  • The price makes me want to buy. But I don't like motorbikes. First world problem

But I don't like motorbikes. First world problem

More like small balls problem 🤣

      • +1

Dunno. Big enough to take a while for your wife to clean it off her face ;) I think you went out for a joyride at the time. Me too, I guess.

  • +5

Also available on the Woolworths Everyday Market and can stack with the 4000 Everyday / WW Rewards Points with $100 Spend on first shop if you have the targeted Rewards offer. Check your EDR account and boost if eligible.

    • Unavailable via this way ☹️

    • very good tip, thanks.

  • This has been constantly on sale. I really like the look and somehow have resisted buying. I guess stacking with 5% gift card discount and 10% Everyday Extras discount may actually be enough to compel me

    • Were you able to apply 10% Extra ? They changed T&C now only usable in-store.

  • Thanks OP.
Tip: don't buy more than 7.

    • -1

      Lol thanks bought 70

  • OMG it's $300+ set!!!!

  • +1

I had $90 in Everyday Rewards credit. Cost me $69.50! Can't wait to build it.

  • Thank you. Wasn't a must have for me but at a heavy discount it should be a fun build.

  • God my wife is going to kill me, but there's just been too many Lego bargains lately. Ordered two, with the plan to build one and keep the other one to sell in a couple of years' time to hopefully recoup some of the expenses.

  • +1

Got this from the $129 deal a while back, but still an outstanding price for what you get!

    • that was a really good price

  • Not the all time low, still a good price, but that ebay bigw one last year at $130 was a steal.

  • Seeing this set in person it looks amazing!

  • +3

As a general rule, I use the rate of 10c per block as a marker of great value of a lego set.
eg this set is 1920 pieces so @ 10c/piece you get a value of $192. So at $160 it's great value, at $320 not so much.

This is not a hard and fast rule. Some sets have more demand/rarity/collectable etc and technic sets tend be higher value, but I find 10c/piece as a useful general rule, so in this case it's a steal.

    • I don't collect lego, but is this in terms of resale value in say 2 years when the set is discontinued? Or even today once the sale has finished?

How does an opened box affect resale value? is it only worth half price?

      • +1

I don't collect lego, but is this in terms of resale value in say 2 years when the set is discontinued?

I buy lego to use so don't resell. I use the value to help decide which set I'll buy next, eg if a set like this comes up at well under 10c/piece and I like it I'll buy it.

I've still got my space lego sets from when I was a kid, now classics. They are worth a fair bit more if they were sealed boxes with instructions etc, but I get more value from using them.

      • -1

I think there is always a demand for this as long as BMW is selling this motocycle

    • +1

10c is a bit low nowadays in most circumstances. 13c, minus a couple cents for basic sets or city/friends, plus a few cents for things with pneumatics, large number of set specific parts or expensive licensing

  • +2

Lego creator house is half price too

  • Thank OP, got one

  • Fitting purchase. Actually just picked up my first bike this week too. Cheers OP

    • and was it BMW too?

      • I've ordered a new BMW motorcycle about 12 weeks ago. Get to pick it up end of next week. So the timing for me was impeccable. One on the shelf and one in the garage.

        • that's a dream!

      • It was a yammy. 1000RR not quite yet on the list yet.

        • -1

          sweeeet!

    • what motorbike did you pick up?

  • Not available for delivery to Melbourne for me

  • OOS

  • Appears to be out of stock

  • +1

uhmmed and uhhed about it, now OOS…🥲

  • For sure everyone's used up their Gift Cards buying these truly High Yield investments!

  • +1

All OOS here and Woolworths.. Who's buying these, scalpers? As a motorcycle rider, the population ain't all riding motorcycles but they'll buy model motorcycles.. So annoying lol

    • +3

      I don't fly a plane or pilot a gundam, but I buy those too…

      • -5

They are a bit different, you can't just easily fly or pilot one.. Motorcycle is very attainable.. People who think they are cool but won't ride one because they are pu$$ies! Being into motorcycles and not riding or being able to ride one is weird to me. Obviously this is directed at Adults buying these for themselves not kids who obviously can't ride one lol

        • +1

but won't ride one because they are pu$$ies!

          Lol, are you serious?

Everyone who rides has come off at least once in their lives without exception. The probability of serious injury only increases with time.
Whereas you can easily meet lifelong drivers that haven't had a single serious accident other than a minor carpark fender-bender, especially nowadays with the increasing amounts of driver aids/safety features in cars.

