would this pull apart an ipad pro 2nd gen? been wanting to replace the battery for ages to recover photos, it says iphone ? then tablet? but am not sure
From personal experience, I’d wager that even if it couldn’t, this kit would make a much better fist of it than either a rubber chicken or a packet of Mint Slice.
a much better fist of it
Plz don't fist your ipad, it disturbs the electrons
You sure to replace the battery for your iPad Pro yourself?
It's not like replacing an iPhone battery in which you just pull that screen (and there is a supporting frame) up, you need to pry open the glass glued very firmly to the body of an iPad.
You cannot even rely on a heat gun given how large the screen is, definitely, you will need a large heating mat which is a professional tool.
Even if you have the best set of professional tools, it is still very possible that u broke the screen glass given this is a REAL technical work that takes time to master. Also, the mini led screen is very, very expensive to replace.
Yes, this tool set covers all possible bits of screws for the iPad Pro, but it is FAR not enough for taking apart an iPad.thanks for the information i may have to watch some videos about the supporting frame and how they pry it up.
i have previously replaced multiple iPhone 5s and 6s back in the day, never attempted an iPad, i do not use the ipad haven't in a few years it stopped working due to battery so i replaced the device, i am mainly just wanting to power it on to recover my photos in camera roll, the screen also is already has a crack . as for iPad if i break it i wouldn't be that mad but i just don't feel like paying someone $300 to do it when i can buy a kit and battery for less then $100
i got a makita head gun and will have this kit, i think i will still give it shot if I screw it up i guess its my own fault once thephotos are recovered i do not care what happens to the ipad will not be usedI think the Apple store charges $130 to replace an iPad battery.
@Cheap Rich Guy: Really? will look into this
Link shows $21.99?
It says the heads are magnetic. I've always been wary of cheaper brands; do these hold screws on the tip well?
Magnetic does work and does hold screws. It's actually the screw driver base part that's magnetic. Those tips permit the magnetic feature to operate but the tips themselves cannot hold screws without the base screw driver. There is also a small magnetizer / demagnetizer included.
I have 2 of these. One I bought from local retailer (seems slightly better quality) and one from Temu (~$7). I have used the set from Temu for a DIY PC assembly recently.
Any pink ones? specially Barbie edition?
I have this set and it's utter rubbish. Better off spending more and getting a set that will last and will be of much better quality.
Any recommendations?
I got this as a replacement. Granted it's more than 3x the price, but it is absolutely worth it if you're planning to use it more than once. These crappy $12 set bits were stripped halfway through repairing my Dyson stick vacuum. The Xiaomi one is still going strong 3 years later.
Thanks for that. I agree that the right tools to last you years are worth it.
I agree. I have a set and the bits are rubbish quality.
Yeah I wasn't going to say anything because people seemed happy enough but dirt cheap bits are soft trash. Even good ones disappoint me half the time.
The blue plastic pry tools are really consumable items. The business end gets chewed up pretty quickly.
I guess they need to be just hard enough to do the job but soft enough to do no damage.Yeah I was referring to drill bits. Agree you cant expect much from the pry tools, but even then plastics aint plastics.
I thought these are mostly for light duty work or fixing things with weird screws. It is interesting the recommended set is also made in China.
Three years ago, I was at a store which sells screw drivers and other tools. I asked the shop owner which ones are the best. He told me made in Germany ones. He did tell me how much (cannot remember what he said, but I remember too expensive so I bought a cheap set - made in China).
The AliExpress $7 deal is still the GOAT
Those silver coloured bit are usually pretty second rate.
Thanks!
