I gotta find a way to block these Heymix deals.

    • +3

      It's not a good deal?

    • Sorry Scotty, Oz got the most annoying option configuration unless you use them regularly, not so easy to find things.

My Accounts, Settings, Edit, Blocked, then Add I think.

Edit: Oops that's not going to fix the issue.

      • -2

The problem is, not every deal has tags set up properly. I wish there was a straight-up "Block Brands" option.

    • +18

Can't you just scroll past, what's the big deal?

      • +4

        Scroll past?

        How dare you Sir!

        Good day!

      • If it is HEYMIX, you gotta stop and checkout the "fire" chat.

    • I gotta find a way to block these Heymix deals.

What is your problem Willis? Your house got burned down by a HEYMIX product? lol

In all seriousness, this is a blazing deal!👍

      Thanks OPeeee…

    • -2

If these are as bad as people say, then it's concerning that this doesn't have more downvotes. The more of these fire hazards that flood the market, the greater the chance of going catastrophically wrong.
Nothing against OP because they probably didn't know, but avoid at all costs

      • +6

Unfortunately, noone who has criticized the deal on the basis of it being unsafe has posted any links to any evidence to back up their claims. How do we know that it's not just propaganda from one of the over priced cable retailers (checkout JB or Harvey's to know who I mean)?

        • +1

How do we know that it's not just propaganda from one of the over priced cable retailers

Possible, but why would they target an obscure brand like this? There are dozens of other white labeled brands that sell the exact same product, made by the same manufacturers.

That being said, I don't think Heymix is any more (or less) dangerous than any other random brand. Somehow it has become OzBargain's favourite scapegoat.

        • I would say Heymix's charging cables are fine, they are not going to cause a fire. However, I witnessed first hand their faulty charger and how it sends too much power etc. If you look at reviews for Heymix's high power chargers, you may find the hazards. Nonetheless, I will admit however, half of the commotion for Heymix on OzB is frabicated as if a trend. On a serious note, all of chargers are manufactured in China so their quality is determined by quality control. Anker and Heymix are probably manufactured in the same area but different standards I suppose.

Heymix is very prevelant on Amazon, maybe selling as much or more than Anker. I am certain that also sell their chargers under different smaller brands (same factory, rebranding the chargers). Perhaps their charger issues is more prevelant because they are selling more units, or possibly it could be more difficult to control their quality.

One of comments on OzB found out that Heymix recycles their "safety standards certificates" and display identical one for many of their chargers. I forgot the technical name of the certificate.

          • @FrugalFindsDownUnder:

Could you please describe this further? How did it send too much power?

            • @eug: Fried my power bank. After, my apple ipad shortly died on me after charging it (can’t pinpoint if charger is at fault but probably).

If you do not believe me, that is fine. I woudn’t believe it if someone else said this if I hadn’t actually had this happened to me

              • @FrugalFindsDownUnder:

That's why I wanted to find out if you had conclusive proof or you just thought it was the cause. The way you worded it sounded like you had definite evidence that it sent 'too much power'.

If it definitely was the charger that was the problem then it should be known, but if it wasn't, then you might just be tarnishing its reputation for no reason.

                • @eug: Nope, I wouldn’t deliberately tarnish a brand’s reputation for no reason. I mean’t I can’t pinpoint if the charger killed my ipad but it did fry my powerbank, didn’t made that clear. Had the power bank for a while and when I used the charger, I could smell plastic burning and it stopped working.

Anyways, I am just giving my recount of what happened. If I really wanted to tarnish Heymix’s reputation, I would be using definite words rather than saying it probably did it. Anyways, chargers are capable of doing this so it wouldn’t be surprising. I am happy to hear what you think the charger did if it didn’t supply too much power, I can’t think of any other way it would kill the devices

Note: yeah, I could’ve framed it better as “using it caused my devices to die” rather it supplied too much power, just a unintentional oversimplification

Not saying you did; I've just seen comments from people who misattribute fault to the charger. I remember one comment saying the charger burned or smoked at the port, but upon closer inspection the fault looked more like the usb cable and not the charger. People can innocently blame the wrong thing when something goes wrong so I always take a closer look at comments and reviews.

        • That's because they don't have any evidence. There were issues with a few Heymix chargers being poorly built and short circuiting, but it seems to have been isolated to that specific charger - and they were rightfully condemned in the OzB comments.

However, a bunch of clowns have now taken it upon themselves to come up with their very original jokes on every post that involves a Heymix product. Nearly every manufacturer, including Apple and Samsung have had defective and unsafe products.