The rate of motorcycle accidents involving death is 30 times higher than cars per the same distance travelled and the rate of motorcycle accidents causing serious injury is 41% higher. 80% of all motorcycle accidents involve injuries/death. They're not called "donor cycles" for no reason.

And even if you have inhuman hyperawareness with the reflexes of Valentino Rossi you can be sure some absolute f**kclump of a driver will cut you off/ram you/nearly kill you because of their lack of situational awareness and distracted driving habits. These days with the amount of ridiculous 4WDs, SUVs, full-sized pick-ups and larger vehicles on the road, your chances of coming off well in any accident are lower than ever. Throw in the diminishing rates of driver competence across the board and the end result is that motorcyclists are even more screwed in accidents than they were before.

That's to say nothing of the fact that in some states in Australia, statistics suggest motorcyclists themselves are at fault in 50% of accidents they're involved in, especially when no other vehicles are involved. The mean time required to achieve proficiency on most categories of bikes is much, MUCH higher compared to most categories of cars and bikers are woefully unprepared by Australian motorcycle licensing standards.

Hell being a cyclist on a road bike these days commuting on busy arterial roads is dangerous enough with the shocking disregard most road users have for cyclists.

Also, I'd argue if you're driving/riding anything just to look "hard" then that says more about you and overcompensating for insecurities than your passion for that vehicle/subculture in particular.

Obviously this is directed at Adults buying these for themselves not kids who obviously can't ride one lol

It's a goddamned Lego set dude. No gives a sh*t about what hardcore bikers think, they're buying these for display purposes.

          • @Miami Mall Alien: Are you serious, trying to say I ride a motorcycle to look hard? I ride because I commute to work in a busy city and love the feeling of it. Also been riding for 20 years, yes I've had close calls but know plenty of long time riders who have not had accidents because they know how to avoid certain situations. There are idiot riders and there are riders who know how to ride as safe as can be and be alert. Judging by your opinions on motorcycles I can 100% tell you don't ride, trying to talk on something you clearly have no experience or education about. You don't get to have an opinion about what motorcycle riders feel and experience and what it is or isn't.

            • +2

              @Justin9mm:

Are you serious, trying to say I ride a motorcycle to look hard?

Claiming that anyone who has an interest/passion for bikes without riding them is a quote/unquote "p*ssy" is pretty much the same thing.

Your interest in them seems to be based around seeking validation in the eyes of others more than your own deep-seated passion or some other less vain motivation.

By that same logic, if you're a fan of any sports without playing them yourself then you're a massive p*ssy too?

              yes I've had close calls

              Thanks for proving my point.

but know plenty of long time riders who have not had accidents because they know how to avoid certain situations.

Plenty as in 2? 3 people?

Judging by your opinions on motorcycles I can 100% tell you don't ride, trying to talk on something you clearly have no experience or education about. You don't get to have an opinion about what motorcycle riders feel and experience and what it is or isn't.

Lol, do you have a "handle with care" patch on your riding jacket? Because that ego's fragile.
Someone's leather pants must be chaffing something fierce today but at least you're shedding light on why it is that bikers are at-fault in 50% of accidents they're involved in given their stratospheric egos and elitist mentality.

So, the statistics are made up and everyone I know who rides is lying? Sure mate, keep chugging that copium on the well-paved road to overwhelming statistical probability.

I'm just trying to imagine how much of an emotionally unstable, sub-6" foot manlet you need to be to lose your sh*t over the idea that a goddamned Lego motorcycle set might be purchased by people who don't ride them; if this somehow offends your proud status of being a motorcyclist that much then you really need to re-evaluate your priorities in life. You ride a bike, something 2.2 million other Australians do, you're not a special forces Victoria Cross-holder or an Olympic gold medallist, so take a moment to pull your head out of your sorely-inflamed tailpipe.

Ironically, despite you being a "certified hard c**t" you remind me of woke snowflakes who get hysterically outraged when people tell them their identity politics is a just a front for severe mental illness because, "yOu wOuLdN'T uNdERsTaND, yOU'rE nOt MEeEeEEE!!1!".

              • @Miami Mall Alien: Wow.. I think the only person who lost their sh*t is you. Was it worth it? I'm pretty sure your response is a lot worse than my original comments lol. You sound very insecure and not very mature. I just feel sorry for you now. Bye bye.

            • @Justin9mm: Motorcycles are known for one thing. I hope for your sake you don't become a statistic. Hope you have a good rest of your life, stranger.

