before starting the machine so it has more time to dissolve and no longer have any problems with powdery residue at end of the cycle. It would be worth checking that your dishwasher rinse cycle is working correctly - my previous dishwasher was doing the wash part of the cycle but not the rinse, so the detergent wasn't getting rinsed off.

Don't some dishwashers have some kind of pre rinse cycle though? And the tablet door only gets opened after the pre rinse is done? If you dissolve the tablet early by just putting it in the dishwasher rather than the tablet dispenser, there might not be any detergent in the main cycle.

Any idea how to do this? I read that you can put a cup and run the washing machine to see if the machine arm is spraying water properly. I might have to put the cup in just before the rinse cycle. However, there are undissolved bits of powder in a certain part of the dishwasher. So I suspect that for some reason, water just doesn't manage to get to that part and dissolve the tablet properly.

Not sure if it's the tablets I'm using, which are Finish tablets, or some design issue with the machine. I will try the liquid and powder instead of the tablets and see if the water is still soapy.

Yes, my dishwasher has a pre-rinse cycle, but the dishes come out clean and without any noticeable detergent residue, so I don't mind what part of the cycle has the bulk of the detergent in it.

I was able to tell my dishwasher wasn't rinsing by the sound - the machine was indicating it was in the rinse part of the cycle but it wasn't making the normal water spraying sound.

          • @mdsh: What was the issue with the rinse cycle not working properly?

            • @warmfruit: Sorry, I'm not sure - it was a long time ago.

        • With the Finish tablet without a red ball, I can drop it in the bottom and get a good wash in the end. The one with the ball seems to dissolve faster so the wash was still oily in the end, so I put it in the tablet dispenser.

  • We use these at work after finding, just like you, tablets weren't cutting the mustard.

Not cheap but they work really well.

    • A knife would probably be a better choice to cut mustard….

  • Ive been using the aldi tablets for many years never had an issue.
    But keen to try this

  • I also have a benchtops dishwasher . This does work ,but still a little pricey even when on sale.
Have found the Woolies own brand powder works best and is $3.90 for a large plastic container, only use around a tablespoon or less for each load.
Have found that the layest Coles and ALDI home brand ones are nice to the environment now and not as great on the dishes.
