Hyundai Recessed Smart Tuneable White LED Downlight 6 Light Bundle $89.95 + Delivery ($0 over $99 Spend) @ Hyundai Lighting

150

I was looking for smart downlights to swap some of the old ones that are faulty and this was by far the cheapest I could find.

Not RGB though and is "Hyundai"branded with 3 years warranty.

Anyone has bought these before or has better alternatives please let me know before I take the plunge.
Thanks

The ops listing is for smart enabled white tuneable btw - it’s not a bad deal.

I’d prob wait for the aldi $13 deal per downlight to rock up again

      • Will they show up again?

        • +2

most likely, last time was in may, time before that was september
          price is trending down too.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: oh shiit, fingers crossed then! I need some and was about to spend waaaaay too much on them.

      • +7

        $13 x 6 = $78
        which is a $12 saving….

The ALDI $13 deal is Not worth waiting for if you have conventional 50w downlights that need replacing….
        some math - 50w x 6 = 300w
Electric is on average say 25c per kWh (yeah, there's peak, off peak, shoulder, YOU do that math please)
that's 7.5c per hour to run your downlights

Lets say you run them for 8 hours a day (yeah, there's summer, winter, weekends, holidays, you do that math please)
        that's 60c per day to run them………

        $12 / 60c = 20 days…payback time!

So, in less than a month, these lights will have paid for themselves…………..

well, they wouldn't have actually, because if you installed these NOW…then each lamp takes up 9 watts
they take up 1/5th of the energy….which means 6 will cost 1.5c per hour to run……….12cents per day….

well, you have 25W conventional downlights that need replacing?
well, you can afford to wait 2 months then before it was cheaper to have replaced them all 2 months ago with these

        But, you get the idea.
sometimes waiting costs more than just doing NOW

        • The good thing about aldi is if you live somewhere which doesn’t sell out, they reduce prices. Saw them going for $10 I believe at one point.

        • Mate, you're fudging the number, no one is having those 50w downlight anymore if you do you don't have to spend $13 each to replace the whole fitting just the bulb. Actually you can get it replaced for free pretty much with various government incentives.

  • Looks decent!, I don't know much about smart downlights, but I assume the physical switch needs to be turned on at all times?
so turning off the lights must be done using the app (or voice control) instead of the physical switch (otherwise you need to switch it back on before you can voice/app activate it?)

    • +1

yes you are correct with the latter.

switch off= power off = no response

    • +2

      Or install a smart switch.

      • +1

What is the point of installing a smart downlight if you have a smart switch? Genuine question.

        • +1

I've got smart lights and some (not all…yet) are connected to shelly modules.

This allows me to have the lights on at all times and the switch and still be used for guests who don't know/forget.

It also allows for automations to be created based on different switch types, eg if you replace the switch with a button you can have 3 functions.

An example of this would be Single press / Double / Hold and they do different things like single at warm white, double at cold white and hold for dimming or timed lights.

    Are these Tuya based?

  • -3
    • No the tricolor is non smart and 3 different shades of white

  • BT/Wifi connections.
    Item description says Tuya based.

  • Can I install this on my hunn-dai automobile? My Santa-Fe would be nice with some colourful Santa- Fez xmas cheer :-)

Jokes aside, didn't even know car company made consumer light bulbs.

    Made in Korea quality?

  • What tunes can it play?

  • Did anyone follow the checkout process? It auto filled someone else's personal details and address, very odd behaviour from a checkout system

  • Definitely not related with Korea or Hyundai brand..

Be careful purchasing anything from hyundai lighting, I've purchsed several strip lights and the white LEDs turn yellow after about 6 months. Warranty and service is pretty much non existant, call and email approx once a month to see when my refund they promised will be coming. They are actually called Azoogi lighting just selling the hyundai brand.

    • Yep thats what i was looking to confirm. thanks
