    Another one for the holliGaNs

        • +1

well if it really dangerous, probably too late and get burned while waiting that guy comes

    • +1

      It's a 💩 charger.

    • -2

Reporting his crap and seeing it land himself in the penalty box was satisfying. Don't spam deals, troll and make joke posts ;)

  • so, question. if we have this technology like this, small charger of 65W why those laptop manufacturers are still giving us the usual big brick of charging thing for their laptops?

    • +17

      Cos cheaper

    • +1

Quality components, heatsinks, shielding, etc. All take space

    • Gallium nitride chargers are smaller but more expensive, also the budget ones can get really hot when you ask them to supply that 65w for hours on end like you would with a more powerful laptop. They do ok when asked to supply that 65w for half an hour to burst charge a phone.

  • +14

I've been using one of these daily for 12 months to charge my laptop and I've yet to burn down my house.

    • +12

judging by your username, it would be a disaster if it was to happen at your place

      • +7

        🏠🧪💎💥😱

    • I thought Crystal would be fireproof!?

      • +4

I've read some people are able to smoke it. Not sure how.

        • +1

HAHa in that case this deal would go up in smoke!

        • +1

chinese crystal probably. they can produce them at wholesale price. just like this charger

  • +2

Is HEYMIX any better in Build Quality (parts used) when compared to LENCENT Universal Travel Adapter, GaN III 65W 2 USB Ports & 3 USB-C PD US$15.07 (~A$23.24) Shipped @ Cutesliving AliExpress
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/792489

Any reviewers do a teardown to compare the parts used?

    • Slow sales coupled with deflation in China should bring cheaper products to the market?

    • +1

The Anker one you linked has been much cheaper in the past, I bought my last two (GaNPrime 65W) for $53 each, apparently the previous GaN model (Nano II 65W) has been as low as $40. I don't think either option is perfect but I've had way more issues with Heymix chargers.

  • +2

My experience with Heymix products are… Very mixed…..

    • as long the mix doesnt include fire, im fine

    • Hey, why are they a mixed experience?

      • some of the product works fine, others seized working after a week or something…. i wouldn't say its a reliable brand

  • +15

fwiw, i bought one of theirs back in january - genuinely lasted 1sec. I plugged it in, it went pop and tripped the fuse. returned it immediately.
Been staying clear of Heymix since.

    • -5

Screenshot that you really returned this? Or didn't happen.

      • +2

        screenshot of the pop ?

        • +3

sound recording of the pop, photos of it, send it to my address for me to assess, refund and purchase receipt or didn't happen

      • +1

        🙄

    • +1

I agree and had a similar experience. Heymix sucks

  • +1

You guys are on fire with all these Heymix deals!

        • Great for insurance jobs. Almost makes it look legit.

  • +1

    ordered
    YOLO

  • +2

I have been using my Heymix 65W GaN charger for 2 years now, zero problem.

    • Good to know. Obviously Heymix has working units, but it is just their rate of defective units is relatively high.

  • +2

Buy these for your nearest and dearest enemies

  • Have one of these and works a treat. Also got other heymix chargers and they work great with my MacBook and iphone.

  • If anyone is game enough to use the Heymix powerboard, it comes with a 65W USB-C port to save you needing to buy one of these to plug into a powerboard.

    • Bought one (heymix powerboard usb-c), it has this weird thing where everytime I connect a new device to charge all existing devices appear to disconnect and reconnect their charging

Whether it's a phone / laptop they all stop charging then reinitiate - first time I've experienced this even though I've used many multi port chargers

      • +1

A limitation but not unusual for multi-port USB-C chargers:
        https://www.reddit.com/r/UsbCHardware/comments/r9r1nf/normal…

      • That is a widely reported behaviour of these chargers- they reset/renegotiate existing connections whenever you make a new one.

      • It's normal because the power supply needs to lower the power given to the first connection when plugging in the second connection in order to stay within the total power rating, and that requires reinitialisation.

This charger's first connection can supply 65W when no other connections are being used. When the second connection is used, they probably both drop to 33W and if all three are used, they would probably drop to 20W per port. The exact numbers vary from device to device.

It's pretty obvious when you have a power meter. You can also look videos of people testing simmilar chargers on YouTube where they demonstrate this.

        • K guess I'm just used to higher quality chargers that don't do this , which do exist but are probably more costly.

I think in the instances I tried even connecting one low power device when the only other charging device was also low power still reset the charging process and that I found a bit unusual

          • @Kharn83: To clarify all connected devices indicate the power source has been disconnected for 1-2 seconds then state a power source has newly been connected

  • +3

Been eyeing this one, might be a better option with Gan III

    https://www.amazon.com.au/LENCENT-Charger-Adapter-Charging-C…

    • +1

Describe exactly what GaN III is.

      • +2

I'm guessing its the 3rd generation of GAN tech

        • +1

What's the benefit over 2nd or 1st gen GaN?

    • This does look good!

  • wait are you against, or for gan? wtf

    Any deals on fire extinguishers?

  • +2

This has RCM mark and a listed record on ERAC (model HMX-GAN3-A):
    https://equipment.erac.gov.au/Public/Profiles.aspx?Applicati…
    Helpful discussion of RCM:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/z1p7op/psa_if_an…

It should be safe if complies to ERAC, not sure about electrical efficiency or resistance though - other marks like TUV, ETL, UL could vouch for more specialized testings.

  • Hit and Miss, but Amazon does well with returns.
Bought it again, after it broke, when i dropped it.

  • Mixed opinion on this charger. Took it overseas to the USA and it just flat out didn't work with any of my devices. I use it as a daily driver here for my laptop and phone and haven't had an issue. It seems to freak out though if you have 3 devices plugged in at the same time (laptop, phone, and watch) and will power cycle through them one after another repeatedly. Got a free replacement and the second unit has the same issues.

    • +1

The power cycling you described, I bought the cheapest off brand usb A charger off Amazon and observed the same thing. When I plugged 2 devices at once, it cycled the power (ipad charging, iphone stops charging —> ipad stops charging, iphone starts charging).

I actualy bought a 3 pack of them and all of them did this power cycling bs, very sketchy

      • +1

Power cycling once per new connection is normal. The charger needs to lower the power on the active port to stay within the total power rating and that required reinitialising the connection on the first port.

Repeated power cycling is not normal.

        • Yes, agreed (it was continually cycling power, sometimes for a while it would stop charging one device)

  • I have the white heymix 65w travel gan and I must say I have had zero issues at all and it's been a year now

  • Thanks OP, have the Kmart 30W PD charger but will upgrade to this.

Already have the HEYMIX 65W powerboard, been using it a year without any issues.

    • -1

May want to grab a powerpoint tester based on those comment

      • I'm good. Got a rattly one and they replaced it with a solid one and no issues since. Doesn't mean it won't blow up or a phone battery will swell or whatever other crappy occurrence.

  • +1

I've had 2x Heymix GaN chargers for quite some time now, have not burnt down my workplace yet.

Both, however, got defects after a while. The USB-C only works one way now.

  • umart sell "simplecom" brand charger. same shape , same factory. better to buy from umart so local shop warranty for failures. amazon won't support this after a few months.
