  • Perfect timing - purchased a couple of sims for upcoming trips. Thanks!

    • Thanks for the support :)

This deal is much better for Europe https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709184, 11gb Roaming Europe and I think 100gb in Poland for only $0.37 for 30 days.

    • Yeah was going to post this but then OP will lose all his business sales so I decided not to.

I have personally used it in my trip to Europe last month and it works great. No need to buy from these sim card dealers anymore

    • E-Sim only! My Poco F5 doesn't support E-Sim sadly :(
Bought EU sim for my upcoming trip.

    • Im currently touring the UK, but did a week in the Netherlands first. This simnwas perfect for EU. And because I cancelled early when I got to the UK they returned my 37c! I felt a little bad. But hey. It's their awesome policy.

    • Do you have send them a photo of your passport and a selfie for this deal?

  • +2

Having just done a big trip in US and Europe, my suggestion is just buy an esim online. It usually activates within seconds and is also pretty much always cheaper than these travel sims.

My experience with the travel Sim was that it was overpriced and I always found a cheaper plan online locally just using Google. Using esims mean you can get it on instantly.

If your phone doesn't support esim then maybe travel sims might give you some peace of mind

  • Got 2 eSims for the upcoming Japan trip. Thanks OP!!!

If you purchase the 15 Days then it will last for 15 days.

For Japan as the provider is "Taiwanese operator" as mentioned does that mean data roaming also needs to be enabled?

    • +1

If the provider CHT (Taiwanese operator) - then yes you need to turn data roaming on.

We also have a new Japan eSIM from NTT Docomo IIJ this is a local eSIM and data roaming does NOT need to be turned on :)

If I currently have an esim, and switch to this esim while overseas. Is it easy to get my existing esim back when I'm in Australia?

Sorry new to the whole esim stuff

    • +1

Yes, On most phones you can have multiple esims downloaded. Just need to switch your aussie esim back on.

    • Hello yes you just need to turn the Australian eSIM back on :)

      -Anton

    Hi All!

We also recently launched new Japan eSIM (NTT Docomo IIJ) - this is priced aggressively for a limited time :)

    -Anton

    • Not aggressive pricing at all, this is far cheaper: https://network.mobile.rakuten.co.jp/fee/saikyo-plan/en/?l-i…

      • We still think our eSIMs are good value with fast and quick customer support via WhatsApp, Messenger, 100% Aussie-owned business, ease of use and the convenience of getting the SIM card on hand before your trip.

If you prefer buying from Rakuten of course that is fine :)

        -Anton

I buy a bunch of Japan sims, this isn't a deal, it's expensive.

Hello! we think our prices for Japan eSIMs are quite competitive - which Japan SIMs are you referring to?

      -Anton

Hi Mate, I just want to share some experiences about the Japanese simcard I purchased early this year. It worked fine in major cities ,but when my wife and I went to less popular cities like Fukui, only my phone had access to internent. My wife was using OPPO findx5 pro Au model and I was using oneplus oversea model. Maybe you guys want to have a look of this when you have 5. Overall I like TravelKon, good product.

        • Heya! thanks for the feedback.

SIM cards are quite technical, next time you encounter issues like this please do contact us to troubleshoot as there are many variables we can think of :)

          -Anton

I usually use this, reception is great.
        https://network.mobile.rakuten.co.jp/fee/saikyo-plan/en/?l-i…
        AUD $34.32/month

This is far better value that the plans you posted and is a standard deal. Not sure who is fine with 10GB of data over 30 days, pfff

EDIT: of and this plan is a sliding scale, if you use less you pay less, down to about $10 a month for up to 3GB, max you pay is $34 for anything over 20GB

        • Do you buy this once you arrive in Japan or from Australia?

Also, can you just buy this for short trips under 1 month and cancel soon after?

          • @barmember: I had a look and couldn't find anything that tells you a minimum connection time. I too am looking for a sim for under a month.

    • Cheapest I've found for a good amount of data.
If you've found a deal elsewhere, why haven't you posted it?

      • -1

Because this is ozbargain, not ozstandarddeals.

Try this plan if you're interested, $34.32/m with unlimited data. https://network.mobile.rakuten.co.jp/fee/saikyo-plan/en/?l-i…

        • -1

This is an ongoing plan - not even close to the same thing. People, like myself, going for 2 weeks do not need a plan to ith "X free for the first 3 months" type deals.

        • +1

          Hello, thanks for sharing.

