XBOX Marketplace - Back to School Sale. Includes Stacking 75% off

190

Back to School sale has some bargains in it, though less games (and mainly older games too) in Oz compared to other territories. Highlights for me below (all in MS Point prices, where 1000 MSP = $16.50)…

Stacking - 300 Points (I think down from 1200)
Carcassonne - 400 Points (was 800)
Joe Danger Special Edition - 600 Points (was 1200)

Lots more 50% off stuff in the list, inc DLC as well as full games - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-AU/Promotion/BacktoSchool_Sal…

    HA!

if only my school days involved xbox

  • do you need gold membership to buy these?

  • btw.

these are the current AU prices thru Ms

    500 Microsoft Points - $8.25
    1000 Microsoft Points - $16.50
    2000 Microsoft Points - $33.00
    5000 Microsoft Points - $82.50
    6000 Microsoft Points - $99.00

    not good?

    • not really….the yanks get it cheaper.

800ms points is equivalent to US10.00.

      • Anyone got a cheap source for points? MightyApe had the 3000 points on sale a couple weeks ago for under $40, but I umm'd about it for too long and missed out… :(

  • Great price for Stacking which is suppose to be a good game! Nice first post OP!

    • Stacking is a fantastic game. It's only very short (I was able to 100% it in maybe 3-4 hours) but it's charming and very clever. I paid full price for it and loved it, but wished I got a bit more for my money. At 300 points you should not pass it up :)

  • Some good deals to be had, especially the LA Noire rockstar pass for 400 (gives you all the downloadable cases). Shattered that we get shafted compared to the states, they got Rayman 3, Limbo, Alan Wakes American Nightmare and more.

    • We do get those other games (Alan Wake's American Nightmare etc) at 50% off this week, however they require gold membership.

Check the post from Major Nelson Babel: http://majornelson.com/2012/09/04/content-coming-soon-to-the…
Babel Rising, Rayman 3D HD, Mad Riders, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Limbo, Sine Mora are all listed under "Gold Exclusive Deal of the Week"

      • Well spotted - Alan Wake's American Nightmare has had some pretty good reviews. I'm amazed they aren't publicising any of this on the XBOX dashboard yet. Games, and particularly XBOX Arcade games, are looking less and less important to MS. There are also some great Xbox Indie games out there for less than 100 points, but still not in Australia, despite the Adult Ratings breakthrough this year. Doubt we will ever see these now. Shame.

        • All I can think of is that the publishers decide they can't be bothered spending the $2K it costs to get classifications here based on our small market.

The R 18+ doesn't come in until Jan and then requires the States to change the legislation to allow their sale.

  • Once you have bought the game can you play it without Internet connection (offline)?

    • You can play it offline on the console you first download it to or on any console you are logged into Xbox live for.

      • Do you have to have current xbox live subscription to play? What I wanted to know are:
        1. Do you have to active have xbox live subscription to purchase game?
        2. Do you have to active have xbox live subscription to play once you have bought it?

        • 1 - You need an Xbox live account but not gold. The free one is fine.
2 - As I stated above. It's available on the first console you download a game to regardless of the account and to any console that is signed into the owner's xbox live account and on the internet.

        • Thanks, I am now understand fully.

  • For those after Limbo, keep in mind the Xbox LIVE Hits Collection (contains Limbo, Trials HD and 'Splosion Man) can be had for ~ $15 delivered:
