These are great for the kid's school lunches

Got one of these with an Inkbird Sous Vide device. It's bloody awesome. Makes a great seal for my Sous Vide and for freezing meat and fish etc.

    • I second this. Got the combo for the sous vide but I use the vac sealer all the time and rate it highly.

      • How much do you guys spend on vac bags? Can I use normal sandwich bags?

I usually sous vide by putting the food into a sandwich bag, put the bag in water, and zip lock it. But I think it'd be great to vac bag things to freeze so it doesn't get freezer burn.

        • I but my vac bags on aliexpress, and in the past Aldi had them marked down but not recently.

I bought this unit at the deals around Christmas and then bought 6x6m roll pack from Kogan (good price/free ship at the time).

there's plenty of recommendations for bags/rolls in past deal threads - Here's one:

        • I bought a bulk amount of pre cut bags that are sealed on one end already. From memory i got them on amazon but couldnt tell you the price. I have a roll that came woth the machine that ive only used once. Would reccomend the pre cut ones for convenience.

          • @Cheepcheep88: Agree, the pre cut ones are so much better. Though with this machine, it's really no issue as it seals the ends brilliantly. Just a tiny bit more effort. I used an unsealed roll at Christmas to do some chicken breasts in a charcoal chicken seasoning, and it worked perfectly. Just got to make sure your temp is warmed up to make a water tight seal. I believe it's about 20 bucks for a roll on Amazon. They used to have them at Kmart but not anymore.

Good deal, but I'll wait until the combo with the sous vide comes back. SV is about $80 separately, the bundle is $99 combined.

  • Thanks, Op.

  • Do these work well with liquids?

    • +1

      No

    • +2

You need a chamber-style vacuum sealer to do liquids.

    • Small amounts of liquids only. I use this exact model for Sous Vide cooking, and often include minced garlic and wine in it. I wouldn't though, say, seal a whole bag of milk.

  • Won't let me stack codes on eBay even though it suggests it on the product page.

    • hi , did you use the code for another item? each ebayid can use it for one time. so change an account may work

  • +1

Thanks OP this deal sucks well!

  • Bit confused with the bags to get with this. Can you buy them in Aldi/Coles/Woolies? The ones recommended above looks like for another device where you place the roll inside the machine for sealing. Also how do you reopen an already sealed bag? Do you have to reseal it through the machine again.

    • +3

Need to reseal with the machine, it melts the plastic closed to have a air tight seal.

The bags as the same textured ones most domestic vac sealers use. I buy the bags from aldi marked down or as an ebay deal but they can be bought from some hardware and appliance stores for $$$. Any of the textured ones work, brand doesn't matter. You can't use plain sandwich or freezer bags.

You open a sealed bag the same way you would any other, like the vac sealed meat/roasts from the supermarket; cut it with sizzors or a knife. I like to cut neatly just below the seal so I can reseal the bag.

      • I will have a look at Aldi for the bags to try it out. Thanks for your help.

  • If you're getting one of these specifically for a sous vide, don't bother because zip lock bags work just as well and are way less effort.

    • How do you vacuum with ziplock bag?

      • +6

Submerge the bag slowly into the water until the seal line is submerged but the top of the bag isn't. Massage the bag to help air escape. Seal the zip.

It's pretty effective, but not as good as a vacuum sealer

  • I purchased one from Amazon and have been using it for ~8 months now. YMMV, but the vacuum function wasn't working when I tried it three days ago.

    • +1

hello, please contact the seller, they will solve it for you thanks

      • I just bought this earlier and now I am seeing a few reviewers said that it doesn't last long and broken down.
How do we get support for warranty if we buy from ebay?

        • +2

          contact ebay seller or INKBIRD.com.
It have one year Warranty , we will give you a new one instead of fix it .

          • @Inkbird: Is there any performance difference between VS01, VS02 and VS03?

            • @antik: check the description in the link please
there a picture shows all the function with different model.

  • Mine received today. What canisters can people recommend to use with the hose?
