Alesis Nitro Mesh Electronic Drum Kit $599 Delivered @ Belfield Music

Product Information
New 8-piece Mesh Kit brings “Mesh to the Masses” with unmatched playability, response and versatility combined with amazing value.

The Nitro is an 8-piece kit (5 drums, 3 cymbals) with incredibly-responsive next generation Alesis mesh heads on all drums for a playing experience that far exceeds anything else in its class.

This is the ideal set for any beginner-to-intermediate drummer looking for a realistic, responsive playing experience in a compact set that’s easy to transport and set up. These drummers haven’t had the opportunity to experience the superiority of Alesis mesh kits. Until now.

The Nitro Mesh Kit is a complete 8-piece electronic drum kit centered around next-generation Alesis mesh head drum technology. Mesh heads are the overwhelming preference of drummers for their natural playing feel and for their ultra-quiet response when not disturbing others is the priority.

This kit has an 8" dual-zone mesh snare drum and (3) 8" mesh toms. It includes everything drummers need for a complete drum kit: (3) 10" cymbals, custom-designed Alesis hi-hat pedal and kick pedal, and a durable 4-post aluminum rack. Also included is all the cabling, the power supply and drum key. It all connects to the legendary Nitro electronic drum module, which has hundreds of drum and percussion sounds, 40 drum kits, and 60 built-in play-along tracks. And, as all drummers demand, it has an aux input to connect a smartphone or music player for instant practice and accompaniment.

  • This appears to be an excellent price. I paid $645 off Amazon pre-Christmas - and that was a good price.

Bought the tabletop Alesis CompactKit7 to get started just a month ago and told myself I'd pickup this kit in a years time if I'd kept up with it.

This price makes it REALLY tempting, although I have no where to put it (which my wife would say is why I should be putting more in the house deposit savings and not on toys 😂)

    • +1

      a house isn't a home if it's empty…so really it's an investment

    • Your wife does make a good point

      • +1

        You're his wife, aren't you?

    • Okay… so I'm a dabbler in music and would never claim I can play an instrument. I "play" my guitar and piano now and again just to mess with simple chords…

But that tabletop kit IS a toy. This is not. This is an actual drum kit. I do not blame you if you didn't keep up with that tabletop pad thing. I reckon if you get this, you'll have more fun with it. It'll be way more comfortable to play as well.

  • How do these feel and sound compared to real drums?

    • +1

Different, and different. If you live somewhere with enough space and distance from neighbours, get a real kit. If you don't, get one of these.

    • +2

      Few presumptions, I suppose.

The sound will really depend on your amplifier/ speakers, as electronic drum samples are all quite standard. You can also get really bad sound on real drums if they're tuned badly or in bad condition.

Depends which brand, I tried Roland v-drum, it is so much better than my Legacy but big difference in price.

  • I was literally looking at these sets this morning! So tempted :)

  • Apparently (based on a you tube review) the snare drum has a 1cm rim on it that means that you are unable to play it like a normal snare drum, which has more of a 5mm rim. Sounds like a little thing but I think I'd find it annoying to be hitting the rim when trying to do bounces etc.

    • +2

You can adjust the snare height and angle to mitigate this. My e-kit has a 1cm rim and I love it. No issues with rimshots

This is a great kit for the price. It doesn't replace playing a real kit but it's not supposed to. Mesh heads and an actual kick beater are much better to play with than many of the alternatives offered at this price point.

FWIW I'd recommend playing with headphones, as you will hear the kit better over the sound of your sticks striking the pads. Source: Lifelong drummer

    • I was a drummer for 2 months… Until my neighbour yelled at me. Now I play drums on my electronic keyboard. "Play".

  • Can these be used as a MIDI drum controller? It would be great to be able to pair this with some virtual drum VSTs and record "natural" drum tracks through my music software (not that I can play, but since when does that stop an OzBargainer?). I can't see any mention of MIDI capabilities on the description.

Edit: Never mind, according to this site it does have MIDI in and out ports.

    • USB and MIDI, as well as the usual audio outs

  • +1

Picked one of these up during covid and have had great fun with it to build up some co-ordination and record some songs. I later ended up getting the expansion kit too which adds an extra cymbal and tom. Having USB and midi is great but honestly ive only ever used the USB cable and it's worked with VST's and even things like Clone Hero to bring back those Rockband joys but with something much nicer to play with the mesh pads. It takes a beating and folds away pretty small and is not too loud (depending on how hard you hit and kick). The built in kits sound good enough for practice, but really if you want to take it semi-seriously combining it with some decent drum software you can make it sound like any real kit you want.

  • We have one of these, it's great, recommend

  • Price is now showing as $629
