Why are these so frickin expensive?

    • +2

      yeah man this blows

    • I love mine. Have the original, used flybuys points to purchase.
Purchased 2nd one about 3 years ago when living elsewhere during covid and purchased a "reconditioned" one - was new without box( discontinued gold leaf one). Purchased this from eBay Dyson for about $200. Well worth it.

      • Can you share your experience on how does it compare to regular ones like Remington? I mean what are the added values apart from the brand name? Genuine enquiry, not trying to be rude

        • +3

Remington is a budget brand in the hair drying world , dyson is a very premium brand.

GHD would be a closer brand to compare it to.

Ultimately the idea is these don't rely on very high heat and airflow to dry your hair, they can dry more effectively and efficiently with lower heat, which is better for your hair.

        • +1

I have fine hair, I dry it on one of the lower heat settings. Never burns hair unlike Kmart , Remington or hotel dryers. So many attachments included too. Comfortable to use.
One attachments smooths hair beautifully and straightens just by the way it blows your hair down and sorta horizontal simultaneously. Similar to their more expensive hair styling tool.

They dont feel any better than a $40 kmart one, but the missus loves it, so money well spent.

    • +2

Luckily mine tried one out and didn't like it, so we can stick to cheaper ones.

$469 for a hairdryer I'd say that's very reasonable for a hairdryer made in China.

    • +8

Get over country of origin. There's huge variation of quality based on materials used, quality assurance and any other number of factors. Besides, with the global market, chances are you're using parts that comes from China regardless of country of origin.

      • But my Dyson V10 was made in Malaysia and my Dyson supersonic was made in Philippines.

    • The Chinese generic brand of dyson hairdryer selling under $100 and they are very good quality.

    • +2

I don't get why people don't realise that like 70% of the world's good are either made in China or have parts in China.

  • Occasionally fizzes your hair with unexplained sparks

  • It was a while ago now, but I found most hair dressers on YouTube preferred the Parlux over this.

OOS so I went to search on eBay and found this.
