  • How you tell it’s new or refurbished?

  • +4

    64gb storage is a curse.

    • +5

Hard disagree tbh. My XS is 64gb and have only really ran out of space a couple times - for the average user 64gb is enough, and 128gb is plenty enough.

      • +1

Yeah I agree. I had an 11 64gb, and it was fine. Never really had storage issues, and this was when my kids were young and I had all those Toca games too

        • +1

The problem with 64gb is when you start taking Video's and lots of photos.

As with kids you can take some 10min videos and there goes a bunch of space. Sure there is iCloud but you should be able to keep a bunch of those videos on the phone and watch them when ever you want.

    • agreed. min 128gb is the go nowadays

  • Only 4G

  • +3

If you’re wanting an older phone the used trio (fb marketplace, gumtree and eBay) is much more worth it. Also wouldn’t recommend anyone pick up an 11 nowadays when the 12 is only slightly more on the used market.

  • +1

Isn't it normally prices at 759 (128 gig version)? So not really a deal.

    • +1

This. These are the normal prices, this is not a deal. And these prices aren't very competitive.

  • +5

No point buying this. Spend a bit more a get 1 version lower than the newer model. It will be a better return on your investment. This phone will only last you 1 year. Most likely the new iOS 17 will be the last iOS update for this phone. Then after that, you have to get a new phone as there will be no more security updates, bug fixes etc.

    • +2

Checked now, my iphone 6s still gets some software security updates.

    • That’s correct newer 12 will be supported longer so the extra you paid is worth it unless it’s a clearance stock

    • Nonsense

I am on iOS 15 on my original SE and just got an update.

Apple will support iOS 17 for years in it strands iPhones still on sale. There are plenty of these phones still in stock apparently.

  • this should be $399-$499 tops

    • iphone 11 64GB (used) trade in value is $300 at JB, there is $500 bonus plus Trade-in phone value for Fold5 now.

  • +1

you can buy used iphone 13 128GB for around $700s fb/gumtree/ebay, still under warranty, iphone 11 shouldn't be anymore then $400 especially 64gb

    • Cheapest Buy-It-Now iPhone 13 128GB on eBay from a business is AU $899. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334615121973

Sellers on Facebook and Gumtree don't offer warranties, though you might get something through Apple if there's a manufacturing defect.

      • your warranty is with apple remainder of 2yr warranty, I just sold mine the other day for $800 but that was in imac condition, others selling in the $700's

  • +3

I am using iPhone 11 since it’s release (for 3 and a half years) now. It’s still going strong. Battery is slowly degrading now but really great phone.

  • Any iPhone experts here can advise what’s the best value for money old iPhone to buy now? And where you get it?

    • iPhone 13 128gb is $997 at office works I think. Its far better value than 759 for iPhone 11.

I just got a refurb iPhone 12 128gb off ebay for 625 with the 20% off code. I nearly new with almost no scratches.

    • 2020 SE at under $200 seems to fit the bill. EBay Refurb resellers my pref. a little more at Coles.

    • This one, runs iOS 17 and has a new battery and two years Apple full warranty.

    • whichever is the cheapest and supports 711 chopper app

What I want to know is where are all the negs?

I posted this exact deal three months ago and almost had to hand in my OzBargain card.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770975

    • Poor you. The negs were uncalled for.

      • 😢 Hurt my feelings…….

        • It can be harsh. Look at the positives instead 😊

  • according to descript it comes with better the legacy packaging (usbc-lightning cable, EARPODS, power adapter)!

unofrutnately we want a purple one for my sis

    • actually NO earpods & power adapter*

USB-C to Lightning charging cable only; EarPods with Lightning connector and power adapter no longer included in the box.

      it's the new/decreased packaging :\

  • Looking for a new IPhone 11 for my mother. She doesn’t want refurbished.

All the retailers have them for about the same price, any suggestions on how to get a little cheaper

    • Amaysim $529 but need to purchase with a SIM plan

  • The amaysim phone is unlocked.

The cheapest plan is $30 per month. Can I pay the $30, but use my own SIM instead, activate the new SIM and cancel the plan immediately.

So the iPhone 11 would work out to be $529 + $30.

Is my understanding of fine print correct? And what’s involved in cancelling the plan?

    • yup… $30 is a monthly prepaid plan, i think it comes with auto renewal as default but you can turn it off after you sign up.
