So useless.. but also so tempting

    • this. it's too much money. then I remember that Aliexpress has some open-source versions of it at a third of the cost…

  • +5

Inner-child wants it, but adult-child can't afford it.

  • i get paid midweek i hope this is still available then but i suspect it won't

  • I think Lego needs to learn their lesson not to increase their prices by 20% cos more and more sets will go on sales within a month of release.

    • They are probably fine with that, they can make an extra 20% on suckers and then drop to the 'real' price.

  • If it's anything like the NES version, it's worth it.

  • +1

It's surprisingly a complex build and is very realistic. Got it when it was last on sale.
Even though the NES one is more interactive, it's much more delicate and has to be unjammed after a little bit of use. Happy for the kids to play with the Atari as it's pretty robust.

  • +2

I genuinely don't understand these sets.

You can buy an actual Atari 2600 in reasonable shape for this money and put that on your bench.

    • Nobody plays the actual Atari anyway, it's just the collectable/display value.

      • I do! But even if just for display, a real Atari is so much more legit than a lego one.

        • +1

Oh really? Yes I agree the real thing is far better (for Atari fans). But it does not have the building & fun experience from Lego. And some Lego fans would see the charm in it. I certainly won't, but then again I wouldn't spend couple hundreds for the actual Atari in these times and ages (I too grew up with them).

          • @itstuan: Yeah it's a completely different experience. Brick building and straight just playing an Atari are two different things.

    • +2

Agree. Buying the actual Atari 2600 has better collectable value (and you can also play nostalgic game on it).
This LEGO model is just for display. Cannot play games. No sentimental value. Expensive. Overall just a stupid idea. .

  • Which SD cards does this require?

    • +2

Probably only LEGO branded SD cards…

    • -1

SD cards weren't even around when the Atari was..?

  • +1

when i was young, I alwasy told myself when I grow up ill buy any legos I want.
Me now: can't even afford to buy when it is on promotion cry
