New HL for this CPU. I'm still waiting on the AfterPay Day deals next week. Even though I think it won't get much better than this. Enjoy!

getting harder and harder to hodl.. maybe i place c&c and cancel if it goes lower next week 🤔 don't think they have a restocking fee.. nevermind, they do

Cancellation of any order that has all items picked and scanned, that has been either partly or fully paid, will result in a minimum 15% deduction from the total order amount to be refunded, this will be waived if Scorptec cannot supply the goods due to our own fault/supplier problems.

'minimum 15%' is very suspect sounding.

15% is a big hit when ordering stuff like that lol. Wasn't the norm around 10%?

      • +1

yeah, it's a pretty huge chunk of change. and of course the staff who do the restocking in question probably see $0 of it.

        • +1

They get paid by the hour. The store owner reaps all the benifits from a 'restock'.

          • -2

@teddiebear: That would be the nasty store owner who paid in advance for a product that a customer reneged on purchasing?

Damn that conniving bastard for not showering their staff with bonuses as a result of losing a sale…

            • +1

@UncleRico: Realistically they wouldn't be losing a sale unless they ran out of stock, they would just be losing the cost of a label and packaging tape.

            • +1

@UncleRico: I'm not bad mouthing the store owner. It's their money, good on em. Imagine if Target, kmart, bigW, HN, Bing lee all charged a restock fee for returning the wrong size or wrong purchase choice. Nobody would shop there if they charged such a high amount for a return. $150 for every $1k?? Pretty bloody steep dude!

              • -2

@teddiebear: You are only thinking about high value item. What about 15% on the items that are $20. 15% on this item is very little. The store owner loses money on the administration. Remember there are people to process, pick and labelling. And account to process the invoice and refund.

The owner just set a standard restocking fees for everything.

                • +1

@Smaster: 15% is still 15%. $1000 worth of product is STILL $150. Might take 40× $25 items to reach $1000 worth, 15% of $25= $3.75. $3.75×40=$150. Doesn't matter if it's big or small items, it still adds up because it's still 15%

                • +1

@Smaster: 15% is approx the margin on a lot of PC retail items. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the average.
By charging a 15% restock fee and keeping the stock unopened/unshipped, they are effectively double dipping. A more reasonable restock fee would be 15% or the shipping & handling fee, whichever is lesser, since it doesn't cost them $300 to restock a cancelled $2k order.

Sometimes I just wish JB hifi started selling computer components haha

I couldn't do it any longer. This is the price I pulled the trigger (which means everyone else is welcome when it ends up $50 cheaper next week haha)

  • Thanks OP, ordered

Computer Alliance only $20 more! Which you could sell for more than that $20 easily!

  • People are saying aferday pay day a lot, really hope there are some good deals!

  • $654 shipped (express) on eBay with eBay Plus (scorptec ebay) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/266336430153

$2 more expensive vs this deal considering delivery cost is ~$13

Cheaper if you have discounted gift cards.

Also, would this still grant you the Starfield Standard code? The CPU is still coming from Scorptec.

Computer Alliance is honouring the promotion from qualifying products purchased on their eBay store:

    • Confirned on my invoice, it says
      1 X 104765 - Merchandise - Giveaway Stock - AMD - CPUQ323-STARFIELD-CODE
AMD Ryzen CPU Q323 Game Code - Starfield (Standard / Premium Edition)

This will be for standard edition as per AMD promo.

      • Neat! I had bought the CPU like 2 hours prior to commenting from ebay, was just making sure I would get the game too xD

        • Just go clarify, I bought from scorptec, not the computer Alliance eBay deal, but from the thread you posted, computer alliance are giving codes to eBay sales until they run out of codes.

          • @NoApostrophePlurals: Yeah, I also bought from scorptec, was posting another retailer's eBay store as reference. I'll see what the invoice shows when I get it.

No price movement on the step down AM5 chips yet… hopefully the drops trickle through to 7700, 7600 …..

  • Is it common to charge 1% surcharge for debit/credit card orders? My recent order from JW didn't have it.

  • Guess who ordered one yesterday. Yet to pick it up…will they refund me the difference?
