    Flat cable

    Twisted pairs

    Pick one

Also CAT7 isn't rated for 1000MHz, it's rated up to 600MHz. So either this is lying (likely) or it's actually CAT7a (unlikely).

but it's "intelligent shielding" = smarter than us and we don't have to choose

      • +1

Very likely shielded cat6a; but thats still fine for the price.

This is almost certainly NOT CAT 7 cable.

Cat 7 requires each pair to be shielded, and there isn't enough space inside a flat ethernet cable to allow for this.

Add this to the dubious seller name, and this is going to be 100% generic crap cable from some random factory that gets all sorts of other brand names and made up specs attached to it. Seriously, look at the fly-by-night seller, they are also selling this.

Please do NOT post dodgy ethernet cable 'deals' from Amazon- they are invariably untrustworthy. Decent ethernet cable is cheap enough as it is, no need to obsess about deals that are for garbage.

    • Isn't 90% of stuff on Amazon from random fly-by-night non-sellers?

I don't disagree with you, but that seems like Amazon lol

Yeah, Amazon AU is terrible, far worse than the US site. But Amazon ethernet cable is particularly terrible.

People just should just avoid Amazon for Ethernet cable altogether, unless they don't care about what they are getting (most the time it's fine, but it would be laughable to use this in walls, not would I want to put power through it)

If you never own one before how can you tell they are dodgy?

I have similar one around the same length from one end of the house to the other end, I have no problem.

Also no problem from last deal, too many people here comment bad garbage product but they never own or use.

It may not CAT7 but they are not dodgy as you said.

@superforever: It's dodgy because the seller is flat out lying about the spec.

Same way as the guy Nigerian Prince who contacts you regarding an inherence is dodgy.

It's probably fine as Cat 5e/6, but it is not Cat 7. It'll work fine most the time, for most people, for most simple home situations. But they are still lying about what the product is.

Also, if you own one, there is no guarantee that it's the same as what someone buys next week. These Amazon sellers just take random cable from whatever the cheapest supplier they can find at the time is.

This is not anything comparable to a proper brand like Commscope or Belden that sources from a known factory and runs regular QC checks.

This is almost certainly NOT CAT 7 cable.

It has RJ45 connectors on it so it isn't CAT 7…

To be CAT 7 it needs to have GG45 or Terra.

      • +1

Yeah, I wasn't even going to bring that up, there's enough wrong with the listing already :)

I'm surprised it's not being sold as Cat 8 or Cat 9.
