[PS5, Pre Order] Marvel's Spider-Man 2 $49 (Was $125) with Trade-in of 2 Selected Games @ EB Games

240

Releases 20 October

I think this is a really good deal to get pre order items with it.

Anyone find any good cheap games that are worth trading towards it?

there is also new switch games for $29 if you trade in two games

Pre order price is $125 on EB vs $99 on JB Hifi

    • yes normally goes down on release date, i think and if not hope they price match.. this can save you $$ if you can find games for 10-20

      • In my experience EBs prices don't drop until months later.

The smart ones preordered on Amazon when it was announced and have locked it in for $79.20

        • -1

He never said he was one of the smart ones.

        • Sorry what, I got in on that Amazon deal also; are you saying it does not include the pre-order content?

          • @Stoibs: not on amazon orders.

            • @Rukiata: Oh Damn 😓

              • -1

@Stoibs: That's not true. Amazon will email you a code for any preorder bonuses.

                • @His_Holiness: 😀

Honestly I'm not too fussed either way, a couple of costumes isn't worth the difference in price for me but that will be a nice bonus in any case.

                • @His_Holiness: I get where they're coming from because there is currently no mention of preorder bonuses on the Amazon listing.

Probably subject to change because they also currently have three images of the same case cover art in their listing.

                • @His_Holiness: It is true until you show me proof. They have no mention of dlc on their ad.

        • All other retailers appear to all have that preorder bonus so it would seem strange if amazon didnt get it too, but EB deal is better anyway if you can find total < $30 games for the deal

          • -2

@xcess: because amazon isnt a retailer and they dont have it on the ad.. if its not there, they dont have it. hthey never have pre order bonus's rarely do.

people need to stop giving false info like they know everything when they have no proof too.

            • -1

@Rukiata: You also have no information that Amazon won't be giving away the same pre-order bonus at all. All we know is that it is not offered at this current moment in time. The listing may be subject to change and such information may not have been updated yet. As I mentioned previously, the listing also currently has three images of the same case cover art.

I contacted PlayStation and asked if they had a list of retailers that would be offering the pre-order bonus, but they did not have such a thing and instead urged me to pre-order the digital version (lol).

Amazon AU is both a retailer and marketplace. Pre-order bonuses that are offered by other retailers are quite oftenly given out by Amazon AU too - just from a quick search this includes upcoming games like EA FC 24, Skull and Bones, Assassin's Creed Mirage and Mortal Kombat 1. This is not a recent phenomena as Amazon AU has also offered pre-order bonuses with many game releases in the past.

              • -1

@jjsu: Then come back and say i told you so when there is proof

                • +2

                  @Rukiata: I told you so.

Just received this via email from pre-ordering the game on Amazon AU.

You recently ordered PlayStation Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Standard Edition - PlayStation 5 in your Amazon order #XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX and have qualified for a pre-order bonus code. We are pleased to include your code, as well as full redemption instructions, below:

                  • @jjsu: What exactly is this bonus?

                    • +1

@Dienk: When redeeming the code on PS5, it lists is as "Spider-Man 2 Pre-Order Content Entitlement".

I have not received the game yet to verify what it exactly is, but one can only assume that is the same pre-order bonus that has been provided at most other retailers (i.e. suits, gadget, skill points) as it has been the only pre-order bonus that has been advertised by Sony.

                      • @jjsu: yeah seems a lot of people wont find out what the code is for a couple of days since it seems a lot of Amazon orders were delayed but you can complain to Customer service and they should give you $10 or $20 credit, which makes it a pretty good deal

                  • @jjsu: nice work, is it the same or diff?

              • @jjsu: looks like they got them but not sure if its the same

            • @Rukiata: but Amazon US and UK are? they have it showing plus The pre-order bonuses are early unlocks of the suits and gadget in the game. They are earnable via gameplay and progression for those who may miss the pre-order window.

              • @xcess: but not AU? go ask amazon then? not sure why people are here fighting it when there is no proof… and then downvoting me

i went and asked amazon chat, staff cant find any info https://prnt.sc/w2PUcaha4mt3 there so its unlikely but believe what you want

                • @Rukiata: Its not the first time Amazon didnt list something properly. I personally dont care bout the code since you get that stuff anyway but later and I didnt downvote you You just seem sure it wont have it when even big w will have it. You can cancel the preorder anytime so you dont lose out on anything anyway but I am leaning towards they will have it and just forgot to add it

I asked too and they start linking me about price guarantee and not understanding my question, sometimes these guys are like AI, still 2 months away they have plenty of time to update their pages

              • @xcess: looks like they got them but not sure if its the same

    • +1

You can trade in the 2 games now then pricematch JB on release. Did it the other day and the deal gives you $28 per game. It's a great deal if you're trading in $10 games.

      • I assume you have to go in store with the games you want to trade in? Can't do online?

        • +1

          In store only.

      • -2

Ebgames does not price match any store.

        • +2

They do, but it's not often you'll get one approved.

The price being matched needs to be in-stock at a brick and mortar store in the local area, can't be on clearance and can't price match to garner EB Exclusive items/editions.

