Similar to the Cashrewards deal a few days ago. Just in time since my last 2 year subscription ends at the end of the month which I also got a 90% cashback for.

Same Shopback account, different email address or in this case, Gmail alias.
Is cashback calculated on the total with or without tax?
98% on total ex. GST
GST excl. From memory you can set a non tax region to help avoid this
To avoid GST, select non-GST countries such as US. I used post code/zip code ‘90210’.
You get confirmation instantly from Cashrewards. I am not sure such a feature is available with Shopback.
That is why I like cashrewards.
Nope, definitely not with Shopback. And given that this is an upsized cashback promotion, be prepared to chase Shopback to the ends of the earth in order to get them to honour it.
Yep. Close to zero chance of shopback successfully tracking this and giving you the money
I got an email saying it's been tracked within an hour of payment. YMMV
Always best to get in contact with tightarse and get this promo through Cashrewards. Guaranteed to track and guaranteed to track without wasting time chasing them up.
@KangaDrew: @tightarse CR gonna run 98% , or maybe 99/100%? ;)
@bohn: A cashback beat on CR would be interesting - following this thread for this.
Tracked and successfully verified/cashbacked or two very different things. Almost all my ShopBack attempts sit in pending limbo then declined. I’ve stopped using it. Personally not worth it.
@SlappersOnly: Same. Deleted my shopback account. Not worth the hassle
@SlappersOnly: Exact same issue with me. They're quite happy to payout standard/low level claims, but as soon as you send in an upsized cashback or a combined upsized + Westpac claim, the ba$tards will screw you around and drag it out forever. They hope you eventually give up or forget to make a claim, and if you do claim, they expect a tonne of evidence to support it.
Every single one of my standard cashbacks go through, but upsized/bonus cashbacks never do. Then they have the audacity to throw a bunch of reasons why it didn't go through in the hopes that you give up and they can double their commissions.
The ethics of Shopback are disgusting. Money-hungry and unethical capitalism at its finest.
@karu, so you've been with Nord for 2 years and are going to sign up for another 2?
It's been running quite smoothly for me. I didn't see a reason to switch providers considering it's <$20 for 2 years.
Good to hear. I'm about 6 months in to 1 year sub. I don't use it often but when I do it has been good.
I used NordVPN for a long time. Heavy use. Found many many servers simply don't work half the time (no throughput) so forever changing, on multiple devices and internet connections so no common thread, tried all the protocols and changes their support suggested, then they told me I'm welcome to leave if I'm not happy. Relatively happy ProtonVPN customer now. Better to pay for something that actually works. Besides, my last attempt at a NordVPN connection was rejected by whichever cash back provider it was so I paid full price for 2 years (thanks to others for reminding me of this cuz at 2% cost I was prepared to give them another go, but best not).
Notes
- Cashback is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, & any amount paid for with Gift Cards.
- Cashback is only valid for New NordVPN Subscriptions
- Those who have used NordVPN under a free trial are considered existing NordVPN customers
- Due to currency fluctuations, discrepancies may apply to the cashback amount you receive. Please note that the purchase amount ShopBack receives is not what your bank charges you, but what NordVPN reports back to us in AUD.
Terms & Conditions
ShopBack must be the last link you clicked in order to get Cashback. If other website links are clicked after clicking through ShopBack, Cashback will not be tracked (E.g. coupon websites and deal websites)
Return to ShopBack and clickthrough to NordVPN every time you are making a new transaction
Accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the Cashback system will be banned and Cashback forfeited
Cashback is only available to new NordVPN customersThanks my nord also expires soon
You’ve got to wonder why a company like this is willing to make a loss on acquiring new customers- and what they’re doing with your data to make themselves profitable
I don't think NordVPN is making a loss. I imagine they're hoping to lock you in for future subs.
Nord also has a history of valuing user's privacy. They operate in Panama, shutdown their Indian servers in response to a Government push to retain data and joined the VPN Trust Initiative.
Probably same as how telco's only offer deals for new customers. They bank on the majority not making the effort to look for better deals or forgetting the renewal date.
I assume they make there money based on addon subscriptions - darknet monitoring etc.
They do say that pwc 'independently audits' to make sure there are no logs … however based on recent events not sure how much i trust them.it does work when I was in China last month.
guys, total noob here when it comes to cashrewards/shopback - how does it work and what's the catch ? (I've never used it and not sure why would someone return/give money)
thanks in advance
Don't bother with shopback mate. They won't track your CB and you won't get it paid out
is it activated instantly i.e date of purchase?
mine expiring in decemeber hoping to extend itBought a 2 year plan in July 2021 but my plan is expiring in December , odd. Only time I've ever used it was to subscribe to Turkish Netflix 2 months ago though lol
I think sometimes they’ve had promotions where you get an extra 3 or 4 months or whatever on top of the plan, which maybe explains the December end date.
haha my heart dropped when i saw it was July 31 and was like did i get charged?! but i turned off auto renew anyway. Standard plan for $4 seems pretty good though
30 day money back from Nord in the case they don't track your payment.
Worth the risk I guessIs this any use for streaming nowadays? Used a VPN briefly in the past and didn't find US Netflix or Disney to have that much extra/different content to be worth the trouble.
sometimes it's good for UK tv shows which aren't available here yet.
Britbox is often very slow to add shows anyway.
tracked within 20 minutes, hopefully approval fully works
Hi topnpu, Can I pls check which plan you have taken and how much amount got tracked? I can see standard plan (2 year +3 extra months) is for $102.33+$10.23 GST = $112.56. Thanks mate
Paid ~129 aud on 2 years plan, ~127 tracked in less than 1 hour.
Is this cashback only for standard subscriptions?
$231 is pending in my account for the complete bundle. However, only $127 had been tracked.
CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL
Cashback is only for NordVPN (Excludes NordPass and any premium services)
For me - I paid $142.12 for 2 years +3 months, and had $126.70 cashback.
Maybe I missed a deal or code or whatever - but close enough.
That looks to me as though you paid in AUD so the discount is 98% of the pre-GST amount. Looks about right and $127 is what others have reported.
In the future if you use a location outside Australia you can avoid the 10% GST.
cheers op just purchased 2 years for $129, hopefully tracked soon. My previous experiences with shopback have been bad i had to track them down to get the cashback, fingers crossed
EDIT : tracked in 1hour - funds to be released by end of OCTOBER 💀💀💀
Hmm - mine was showing 102 something plus GST to pay, fine print said it would charge in AUD, but I think that 102 was USD.
Ended up being 152 or 153, but the 98% tracked, and thats the important part.I wonder what happens if it doesn't track?
You just accept you're $150+GST out of pocket to have NordVPN?
You can cancel within the 30 days for a refund, which is plenty of time to know if it tracked, but before the payout would occur.
Did this finish yesterday?
My SB cashback didn't track with this purchase. Had to manually submit a request to have it investigated which will be done in 30 days…. Hmm, if it fails to track, I'll need to cancel my NordVPN subscription before this but I won't know in time.
Can use the same shopback account even if i signed up to it with a different email years ago?