Definitely not a bad deal, but we offer English, 100% Aussie support, easy to use product.

Our SIM/eSIM definitely still offer a good value for people who want the easiest most connivence option (i.e. SIM card on hand or eSIM installed prior to the travel)

          -Anton

  • Do people find the small data allowances with esims sufficient for travel?

  • What is the best esim for New Zealand?

    • +1

Hello - please refer to our New Zealand eSIM page.

      -Anton

    • +3

If you don't mind physical sim and only traveling less than 14 days then the popular way was get a $2 prepaid Optus SIM & recharge it with a $20 data only international roaming add-on= 10 GB/14 days

      https://www.optus.com.au/prepaid/plans/add-ons

      • I just saw this, so the way its explained is that you pay $20, data is charged at $0.02/mb but they are giving you $210 value or as they say the equivalent of 10GB.

I haven't used this before, but since it is prepaid I assume this means you can't go over the limit, that once you hit that $20 thats it, no other charges?

How do you keep data on but stop texts and calls coming in?

        • I have no idea unfortunately, it's just what I saw was a common thing to do according to forum search.
I'll be using that setup on my NZ travel this September though so let's see how that goes

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one for a forthcoming trip.

    • Thank you for the support! :)

      -Anton

  • Thanks OP. Nearly bought some Japan SIMs the other day but got distracted. Bought 3.

    • Nice! Glad we can help :)

      -Anton

  • Wife and I going to uk for 4 weeks we have iPhone SE which im sure is esim compatible any suggestions on what to get a normal sim or esim? And why

    • Hey for easy and convenience - eSIM is the way to go.

In terms of value though the physical Europe SIMs are still cheaper.

      -Anton

    • My wife and I are currently touring the UK. We bought Lycra mobile esims when we got here, just over the internet. Had the esims up and running in 10 minutes from our hotel room. 20gig for 30 days for 5 pound each from memory? Sorry we have been here for 3 weeks now and forgot. Check their website. But highly recommend.

Edit: the only issue is you need a UK address. I just picked the hotel address and it worked fine (so any address will do) It was just a billing address not postal. But they still sent me a message saying my physical Sims were on their way. Eh, I ignored it.
They still asked enough information to know I was an Australian resident.

      • I did the same. Lyca is great throughout Europe

    • +1

If you have time, order a physical Sim card for free from giffgaff (use ozbargain's referral system and get some credit as well) and it's delivered to your au address free of charge. You just need to have enough time in hand. Works within EU area also

      • So as myself and wife would need one can I just order the free sims one at a time? Would this mean if I used the referral system both different times both would get credit.
How is gif gag these days any good in uk coverage?
It’s only for 4 weeks but will be handy to have while we are there.
And when is best to pick a plan prior or when getting there?
If I did it on way there obviously would need to use wifi to set up or best to do it when in uk.

        • So, you get the referral credit after your first recharge… Atleast that was in my case so the referral credit is useless unless you need it for second month. You can activate overseas as well from memory but I may be wrong. You can definitely do it there and it takes minutes to do.

Word of warning, I activated mine in EU and wasn't planning on using it in UK at all but their terms only allows 14 days in EU if you haven't first activated it in UK.

          • +1

@rdhupar: Just would like to point out we sell the exact Giffgaff SIM 15 pounds plan for $29, if you recharge 15 pounds that's effectively $29 AUD.

With discount our plan is cheaper than if you order with them directly. Plus we ship from Australia.

            -Anton

            • @TravelKon: You had 25% off and 15% on these right? And you have them very often maybe i should wait for your next deal.
Also I’m reading these are for 5g phones right or will not work mine is still 4g

              • @bwatt72: It will work both with 4G and 5G.

                • @TravelKon: But was these not 15% or 25% recently and according to huff gaff I’m sure it said only compatible with 5g phones

                • @TravelKon: Did you have 25% or 15% off these recently?

  • @TravelKon ,
how quickly can you deliver a physical SIM card (Europe),
within Metro Sydney if purchased tomorrow morning (Monday 24/7) ?

    • Hello - express is around 3 business days.

      -Anton

      • Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm just looking at the delivery prices on the website,

        Free Shipping: $0 _ Delivery: 7 - 8 days
        Priority: $1.00 _ Delivery: 4 - 7 days
        Express: $6.00 _ Delivery: 2 - 4 days

So, which city do you post the SIM card from?