All of this also entirely leaves out user error as a potential cause. I recently posted a deal on a Lencent multi port GAN charger, with power outlets that seemed like a steal compared to the very similar Baseus units that are popular on OzB. The Baseus unit has an illegally unsafe uninsulated power cable that has had a track record of fatalities, the Lencent does not. The Lencent did however, have an Amazon review of a user who had their power outlet explode while using the charger, which points to the power outlet being the issue - but lucky for us, it turns out that the very same clowns who post on these Heymix threads are also very smart and highly experienced electricians, who wasted no time to point towards the wrong issue and crown Lencent the new Heymix. I've been using the Lencent unit for a couple of months now with zero issues, both in Australia and overseas.

As with any purchase, read the reviews, rely on the evidence - not the clowns, exercise judgement and make an informed decision.

        • I get you but many of these dirt cheap "no-brand" electronics often have serious quality issues and it's almost impossible for the average person to know what's good and what isn't. And USB-C is especially notorious for cables not complying with spec. The easiest and safest way is just to avoid generic name brands entirely.

only 1m long, not sure what people are using these short-ass cables for. Needs to be a minimum 1.5m (ideally 2m) to be generally useful IMO, given powerpoints are usually near the ground.

checked my previous deals and got 2 x 1.5m heymix 100w USB C cables for $4.99 (total) back in June, that's the price to beat.

    • +5

I'm looking for 1m or 0.5m in white. For charging phones on the kitchen bench, powerpoints are above the bench.

    • +4

These are great for working in the office. I can plug them into my iPad laptop, soon phone ect. Having said that a 3m to charge my laptop when not at a desk with power on it is a must

    • +6

I find 1m to be perfect for on a desk, as it makes it easier to hide the cable when not in use, as well as on a bedside table with a multiport charger sitting inside it, once again, to minimise cable clutter. I use longer cables for other things, but 1m is more than enough for most of my uses.

    • 1m is good for a power bank that will sit on a table or on your bag while giving you enough length to use the device while it chargers.

It's also long enough if you have a socket right next to your bed and want to charge your device on your bedside table.

Some people place a power board on their desk for easy access. A cable that is too long would just be messy.

    • When your travelling, 1m, .5 or even .3m makes for pretty easy packing

    • +2

I got a 6ft (182cm) Anker cable (pretty sure what the Heymix ripped off) and it's a pest in my car, with it's longness and tangled up all over the damn placenesss.

The other is good on my couch though, long enough to come from behind.

      • Giggidy giggidy..

  • +1

comes up at $16.99 for me.

  • +4

I got excited, then saw it's only USB 2 speed (0.480Gbps). No wonder it's that cheap.

    • Thanks for the heads up.
      Cancelled

    • yeah the slow speeds are becoming nuisance, especially with the nvme external enclosures deals that have appeared, now need to make sure i don’t usb c cables up, rather just fast charge cables and don’t need to worry about types i have.

  • Bought quite a few of these during amazon day sale, for me they only charge on a certain side. Mildly annoying!

  • Not sure who “chargerking” is..
Pretty certain HeyMix have their own Amazon store directly so it could be dodgy.
Aside from the comment here that it’s only USB2, and a review stating video doesn’t work through it

      • -1

You think they sent a letter to your address accusing you of being a competitor, can’t really confirm. Lmao. 🤣

    • +1

I will edit my comment as someone has doubt in it, I guess I need to be careful and clear in my language here on OzB sadly.

      To answer your question.

They are a legit seller of Heymix items, I bought from them once. Actually like half of the Heymix deals on OzBargain are from them.

I would steer away from this specific seller though. Had my GAN charger fry my power bank and other devices. Chargerking blamed the devices and not the charger, was in denial the whole time. They dodged my negative reviews by creating a new listing several times, accusing me of being a competitor (Zyron) and trying to bring down their store. They even said they were a small store :/

However I had a pleasant experience with Heymix Life though, they refunded me after I received a defective monitor arm

After my experiences, I just avoided Heymix products. Anker and UGREEN are decent but can be pricy. Some other gems out there too. However, can’t go wrong with charging cables as they have little to no safety concerns.

      • +1

Not sure why I got negged.

I was referring to that it was hilarious if they actually did send a letter…

        • Oh my bad, I thought you were doubting if they sent it (can’t undo my neg so heres a upvote). They even wrote my Amazon reviewer name in sharpie on the Express Post letter (not my real name). Had to be them but I won’t be throwing accusations.

AusPost couldn’t track it back to the seller and Amazon CS only did was file an investigation which did nothing. Generally Heymix sellers really do prioritise reviews, Heymix Life was begging me to remove my 3 star review

  • Does these support samsung 45w charging? I have used multiple other brands but they only support 25w charging.

    • They work for super fast charging for my s22+, not sure what the wattage is on that.

      • Is it super fast charging or super fast charging 2.0?

  • +1

Any good deals on 5-10Gbps spec for these cables?

  • anyone tried these with a laptop?
