  • What CPU and case are you using?

  • Budget?

    • no idea, but something affordable

Your CPU fan is fine from the pictures. You have no intake or exhaust fans on the case and that's what is causing the high temperatures. You need to figure out if you need 120 or 140mm fans on the front and back will be a 120mm fan. Make sure you set them up the correct way so that air is flowing through the case and your temps will drop.

    • any recommendations?

      • Okay I would recommend 2 Be Quiet! Pure Wings 2 140mm PWM fans for the front and any Be Quiet 120mm fan for the exhaust at the back.

I wouldn't bother, for the price of those fans you can just outright get a better airflow case that also comes with passable fans. Those ancient cases just don't have good airflow in the first place, and they're not really designed for the level of heat that PC generates nowadays.

        • ok
but that's not gonna fit at the front
          just on the back
          hmm
          ???

Your case has no fans, its mostly relying on passive airflow and whatever hot air the PSU manages to exhaust, that's why your temps are shit. The case is ancient, PSU stopped being mounted on top years ago because PC got significantly hotter and its no longer feasible to be relying on the PSU to be the one moving airs in and out of the case.

Is that a microATX or ATX motherboard?

    • Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK AM4 ATX.

Good catch. I thought it looked familiar, but there wasn't a shot of the bottom to see whether the board extends past the GPU.

There's also a cheap $39 case here if you were interested in grabbing a newer case with better airflow and cable management features

Though I would recommend getting something a little better that's airflow focused. The Fractal Design Meshify is one of the better airflow focused cases

    • Solid front, if you're already spending money I'd rather get something actually good rather than another hotbox. There are decent airflow case for not much more, and comes with more fans which makes up the price difference anyway

  • So new case and two fans ,front and back?

Some cases already have fans installed, if you're buying one of the cases that were suggested by tatsulotto you probably don't need to buy anymore.

Just be aware modern cases don't have 5.25 inch bays since DVD optical drives have gone out of fashion. You won't be able to mount one in these types of cases

    • The only problem is most cheap cases don't have 5.25" front bays. Do you use the DVD burner and card reader?

More like most cases, its only cheap cases where they still have stocks from 5-10 years ago that still has a 5.25 bays. Plus the Fractal Pop Air.

What's the best combo(new graphic card) to my cpu , currently gtx 1650, not overkill , cos of cpu throttling ?

      A 6700XT perhaps? https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-dual-radeon-rx-6700-xt-12g…

It comes with a free copy of Starfield, just remember to ask the seller to provide you with the starfield redemption code after buying.

Another thing to check is your RAM speed. A step that many people miss is remembering to activating the DOCP or XMP profile in their BIOS after building their PC

      • another thing
does my psu 500 , can handle this?

        • +1

I wouldn't use the generic PSU with a new GPU.

        • +1

Technically - Yes. Should you - NO.

i got this budget cpu cooler ID-Cooling 224

    https://www.ple.com.au/Products/650284/id-cooling-sweden-ser…

its won many awards for bang for buck

i have the same cpu as yours, idleing 25-30 degrees, bench test max temp around 68 degrees (gaming 50 degrees)

i did add another fan for push pull though

  • What are your temperatures when the side panel is off? Might be that the cooler is mounted incorrectly which is contributing to the problem.

Otherwise, to conclude the various opinions in the thread, your 2 options are:
    A. 2 x PWM 120mm fans (front, back): $20-$30
    B. New case (comes with 1 PWM fan, hopefully more): $60-90

If you are looking at new case with 5.25" ODD, personally I think the Cooler Master Elite 500 ODD for $90 looks good, even though only 1 fan.

If you don't need 5.25" then your options are a lot better, Deepcool CC560 ATX Mid Tower Case for $80 comes with 4 x 120mm fans installed plus tempered glass side!

if OP has the stock cooler, those temps sounds normal.

It is recommended to get aftermarket cpu cooler

      • The stock cooler is more than sufficient for a 5600X, especially with no overclocking or PBO. Its a 65w part, and the Wraith Stealth is passable, if loud because its a 92mm fan. His case has 0 airflow and even passive airflow is challenged by all the cables and being blocked by the drive cage