        EDIT:
I just saw the bottom of the website:
        TravelKon - Perth, Australia

        • Hey - yes that's right.

          -Anton

  • Hi team do you guys sell sim cards for Africa?

    • Hello - which part specifically?

You can see the list of "African" products here

      -Anton

      • Thanks Anton - we'll be in Namibia and Botswana so can see they aren't on the list. Any recommendation for a provider for these countries?

        • Hey unfortunately we currently do not have these countries covered 🙏

          -Anton

  • Wife and I going to uk for 4 weeks we have iPhone SE which im sure is esim compatible any suggestions on what to get a normal sim or esim? And why

  • How do I use esim in Japan? Is it
Compatible with iPhone X and iPhone 12?

    • +1

iPhone X is not compatible with eSIM.

iPhone 12 does have eSIM functionality - all you need to do is scan the QR code that will be sent to your email address -> then turn it on when you reach Japan (and data roaming).

      -Anton

  • I've searched your site; there doesn't appear to be any SIMs for Fiji, is that correct?

    • Hey - yes unfortunately we do not have any offering for Fiji at the moment and it is definitely on our radar.

      -Anton

  • Does anyone know how these compare with sims direct. The product looks and sounds identical specifically for the sim I am looking at, and even with this discount sims direct is cheaper.

    • Hey! we have sold thousands of SIMs and you can see our previous deal which was pretty popular (even more than the shop you mentioned =P).

Can you please share which product you are looking for that is cheaper, we are quite confident that we offer better value :)

      -Anton

      • Hi, it is the south east asia 13 countries for 30 day esim. They offer it for $45, plus a $5 discount for subscribing to their email list + 7% cashrewards Cashback.
You guys have the same product for $49 with 15% discount only brings it to $41.65

        • +1

          Hello!

The eSIM is definitely not the same, the $49 eSIM we offer include China which is a big inclusion and this is why it is priced higher (their one does not include China).

A more comparable eSIM would be the Asia 12 countries which is $44 before discount.

Plus it does not look like cashback is eligible if you use a code that is not listed on Cashrewards.

          Hope this helps :)

          -Anton

  • Just wondering if there's any expiry on the Japan eSIMs? Have a trip in Dec/Jan this year

    • The Japan eSIMs need to be used by 180 days so Dec/Jan is fine.

      -Anton

  • Hi All,

I am travelling to singapore and japan starting 24/12 - 13/1

Is it too early to purchase the e-sim?

    Thanks.
    K.

    • Hello no the eSIM last for 180 days so you are good to go!

      -Anton

  • +1

I'm confused. Your link to the "World Explorer 30 Days" sim ($72.25) says that the sim is valid for 365 days?

    https://www.travelkon.com.au/product/world-explorer-travel-s…

    • Apologies it should be 365 days, we have fixed this thanks for pointing it out.

      -Anton

  • I got confused too! Can OP confirm whether this will work for Egypt, Jordan and UAE? none of them seem to be listed…

    • The only one that covers all these countries are the World Explorer eSIM here

Note that this is different than the World Explorer physical SIM which does NOT cover the countries you mentioned.

  • Used TravelKon in Japan this March and using it again in Bali atm. Perfect, e-sims are deal breaker, you can keep your Oz simcard for calls, messages, 2FA, etc. We just activate it while going thru immi or customs. So simple and straight forward and if any issue, they reply asap on Whatsapp!

      Thanks for the review!

Yes we pride ourselves for providing fast response time on our live chat platforms - we know how important it is to troubleshoot the SIMs.

We are probably the only Aussie-owned travel SIMs provider that provide almost all day/night support (except when are sleeping!). Looking to get to the 24 hours support in the near future :)

    Thanks!

  • can i buy the esim and activate it next month? or does it court the date after check out?

    • Which eSIM product are you interested in?

Generally the eSIM expiry are either 90 days or 180 days after purchase.

Hey all, if you need a europe esim, look at offers from European telcos - esim done online, nice and easy. Pay 7 pounds per month for my 20GB esim that can be used in the EU.

  • Damn i just bought it 2 days ago.

    • Send us your order number and we will see if we can help :)

  • Dont buy from them.
They stuffed up my activation date and then saying what do you expect us to do about it.
Absolutely rubbish support when they stuff up

    • Hello we have stated that the SIM should work until the end of your trip.

And also to contact us if it doesn't.

      • How important are the activation dates? I just input an approximate date for my trips to Japan and Hong Kong.
