Why do I have this feeling that the OP is an Associate. Folks, before you purchase please be sure to check the thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13920793/redir

    • Or maybe they're just someone who hasn't read the other thread?

    • Not affiliated.

    • I wouldn't trust that guy, sounds like a kook.

    wifi extender to reach my rear bungalow… 😂 😂 😂 😂

    • +1

Surely you could just have the servants wear tin foil hats throughout the manor and if your internet starts lagging have them serve high tea at the bungalow. That's what I do and it works fine.

    • Perhaps OP live in a tea plantation 🤣🤣🤣

No going easy. Didn’t read the rules - don’t say “first post, go easy”.

  • Does it cover basement for parasites

You shouldn't refer to your children like that

Nobody should be buying repeaters nowadays with mesh wifi being so accessible in price and range.

Please share a mesh deal for $20. This is a budget compromise.

      • Get a Tenda for <$40 each. Spending twice isn't really a good compromise.

      • Spend a bit more. I got an ASUS repeater for around $60 at the time (if you got an ASUS router of course)

Works well - a few issues getting it setup but all good once I used Ethernet to establish the MESH

One thing I found odd is they don't retail these in Australia

      • share a mesh deal for $20. This is a budget compromise.

You can't mesh for $20 - you need to increase the budget to meet your project requirements.

    • +1 to mesh

So much better. Love how the devices connect seamlessly to the same SSID across routers/extenders

  • Obviously there are better solutions if you have the money for mesh or ability to run cables to another AP, but these do work. They're an okay option for a renter on a budget. I used one to reach the front room of a house where it was the difference between "no signal" and being able to stream Netflix.

If you get one, you need to put them somewhere that still has good signal, but is closer to where you're trying to reach. It can only "extend" what it receives. I imagine some of the negative reviews involve people placing them incorrectly and expecting miracles.

Which wifi mesh would you recommend under $150?

      • Tenda MW3

      • +1

Does Gigabit ethernet matter to you? The Tenda MW3 and TPLink E4 only have a 100Mbps port.

MW5 and M5 respectively have Gigabit, which for me matters, since I have a number of devices wired in.

  • These are pretty useful actually for connecting devices straight to Ethernet - so a new pc and installing a fresh os, and wifi is unavailable. Had a recent experience with a fresh install of win 11 and it was impossible to progress the install without plugging into Ethernet for internet access

  • This is another piece of extremely low quality chinese junk. Hence the price.

  • Research how extenders work. They're junk.

Mesh is the way to go.

      For $17?

These things aren't worth the pennies you pay for them.
    AVOID!!!