          • @Miami Mall Alien:

The rate of motorcycle accidents involving death is…

            So (profanity) then… 😁

I'd argue if you're driving/riding anything just to look "hard"

I can't speak for anyone else, but I ride because it's a LOT more fun than driving and I'm not scared off by random statistics.
One lesson worth learning if life is that statistics are mostly used to make you afraid in order to manipulate you in some way. Try doing less of that and you might find life is far more enjoyable.

            • @1st-Amendment:

              So (profanity) then… 😁

Nah, I've just outgrown adolescence but for some men it unfortunately takes 50 years.

but I ride because it's a LOT more fun than driving

Perfectly understandable and a lot better phrased than "iF yOu DoN't rIdE YoUr a F__kiN' p_SsY bRaAAh!1!!".

One lesson worth learning if life is that statistics are mostly used to make you afraid in order to manipulate you in some way.

              No sh*t.

My point was that Justin "Hardcore" 9mm (even his username is overcompensating) is just a raging Napoleon complex who gives motorcyclists a bad name.

              • @Miami Mall Alien: I gave the same reason why I ride a motorcycle as him. I said 'I love the feeling of it' because.. It's Fun. Just quit being a keyboard warrior bro. You sound 5 years old. I'm trying to look hard, I have a complex, I'm certified hard c***, my ego is fragile. Throwing all these insults over a comment you didn't like. I think this has let it affect you a bit too much. Your borderline just hurling abuse, it's pretty comical. Just stop, you're not looking much better than me.

    • Who's buying these, scalpers?

It's that and the fact that BigW's stock levels during popular Lego sales are always a complete shambles (and Woolworths owns BigW, so their stock will be shared).

Orders get cancelled for no reason, items fluctuate wildly between being out of stock/in-stock and the distribution of stock nationally is chaotic at best.

I doubt there was that much stock to begin with as last year's all-time historical low deal from the BigW eBay store sold out in about 20 minutes.

  • +1

Can't believe I missed this to be miserable at work instead. If anybody bought it impulsively and is regretting it, I'd love to take it off their hands.

  • +2

My order was just refunded another selling stock they don’t have.

    • Same

    • Same! Big W is a joke

Yep mine just got cancelled too

    Typical Big W**kers

I’m guessing it was a pricing error as they have it listed on their site now for $319

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/lego-technic-bmw-m-1000-rr-4…

  • +1

Mine was also cancelled, but when I looked it’s still available to order at that price again.

    • $319 for me

    • Same same, mine got cancelled. And frustratingly it's still up for sale for the same price. Oh well, put in another order. At least I'm keeping someone employed cancelling the orders!

      • Ha, I just did the same. Fully expect it to be cancelled but whatever. Disappointing that they've bungled things so bad. If it's a stock issue they've messed up by leaving the product up. If it's a pricing error then that's also pretty ordinary but the price hasn't changed, so..?

  • +1

The reply from bigw: A pricing error was identified on our website where 206597 Lego Technic BMW M1000 was showing incorrectly at a Clearance price of $159.50.
As per our terms and conditions outlined online regarding pricing errors, your order has been cancelled.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    • Thanks for the info.

Gee, wouldn't have killed them to honour the price. Not even the lowest it's been for sale and to top it off it is still "available" at the lower price of you follow the link. 🤦

    • Interesting cause if so the price should have been fixed but it’s back again

  • Lol, classic BigW move.

    1. Announce a massive discount on a popular item that has sold extremely quickly in previous sales.
    2. Barely allocate enough stock for the promotion to last for 10 minutes.
    3. Cancel 50% of the few orders that did go through because you can't track your inventory to save your life.
    4. ???
    5. Profit.
  • I called them up and told them I will happily wait for stock. They told me there is no ETA on stock and as such their policy is to cancel.

  • Just ordered one in hopes my order will slip through? 😅

    • But you're paying full price though?

      • Some postcode is showing different price.

  • Tried to order yesterday. Just received an email from BigW saying it has been cancelled. no luck.

    • And what really annoys me, is that it is STILL available to order online for delivery to my postcode. I tried to sook on their customer disservice chat about them cancelling already two of my orders, but they just had some great excuse of a pricing error. Never mind that it has been already for some four days available online for that price, and still continues to be!

      • They fixed it now.

  • I got the S**ts with this and contacted Big W ablut and got this email back

Thank you for your recent contact with Big W regarding your online order: blah blah blah

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience or discomfort subsequently caused.
