Lots of hype building up around this game. Time will tell if they just stole No Man's Sky concept. $88 is cheapest I have seen so far.

gamespass for GOAT subscription service
yeah it's a day 1 release on gamepass
I'm going to do the $1 for first month deal. Play it for a month for $1 then buy if I like it. Obviously cancel the subscription.
Yes, recently "migrated" to Turkey to obtain cheap 3-year Gamepass subscription. Will be trying out Starfield when it is released, but realistically Bethesda will deliver the game full of bugs, so I will give this game a break until most of the major bugs are fixed. That's my prediction. So the moral of the story is: never pre-order a game until it has been properly reviewed.
2 years of gamepass ultimate for the same price, and you get other games to play while you wait for starfield to be stable:
Dont
Do
It
I have a bad feeling about this game
They did delay it by about 18mo, so that's a good sign. Hopefully they delayed it enough is all
delays aren't really a good sign. cyberpunk had plenty
@Budju: Even a project going well likely won't meet its original schedule. Imagine how bad cp would have been if it launched on time!
Thankfully starfield isn't launching on previous gen hardware (unlike cp) which should make the dev a lot less painful.
@incipient: Baldur's Gate 3 came out early, and look how good that game is. I'm just saying being delayed really shouldn't give you any sense that the game will be good. If anything it just shows that there were problems.
@Budju: Bg3 was in early access for 3 years. The development timeline and approach weren't the same.
@incipient: What's the argument you're making with that statement?
@smartazz104: Ahh that explain why the Settlers delayed 2+years and still came out a turd.
@Budju: Is good
and will still greatly benefit from waiting for the more polished version similar to Divinity: Original Sin 2
Yep, been stung by Battlefield pre-orders for years. after bf2042, never again. Why pay to be a beta tester?
BF2042 is still in beta….
Preorder is another word for interest free unsecured creditor.
What is the original RRP?
$199 probably
$119
I thought you were joking being that high but then saw the price on Steam… PC prices nowadays are crazy.
It's a shame that PC games where pushed up from US$50 / A$80 , to US$60, to US$70 with consoles when it was always US$10 less.
A$119 is US$69 before GST. But for us its an increase of +50%, for a digital product that can bear regional variances in price, the problem is that too many other Australians have paid the extra.
Even on console which has always been more expensive we normally got Bethesda games at JB HiFi / Big W / Harvey Norman with day1 pricing of A$60 - A$80 for physical copies, I think Microsoft's Game Pass is at odds with the Steam price at launch and for everyone who is getting the game at a A$16pm rental, everyone who just wants to buy the game loses out due to Game Pass.
I have Game Pass and after taking an hour to get the PC app to allow me to preload to anything but the C:/ drive, I decided it wasn't worth locking my save & mod support to that app and forked out the A$96 via Amazon for a physical Steam copy. I'll be attempting to get a pricematch for Harvey soon as I paid with gift cards.
Don't pre-order for bethesda games unless you're happy to be a beta tester.
I would suggest buying Baldur's Gate 3, playing that for 6 months while waiting for Starfield to be reasonably stable and on sale.
I feel like you could TRY and put Baldurs Gate 3 down after 6 months, I probably won't haha
Good to try a lite/mainstream playthrough on Baldur's Gate 3 and then resume it after a year.
Better to play the previous Larian game definitive edition now, in a polished state. There are still three-year old bugs in BG3, even considering the hotfix builds they have been recently pushing every couple of days to resolve hundreds of individuals issues, though.
Have you got any examples of the bugs present? I've noticed a significant change since early access release, when I played, and the current build.
Divinity Original Sin 2 is definitely a must play too though I'll agree
@InsertCrow: Many details of the hotfixes referred to are publicly published in bullet point form for those interested. Further information can be gleaned in reports and forums.
Would be interesting to see a readable list for the ~thousand bugs announced in the upcoming "Patch 1"
@UsernameChecksIn: Oh I know where to find the notes for the hotfixes, I was asking about you personally.
As in what years old bugs you had experienced, because I've not come across any.
NMS
I hope it doesnt take literally years after release for this to be a half decent game too :')
Cries in NMS preorder
I remember buying it for $5 a few months after release haha
Just for laughs, here are three animated shorts they made recently for this game:
Kinda strange.
please dont pre order games
Just wait a little and see the reviews first instead of preordering. Given it's Bethesda we'd be better off waiting so that there aren't any critical bugs for a decent gameplay experience at least.
although you might be correct, I don't think this is a valid reason to neg the deal!
-came free with my graphics card, so hoping its as good as the hype seems to be!
Nice one, yeah I'm hoping so too!
Is the ps5 version available for my kids
This game won't be on PS5, at least not at release.
Not even timed exclusive so most likely never gonna leave Microsoft (PC and Xbox)
If you really, really, really must pre-order this at least do it on Steam so you a can refund within two hours when it is inevitably a horrible buggy mess.
NO PREORDERS
Every AAA game is a nightmare at launch.
Cyberpunk was No1 for bad experiences at launch. I bought it and enjoyed it warts and all.
One thing different about Starfield is it delayed the initial release. That's quite brave at the time last year.
I am still expecting the same experience, warts and all but still love the experience.
Buying the games you like is a good thing.
Enjoy the ride. What if they delayed it to add more bugs?
play Skyrim
Star Wars?
pre-order harvey norman, double reason not to
Given the complexity of this game, it's highly likely there will be lots of issues at launch so I'd hold off for at least a few months to see how the launch goes and what needs fixing.
Trial the game on Game Pass first
you can also get starfield for free by redemtpon if you buy some of the Radeon video cards at the moment too
gotta spen money to mek money
Remember, no preorders.
i think this will be an amazing game
I just don't think it will be amazing at launch. So i'll wait until the day 1 tax goes away & user reviews start coming in before i make my decision
Wow, rated R18+? That's going to hurt sales.
Only it may improve sales with possibly adult-only content? ;p
I got a hell of a lot of hours to throw at Baulders Gate 3 before i worry about this
I wonder why Amazon hasn’t price matched this
They keep selling out, I already bought it via gift card and will be attempting to get a pricematch.
Edit: I emailed them a screenshot and they refunded me $7.95.
As mentioned above, we don't honor price difference, but as a one time exception..
The true OZB way is to watch a no-commentary playthrough on YouTube with an adblocker.
I'd be watching with Turkish YouTube Premium Family which costs less than $4pm for 6 ppl.
I think it's going to be on game pass as well - for all those that have it.
