$480.50 for local stock if you have eb+ here, or $492.15 without i believe.

more compelling prices on cpus to come with afterpay 'day' sales next week, hopefully..

Thanks for posting this, I just picked it up with eBay plus trial

Combining this with the 10% off gift card deal isn't too shabby: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/792734

  • +1

Wasn't the 5800x3d around this price prior to AM5 launching?

    • +2

stagnated at this price for almost a year by now

  • +7

This probably needs to drop to $400 or something to be worth it because you can get a 7600 + MSI A620 motherboard for the same price.

    • +2

AM4 is cheaper + DDR4 is cheaper and the A620 is a really low end board.

      • +4

Yeah I have an AM4 SFF ITX build the 5800x3D would be perfect for as a final upgrade. Going to sit on it for some months to probably sub $420 mark though, in no rush. This chip still has merit for those not looking for a full AM5 swap.

I'd love to pounce on this if it did drop to $400 but I'm a little nervous they'll discontinue it before it ever goes that low, or is that an irrational fear I have?

      • +3

Probably irrational, as they won't discontinue it for another couple of years at least and even if they do, you can always find one on the used market as many users will upgrade and sell parts over time.

        • I'd rather pay $400 for a brand new one but yeah second hand isn't bad

          • +4

@MrPariah: CPUs are one part that, if they're not defective from the get go or the pins get bent somehow, they last 10+ years. Probably the only thing I would be comfortable buying second hand.

            • +1

@Aildaris: Oh really good to know, don't feel so rushed to buy one of these then if I can get a second hand one at a steal price maybe 1-2 years from now then, cheers for that!

Agree with this. And the 7600 will be faster in other tasks too.

    • +1

It won't because A. its a strong drop-in option for people with a last gen AM4 system to squeeze in another upgrade without having to fork out another $150-200 for DDR5 RAM, and B. for people that need the X3D CPU for the cache (i.e. MMOs, simulation games, etc…) the 7600 is not really an upgrade. If 7800X3D isn't in the budget, only the 5800X3D is an option.

The 5600X3D Microcenter limited run really is the perfect compromise, but too bad AMD only had enough faulty silicon for one batch of them

      • Yes not everyone's use cases will be the same. I would prefer the 7600 because it's ~25% faster in single threaded apps and sell the old motherboard/RAM to cover the cost of DDR5.

      • You can sell your existing am4 to make up for the ram.

  • If starfield is good I'll buy this cpu.

  • +1

What’s warranty like on this, is it still under Australian consumer law? And does it have the Starfield offer?

  • +1

I did the upgrade to this chip and couldn't be happier. It blasts flight Sims out of the water

  • COMPONENT UTILIZATIONS
While running general tasks, processor AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D will be utilized 100.0% and graphic card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 will be utilized 100.0%

    Using a bottleneck calculator.

  • I may have to pull the trigger on one of these soon, need to replace my 3900X and I've been told my Rog x570-E can now support all the 5000 series.
