Cashrewards and Shopback, is one better than the other?

I use Cashrewards regularly. I have seen the Shopback scheme mentioned a few times but haven't really looked into it. Does anyone here have both? Is one better than the other?
Thanks

Is one better than the other?

Doesn’t matter if one is better. People like you and me will complain the moment either rejects our tracking and subsequent cashback 🙃

    • I'm trying to ascertain if one programme is better than the other. I have had an excellent response from Cashback when I have contacted them with a problem. I have never had them reject any cashback queries I have had. I don't know why you automatically assume I will complain.

I have had an excellent response from Cashback

        Who?

        • -6

Not sure 'who' you are asking about. I am the poster of this question. I have never had any issues with cashback. In fact the only issue I have had is with Liquorland. 9 times out of 10 they don't track the cashback correctly. I deal with Liquorland alot because I buy the beer and wine for the bar we have with the theatre company.

@YankeeGirl: You said you have an excellent response from Cashback. Read what you wrote. You didn't write Cashrewards or ShopBack, you wrote Cashback, hence the who as in who are you referring to.

Comprehension isn't your strong suit, is it?

            • -4

@kerfuffle: Wow!!!! I meant Cashrewards of course. Do you always treat people this way over a very minor slip up? You must live a faultless life.

              • +4

@YankeeGirl: All I asked was 'who', for clarification. You're the one who went on a tangent. So I explained why I asked who. Your thread title refers to both Cashrewards and Shopback.

Clear communication is important if you want a discussion to occur.

                • @kerfuffle: Its commenting about his comprehension that makes you look like the knob head…

                  • @Geoff01: I guess you could be considered a knobhead too when you assume everyone on the internet is male?

@YankeeGirl: What a kerfuffle this is

I'm trying to ascertain if one programme is better than the other.

You have provided no criteria of your own to compare in your post. What makes one better? higher cashback rate for same item? More cashback amount for your wishlist? Higher successful tracking on website/app? Customer service when you have problem?

I have had an excellent response from Cashback when I have contacted them with a problem.

So rejection rate / amount is your criteria?

I have never had them reject any cashback queries I have had. I don't know why you automatically assume I will complain.

I have to make assumptions when you don’t provide much opinion to begin with.

Like when people simply ask “which bank offers the best mortgage?” Then cry like bitches when banks pass on interest rates hike.

If you going to ask for comparisons, set some criteria AND provide opinion up front.

Both good, reps (on here) are very responsive

Shopback App seems better? And not sure CR does discounted eBay gift cards?

    • +2

Shopback AU definitely has more users outside OZB circle.

    Porque No Los Dos

Obviously you can't, but just pick the one with the highest/best deal.

  • +2

Both are good. Make sure to use Paypal for all payments and disable any adblockers to ensure the payments track.

  • +1

Both as bad as each other

    • Why do you say that?

  • +7

They're all very similar, similar rates, similar service, though have promos at different times so if you have the energy its best to jump between them

The main difference i see is that Cashrewards is Australian, Shopback is from Singapore and TopCashback the UK, so when the rates are the same I prioritise Cashrewards.

Horses for courses. Depends on the deal.

In the past when SB were the new kids on the block, their rates were mostly slightly higher for same standard CB, but it seems that they've grown market share and CR now have slightly higher rates (from the ones that I've used).

both are fine i prefer shopback as ive had less issues with tracking

I just checked and am up to almost $5k total with Cashrewards. Can't be unhappy with that.

  • +4

I use both and have no issues. I go with whichever has the best cashback rate for a purchase I'm making.

I mainly use SB more becuase I buy a lot of trash from AliExpress and CR doesn't have AliExpress cash back

    • +1

CR does indeed do AliExpress cashback, but it doesn't support AliExpress apps (& hence no app-only discounts). Rather, on mobile, CR app launches an embedded browser to access AliExpress, which mostly works, but sometimes freezes during payment (on both Android phone and tablet for me). Browser on Windows is mostly ok.

Cash rewards is Australian owned. shopback is overseas company which had a data breach.

    • This very much still sticks in my memory.

With all the data breaches of businesses big and small, I believe that for most businesses it's more a case of "when" not "if".

So the question becomes how well does a business prepare for one, and when a breach does happen, how well does it respond?

Again from memory (happy to be corrected), Shopback's response was subpar.

    I mainly use shopback.
Cash rewards cashback has no expiry, whereas shopback cashback does expire if you don't cash it out in time (if not spending much, and not getting major cashbacks it can be easy for it to expire. I had some expire when they first became popular, I probably wouldn't now).
Because most shops are on both Cash Rewards and Shopback, I usually choose Shopback for that reason.
Also I enjoy the westpac bonuses on shopback.

  • Use both regularly & alternate depending purely on the % back from the supplier involved.

I did notice for awhile that CR seemed to allow more codes to be used with purchases - even if they are not advertised within each app - whereas SR would reject it.

Yet in saying that they both can seemingly reject a rebate at will.

Either way, if using browser ensure does not have addblockers active & record your purchases especially if it's a decent sized spend amount & % expected back as 'proof'.
Also don't leave stuff in carr for ages as that seems to mess them both about