Edit: Did not neg you, just wanted to share what I've been told by EB employees

          • @jjsu: To honest I never tried but I saw other members saying it was not possible at all. Good to now.

One question, if you price match this deal, how much would pay if you traded in 2 games? (I assume it isnt $49)

            • @Dienk: I price matched today and paid $35 for the game.

        • +1

I've been price matching Big W/JB-HiFi for my pre-orders on release day

    • JB also have it free when you trade 2 games (but it's a smaller list).

      • Is this expired now? I can't find any information on that.

        • It is gonna on the date of the launch. Ebgames ends 1 week after launching

  • +6

Is there an up to date games list floating around any where?

  • +2

Does anyone know what are the eligible games that we can trade in, can’t seem to find it on their site

  • Galaxy of guardians ps5 is 10. Ff21 switch is 9 so wont work. Hades ps5 is 10 so works

  • Did this the other day when I happened to be doing the birthday trade in,

Guy stuffed it up, in like 3 different ways, but considering I was going to price match, it's potentially in my favour (long story)

The games I used were Gotham Knights and Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, both Xbox…both 9 bucks a couple of months ago bought for the birthday trade in deal.

I don't have the receipt any more, but Gotham was only like 12/13 ish without the bonus, and Lego was I think around 20. I'd say in terms of elligibility, it's the usual $10+ trade in value.

That guy stuffed it up HARDCORE so I don't know, maybe competent people will differ, but he couldn't run it through and have me actually finalize the transaction until release date, so right now, at least with him anyway maybe he just (profanity) it, you basically get a shitload more trade credit, because I just have an open preorder with 80 something bucks on it, that I could cancel and cash out whenever I want. Fine by me, I was gonna price match on release day anyway.

  • Must not have many pre orders to offer this for such a big release

    • +1

They run these kinds of deals quite often for big releases. Notable ones include Elden Ring, Tears of the Kingdom, Horizon Forbidden West.

  • Is there no trade in list at all on their website? I can't find it anywhere

    • They dont provide it

      • +2

'Selected games' but you have to figure out what they selected. The fk is this, Guess Who?

        • Yeah but you can get an approximate idea looking at their preowned prices. If is above $28 then it should be eligible, but there are exceptions like mentioned above hades and guardians still work even though the preowned prices are below $28

  • It says to 'see staff for list'. If anybody gets a chance to go in and ask, please share!

    • +2

I have never had a worker share the list with me, they just ask to see what you're trading in and then tell you if it's eligible or not.

Easiest way (which is still a PITA) is to ring up an EB and rattle off a list of games that you're looking to use and they'll tell you if it's eligible or not - in doing so you'll know what to bring in-store for the trade and won't be surprised by anything.

  • is that a good deal ?
Trade in 2 relatively new games so you can pay at least $25 over what everyone else charges

    • Its good if you find $10 games which is much easier than JBs deal

      • my experience EB doesn't do it with cheap games they are almost always recent high price games

        • They do, they accept anything with value of $10 like the above guy even used $9 games that EB sold themselves from their last sale. Deathloop was also $15 too. JBs 2 for $30 was also good but they havent updated the titles for a while

  • +1

We Got a list of what those Selected Games are ?

  • I just did this deal. It's worth noting you can only trade in next-gen games (PS5, Series X, Switch).

I went to the CeX store and noted in my phone all their PS5 games that were under $20. Then I took that list of games to EB games to figure out which were eligible (it's only games with a trade-in value greater then $10). I was able to find 2 games that were eligible, Watch Dogs Legion (cost me $15) and Hades (cost me $20). Rather than paying cash at Cex, I just traded in my copy of Miles Morales which gave me $35 store credit that covered the 2 games.

I then went to EB games and traded those 2 games in and will have $49 to pay on pick-up. 2 different staff members were adamant they would not price match the $99 of JB and from my experience they don't price match on these trade-in deals anymore.

Still a good deal for me anyway, as I was basically able to trade in Miles Morales (something I won't play once Spider-Man 2 is released) and knock off $75 off Eb's retail (or $50 off JB).

    • ..its 50 at jb? what this is 89+ retail. they boosted up their prices because its sony.

    • I only had Miles Moralis to trade, other games were worth more like Ragnarok and Hogwarts that I haven't finished yet and want to keep

Went onto the CeX website and found a couple games in stock at my local that were eligible for the EB Games trade in (Assassin's Creed Valhalla $15 and F1 22 $18). Traded in Miles Moralis to CeX for $31 and paid $2 extra to get the other games. Took those to EB Games and traded them in for the $49 deal for Spider-Man 2. Total cost: a copy of Miles Moralis, $51 and a little of my time!

Being that the game is $99 most other places, I essentially turned my copy of Miles Moralis (that I probs would never play again anyway) into being worth $48 with fairly little effort. Not too bad!

  • traded in gotham knights and dying light 2 from cex

  • +1

Went to CEX and bought Black Ops IIII Xbox for $15 and F1 22 for $18 and traded them both in to get Spiderman 2 for $49.

    $82 in total. Not bad.

    The comments helped.

    Thanks OP.
