Do you need to be a member ?

and how does the licensing work ? Can I install the game on both my desktop and laptop ?

    • +2

I hate it when Reps log out 1 minute after they post…

      They lost a sale !!!

      • Hi Jv,

Sorry:( I had to get the kids off to bed and could only wait around for 15 mins:(

I'm not sure if something went wrong when you clicked the link and added it to your cart. Both questions should have been addresses by the website itself…

        1. No, you don't need to be a member. Just click the purple 'Buy Now' button at the top of the page and it'll add it to your cart then you can checkout. However, you are free to sign up later if you want to be notified of special offers in the future:)

        2. When you add it to your cart, the description of the license in the shopping cart is 'Instant Download Home (Single Computer)'. So no, you should not really install the same software on both your laptop and desktop ('cos that would be a 'two computer' licence).

Having said that, we'd much rather have the software out there in the hands of kids who need it instead of sitting on our proverbial 'shelf'.

So honestly, if you can only afford one copy then go ahead and install it on little Joey's netbook and Sally's desktop:) Just please don't go sharing it with Tim down the street;) trust me…I know his parents… they can afford the 10 bucks to buy it for him themselves;)

Again, I'm sorry I wasn't able to stick around long after the deal, but I hope this answers your questions:)

Let me know if you change your mind about the sale!

        Cheers,

        Jason

P.s. there's a prize for the first person to point out all the spelling mistakes in this iPhone-autocorrected post @Flippant ;)

        • Just please don't go sharing it with Tim down the street;) trust me…I know his parents… they can afford the 10 bucks to buy it for him themselves;)

          Hahaha! =)

P.s. there's a prize for the first person to point out all the spelling mistakes in this iPhone-autocorrected post @Flippant ;)

LoL! G'day, Jase.. soon as I saw your name as the OP I went into proofread mode. I'll still beat the autocorrect.. a (correctly spelt) misused word still counts! ~does that hand gesture where she points two fingers at her eyes, and then at Jason~ Watchin’ you, maaaate. ;D

        • *looks warily over his shoulder

Hehehehe:) Thanks, I knew I could count on you!

        • Do I get the prize?

"Both questions should have been addresses by the website itself…"

"…the description of the license in the shopping cart…"

Can I make a request for the next sale to be a reading/spelling game instead of maths? I got the free Maths Invaders game last time, a reading/spelling game at that $10 price point would be awesome :D

      Have a look at http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Sof…. Theres a $10 spelling and a $10 grammar game.

        That's an excellent find happychild:)

It's great value if you don't mind using the old version. Officeworks, Big W and Harvey Norman etc only have old clearance stock of Version 1.

We released Version 2 a couple of years ago which is what we sell on our website and is also available from most of the others companies found here http://www.google.com.au/search?q=volcanic+panic+v2

Mac users can also get it on the Mac App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/numbers-up!-volcanic-panic-v2…)

There are some significant diferences between Version 1 and Version 2
While the gameplay and activities are mostly the same (just a few minor factual corrections), major changes were made to the user interface, performance, compatibility.

There's more info at http://www.edalive.com/general/v2-upgrade-features (it's aimed at school users - but everything except for networking is exactly the same for home users)

PLUS - You can get it instantly via direct download;)

Oh, didn't even notice the different versions. $10 for version 2 is great then. I remember playing this game back in my school days, had great fun playing against my brother :)

        • No worries. It's not exactly spelled out clearly on their website - sometimes even we forget they are still selling it!

And between you and me (and the rest of OzBargain) even I bought an old v1 CD from Hardly Normal when they had it on clearance (before I started at EdAlive) and my mate's kids still loved it! So they can still useful - just watch out for Win 7 and OSX Lion compatibility - there are a few issues with the old v1 titles which have been fixed in the v2 ones.

Sorry rant on after your helpful post:(

    • *request noted :)

We're working our way through the list and Spellforce (yup - this is one I am definitely gonna need!) is coming up pretty soon!

Keep an eye out on OzBargain - or better yet pop over to www.edalive.com/club-signup to get on the list for advanced notice of offers and a bunch of other cool stuff ;)

    $5 on clearance at officeworks.
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Sof…

They also have the maths invaders game on clearance for 20cents!

    • Nice find!

(Wish it was in stock though!)

      • Am i missing something? Both show online stock only for me

        • Ah, it might be state specific stock, I'm in Qld.

      • +1

You don't need to pay 20 cents for the OLD VERSION of Maths Invaders ;)

Get the latest v2 Edition FREE from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/78089

        • +1

Well i wasn't sure if all 10,000 copies had been ozbargained or not. Can't go wrong then!

        • Hehehehe:) We came pretty close! But there's still a bunch left.

If you take a look through the comments you'll notice we did officially get ozbargained there at about mid-morning - thank goodness for cloud computing!

FULL DISCLOSURE: Yes we do ask for your email address. No we won't ever share it with anyone else. And yes we will send you an email or two afterwards;) But hey…it's free!

    • Don't forget to add postage (Officeworks don't offer an instant download) and remember that it's the old version of the software. (Though once again - great find!)

It's instock in NSW but it's $5.95 to ship it.
So that's $10.95 vs $9.95 instant download from EdAlive (Or add $10 for CD version).

Granted, if you really want the old version on CD (e.g. to give it as a gift) then it's cheaper ($10.95 vs $19.95)- but then you've got to consider the old v1 vs new v2 version differences as discussed earlier.

      Thanks for the suggestion though!

(You just gotta love Officeworks bargains! - I picked up a LiveScribe SmartPen from 'em for $88 back when everyone else had it for over $200)
