Telstra Elite Modem $79 Save $20 Coles Prepaid with 5GB Data (5 Users Can Connect)

70

Normally $99

a hotspot in your pocket, a mobile broadband modem with Wi-Fi can have multiple devices connected for shared mobile broadband access over a telco's 3G network.

These devices act in a similar manner to regular USB modems to access an Internet connection, but their flexibility means they can connect to your notebook, tablets, ipods etc

Note this is locked to the Telstra network

A great little unit. Found it worked very well, although in my case I got it free from Telstra when my ADSL was down for 2 weeks. Far better reception and speed than my Vodafone MiFi

fairly sure this is new standard price from anyone that's a telstra reseller… think there was a price drop on the this WiFi modem and the USB modem went down to $59 too

  • How long do you have to use the 5GB?

It's in the fine print on the page "go to deal" - 30 days.

    • Thanks

  • Any ideas of the Unlocking Fee cost? There is no info on either the page or Telstra's site…

    • I'm curious if it can be unlocked too, but I should point out that mobile internet still doesn't have very good coverage and most people will be frustrated trying to use a provider with even less coverage than telstra.

I can work on the train into Sydney most mornings using Telstra mobile internet, but the afternoons/evenings it's too slow and cuts out too much to work at all.

It's $100 to unlock in the first 6 months and $27.50 after that. Still if you're looking to unlock it the Vodafone one is better as it supports all 3 Australian 3gfrequencies whereas this only supports the 2 Telstra uses. You should be able to buy an unlock code from eBay for far less than the prices Telstra charges though

      • The tech spec says it supports 850/1900/2100MHz for 3G. Is this any different from the Vodafone version?

        • Not sure what frequencies the Vodafone one supports, but the frequencies used in Australia are 850/900/2100 MHz. America uses 1900 MHz.

        • Yes it is different.

All networks use 2100Mhz. Optus and Vodafone use 900Mhz in regional areas. Telstra uses 850Mhz nationwide. Vodafones new network is built using 850Mhz as well.

Hence Vodafone is the only network using all 3 frequencies and their Prepaid Wifi 2 is the only device to support both 850 and 900Mhz 3G.

1900mhz is exclusive to america and isn't used in australia.

  • i've already got a hotspot in my pocket ;)

  • Also $79 from Australia Post. They advertise 5GB 60 days.
