Apple iPhone 11 64GB $677 at Amazon AU

Seems like a good deal for some people, nicer than a SE and with FaceID.

The phone was discontinued late last year.

It’s still a very good phone that supports the latest and next iOS

It will cost you almost $400 more for the next six inch iPhone

This is normal price, the price hasn't really budged for many months now. https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B09L7QKYM5

    Past deals for iPhone 11

    • -5

True but the iPhone 12 has gone up since then.

Hence, not a bad deal, ~$400 is not chump change.

Is that how deals work? We post deals when the price stays the same but other things go up in price? If so, please can we petition to rename it to OzRelativeBargain… I don't think it'll catch on, but I insist upon it.

        • +5

Well, if we are being pedantic, in an inflationary environment an item staying the same price is actually falling in price.

          • -1

@Grok: I would suggest copyrighting OzPedantic, but I don't think it'll catch on. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy pedantry at it's best but don't think I could handle a website that just focussed on that alone.

    64gb

    • Just checked my iPhone 8 - 29GB used :-)

  • +9

Just keep in mind that this phone still has a 720p LCD display. Most other phones at this price are already using some sort of OLED at 1080p or better. Most of them also come with 128gb of storage and some even have a microSD slot. They will also compete in SOC performance and software support. There really isn’t a reason to get this phone, unless you’re willing to sacrifice a lot for the apple exclusive features.

Edit: forgot to mention that it also uses lightning, not USB-C.

Edit: forgot to mention that it also uses lightning, not USB-C.

      We're talking about iphones here.

      • -7

Okay cool. Still doesn't have USB-C

        • heard of magsafe

          • +3

@Surfsalot: This iPhone doesn't have Magsafe buddy (not that arguing for USB C as above makes any sense in this discussion either).

    • compromises come with iphones especially anything that's remotely cheap.

    • +1

iPhone 14 pro still has lightening

  • +2

I don't think a 64gb, non-expandable smartphone in 2023 makes a tonne of sense tbh. Not to mention there are better phones for less money, such as the Poco F4 5G

  • +1

Old phone for about $200 too much now.

  • +1

Standard price here as mentioned above, no deal. Cheaper on eBay too, even seeing brand new Pros for around this price.

  • +3

If you have an ageing user who only knows iOS and doesn't want refurbished/used then this is it.

    • +2

Yeah, I'd really advocate a refurbished 11 Pro for a few hundred less at this point. Most of those eBay sellers have a money back guarantee

    • +1

      Disagree.

They want an SE, which has a button and comfortably fits in a pocket.

      • Agree about the button. My siblings all said to stick with Apple because my mum is used to the UI. Well then the button got removed and she had to learn a new gesture. It did work well as a gateway, she’s got a Samsung now.

  • +2

type of phone thats getting old, with laughable storage & you just buy second hand off market place for $250-$300

    • I only payed $1K for a new 14 pro 256gb

      • must have been a desperate seller

        • +2

Yeah needed the cash that day, got lucky. I am always on the hunt though.

    • $400 is the going market rate, $350 if you're lucky

  • +2

Seems like a good deal for some people, nicer than a SE and with FaceID.

People choose SE because they don't want FaceID.

    • I kinda miss TouchID. I added all my fingers to it so I can unlock it with any finger on both hands.

  • -1

This is like the price of new 2023 phones after trade ins. Nah, saving money for new releases of samsung , pixels and iphones in next few
    Months

    • +1

No it’s not, we are discussing iPhones. This is the cheapest iPhone you can buy new.

Comparing a new iPhone to a secondhand phone that will soon require a new battery is not valid either.

Not everyone needs the latest and greatest, some people just make calls, maybe FaceTime and use a few apps. They could not tell the difference between this and a 14.

  • My Nokia T55 is eternal.

  • This is…not a good deal? Seems quite old and pricey, if they actually discounted it, people would be jumping over to the apple ecosystem.

  • LOL

  • I was about to suggest the $299 refurb iphone XR from coles as a good budget iphone but they're $599 now!

SE is still $249 and great value IMO, if you want an iphone.

  • +5

Everything pales in comparison to that iPhone 12 mini deal…

    • +1

I'm kicking myself for not getting one for the wife

      • I told four people about the deal and two of them thought it was a scam, lmao.

    • -4

Yep sold my 2 for $300 profit each, got the 2 x $125 sims refunded, then scored a new 14 pro 256 for $1k, net cost $150 lol.

  • That's everyday price sorry

  • it will be a bargain if it is ip 12

  • I’ll happily sell mine for that price for anyone interested 🤣

  • If you want a smaller screen and touch ID, then the new SE is nicer.

  • It has been this price at job and office works for 4 months. No deal

  • +1

Pompous $400 iPhone 12 mini gang, rise up.

    • Mini is such a good size though.

I want pro gear, but not brick.

  • You can easily get mint condition used 11/12 pro 256GB for around $500-$600 from marketplace.

  • its fine if you live in regional areas or areas without 5G.

FYI = iPhone 12 is the start of 5G capable iPhones
