i think mornington is also available.
Good price, but more memory that anyone will ever need.
Paraphrasing Bill Gates (apocryphal) - "No-one will ever need more than 64GB".
You know that's storage right? Not RAM?
You know it doesn't contain a disk right?
Is RAM not storage in your thinking? It has an internal flash (SSD) and 4GB of RAM …

@athk: Thank you; I was unaware (ignorant) of that :-(
Damn just got the 64gb for $188
To eBay,
make it cheaper then I will buy one.
Just an FYI. The 64GB models are wifi only, no ethernet ports.
They are exclusive to the 128GB model now.I have no use for 128GB storage however I prefer physical networking where I can so it’s 128GB for me.
Also read the 64GB one doesn’t support thread, which may be important for people using it as a HomeKit hub.
This is the first I am hearing about it. I was actually looking to use it as a Home Kit hub since Apple has discontinued hub support on ipads
I believe you can use the wifi models as a HomeKit hub.
From memory, the 64GB wifi model will act as a homekit hub, supports matter but not thread.
Please someone correct me if I am wrong.IMHO, if your planning to use it as a homekit hub, use Ethernet where possible.

See the top two models listed there, where only the 128GB has thread. You can still use the other model as a HomeHub, hell I use my non-4K model from 2015 or so, but it may impact the support for some devices.
Thanks so much, nearly bit on 64gb and you saved me ….. why apple why. Thread is touted as the standard along with matter but my god the level of support and connection stability leave a lot to be desired
If you want the 64GB try refurbished from Apple.

Good guys have 95% feedback - that is terrible
Do you have to pay sub fee on Apple TV? Does it give you more stuffs than Netflix?
If you’re referring to Apple TV+, yes.
It’s a subscription streaming service just like all the others. Not as much content on ATV+ but some high quality stuff. Heaps of free trials going around.
So essentially its a TV box but with better spec and 4k capability (similar to Android TV box). You can install all streaming app on it plus you can subscribe to Apple TV+ right? If they provide good amount of free channels then it might be good to get one.
Yep essentially the same as android tv box like a shield pro in terms of function, just with different ecosystem/app store. I went for this over the shield solely for zwift as android tv frustratingly refuses to support it so worth checking your intended apps/services either way
@Beetleeater: I feel the general consensus is that Apple TV 4K is the best streaming box there is.
Regardless if you own an iPhone or not.
It’s got every app you would need (except Kodi).
The box is faster than any other competitor out there, by far.
Simple. Clean UI.If you want a good plug and play device, that’s the way.
If you like to tinker, best to find an Android based device. In my home we have many TVs and to keep things simple and consistent. We never touch the TV branded remote.
We just use the Apple TV remote to turn on/off, volume and app.
That way it’s the same UI whatever room your in.@InLaymansTerms: Completely agree, arrived at the same conclusion when comparing them all but thought I'd specifically mention zwift as that was a huge negative for me.
PS5 has proved a great media box for my main tv (bar kayo but kayo is rubbish on everything I've seen) so haven't felt the need to change that one, playing cod with my boys is a great bonus there too and keen to try a psvr2 when I find a deal, maybe black friday time
@Beetleeater: Consoles aren’t a bad choice if you already have one, definitely agree.
I’ve tried using a ps5 and xsx for content consumption/streaming.
I found a few negatives.
They all use a lot more power/energy
The UI isnt well optimised for streaming services
If you don’t want to use the controller you need to purchase a separate remote.
I like to hop around between content and apps.
Apple TV can multitask several apps at once, even holding the video in place as you switch between services.
I find with consoles, they don’t seem to multitask streaming services.I guess that’s the same for most smart TVs.
If you’re happy to live in one app like Netflix for example, it’s fine.If you want a premium box that does it all very well. Can’t go past the ATV.
@InLaymansTerms: Netflix doesn't seem to like it though, keep seeing complaints on the AppleTV subreddit that the Netflix app is dated and crap.
@TheContact: We have 4x ATV's of varying age and never had an issue with Netflix which us used 60% of the time
@Gebb: This is in comparison to what's available on other platforms.
is this good for someone that just wants to share his screen. Usually i just watch movies on other websites and want to know if I can just share my iphone screen to the tv
Will this play x265 easily? Which apps to do people use (I am not that keen on Plex) - I have used RPi with Kodi but can't play 4k well or x265
Plays everything easily. Heaps of horsepower.
You can’t install Kodi on it, VLC works fine.better to get a nvidia shield if you want to 4k + x265
since you can install Kodi etc.we use Infuse by FireCore and it plays x265 4k content without issue
thank you
all my content is on a Synology 4 drive nas
the Synology Plex server to LG TV Plex local is very slow and whilst it works the delay is a terrible UX
hence the look at alternatives. rpi 3 + kodi very good at 720p and 1080p. but yeah falling behind quick now on 4k and or x265
the network to the TV is wired but even wifi has plenty of b/width on ax6000 Asus router
RRP $249 for anyone wondering.
Thomastown are the only C&C location in VIC.
