20% off Entire Order, No Minimum Purchase, Online only + $10.95 Delivery ($0 with $150 Order) @ MUJI

1330
BDRSZ3W5XPS6W47V

Muji store in Canberra recently closed. In the lead up to closing day, staff handed out 20% discount coupons. They gave me several and suggested I share with friends.

T&C
This promotion is valid for www.mujiaustralia.com only and offers a 20% discount on the entire order with no minimum purchase requirement. Limited to one use per customer. The discount is only valid until 31st August 2023. If not used until then, the discount will be forfeited.

The codes do not seem to be unique, i.e. same code on several coupons. These two
BDRSZ3W5 and XPS6W47V are on the ones I got.

Hope someone will find this useful. Thanks!

Update: Click and Collect services are no longer available as the store is closed.

Could we keep the casual racism off OzB, thanks mate.

I'm asian so i may be an expert as to what asian people shop at? no malice whatsover

          • +18

@Dream-cast: what's so foolish about an objective observation? i would actually like to hear an explanation if you can kindly enlighten me sir

            • +6

@bakemon0: Because homewares and stationary is used by white people too. Understand?

              • +15

@Dream-cast: you're mad because I'm misrepresenting the white people population in kitchen utensil usage? this is the hill you're willing to die on? I'm starting to doubt you've actually stepped inside an actual Muji store

                • -8

@bakemon0: What are you even talking about? There are English labels on all of the product packaging, the website is in English, the staff members speak English, the name of the store is a Japanese word…In English. Your objective observation is a fail. Please stop trying to sound clever.

        • -4

Lol the classic “I’m Asian so I can’t be racist”. Lumped in with “I’m not racist because I have a black friend” and “my brother is gay so I can’t be homophobic”

          • +3

@illusion99: This is a scripted NPC comment if ever I’ve seen one. Looks like the programmed outrage is deeply embedded, and not just an illusion after all

      • +33

Seems like a logical observation to me. Sad that we’ve come to a point where any mention of race becomes racism.

        • +14

Bakemon needs to be cancelled for observation that is race based … It is an internet requirement (sarcasm intended).. doesn't matter that every model on the site seem to also be of Asian origin…which may denote the main customer base….. Apologies if that observation may also sound racist.

          • +1

            @scud70: Yep, they're obviously a white supremacist.

          • +17

@scud70: A japanese-based store that literally has Japanese writing has a mainly Asian audience? suprised pikachu face

        • +3

It's not racist it's just a naive comment. Muji originated from Japan and has stores globally. It sells clothes, homewares and stationary. Pretty sure everyone buys this stuff no matter where they come from.

      • +2

Well I don't think that is racism. It's definitely what a company looks at when making decisions

      • +1

Fair go. I've never heard of this store but it's clearly targeted at Asians - find a model on the site that doesn't appear Asian! So yeah, if there's not enough Asians in Canberra then the store probably won't do well.

There's nothing racist about mentioning an ethnicity.

An RM Williams store probably wouldn't survive in a small Asian city either. And it's not insulting to Australians to suggest that.

White people don't shop there? Genuine question

      • According to comments above only Asians shop there because it has Japanese writing and is from Japan.

        • +1

Another commenter said only Japanese people shop there because Chinese people don’t like Japanese

          • @illusion99: There are other Asians than just Japanese and Chinese, you know

            • +1

@Mr Frodo: Tell the other commentator not me

              • +1

                @illusion99: Ok.
Other commentators- there are other Asians than just Japanese and Chinese, you know

                • +4

@Mr Frodo: Also forgot to put the standard comment “but I’m Asian so I think I know what Asians there are”

      • Haha hillarious side track this has gone down.

Nearest MUJI to me seems to mainly be for white people.

Most Asians in the area are mainland Mandarin speakers, which doesn't really seem like a MUJI demographic. The stuff is not cheap compared to other options, and it's not branded, and it's too… Japanese.

    • Canberra is pretty multicultural due to its high student population. Not sure of breakdown of all Asian ancestries, but the number of individuals with a chinese ancestry is double that of the Australian average. They tend to not like Muji because it is Japanese though, and there's nothing quite like Asian "rivalry".

      • isn't Uni-qlo Japanese too? that seems to be supported unanimously, what's the difference? genuinely curious

        • +1

Uniqlo has a pretty large presence in China and have substantial links to CCP leadership. It's something like 1000+ stores, not including Taiwan (which Uniqlo considers as being part of China). Muji has had a fair few controversies with the CCP in the past such as listing Taiwan as a dedicated "country of origin" which doesn't toe the party line.

      • My guess is just not enough population around Canberra area

    • +8

Also asian here, love Muji, all these down voters thinking this is racism have clearly never been to the store 😆

    • +3

I'm asian and this is what first came to my mind. Not sure why people are negging this.

    • Maybe also consider the fact that some non-asian internet police are not interested in MUJI simply because of the price? hehe. Kmart rubbish looks way more attractive to them.

    • Muji store in Canberra recently closed.

but they re-opened in Jan? @debb

Love Muji products I tried (albeit mostly stationary though. Not sure about their other products)
Shame they are closing. Hope they stay in Australia as I love finding some very well priced gems from these guys.

    • Can always order Muji stationary when the AmazonJP deals are feeling generous.

Gonna go see compare and see if I really need more gel click pens.

      • Who would want pens and paper that doesnt move.

  • +3

    Love Muji and their quality.

    • does it stack with

Get 10% off your first order when you sign up!

      • +1

I guess the "10% off first order " usually needs a code and normally only one code is accepted at a time.

  • +1

awesome, might grab some of their shoe trees since trimly haven't run in a sale in forever and i need some. cheers!

  • +2

Good quality but a bit overpriced.

    • +2

Which brands are cheaper with good quality?

    • Unfortunately most things in Oz are overpriced (Uniqlo, TH, etc)

      • +8

How is Uniqlo overpriced? Are they not objectively the best value in a number of product categories?

        • +2

cheaper in jp from my understanding, but the pricing is still incredibly fair.

          • +1

@lachlantula: n = 1 but I bought a Uniqlo jacket in Japan and found the same one about double the price here

          • @lachlantula: Cheaper in Japan, same price most everywhere else. More expensive in other countries like Malaysia

            • @nea ozb: If I'm not wrong Uniqlo is cheaper in SG (discounting exchange rates)

        • MUJI, Uniqlo, anything else that commonly exists in Asia, is about half price outside of Australia. Bigger range, too.

  • Was just at Chadstone and noticed this place I'd never seen before on the map, was wondering what it was about the time this deal was posted.

    This is heavy.

  • +2

Awesome, thank you!! Now I just need to them to stock online literally any of the things on my wishlist

  • The website design is really stupid, cannot differentiate items in cart that was out of stock near you and you need to pick it out by yourself.

  • O/t

One of my Nepalese friends said that Muji is a curse word in Nepali and everytime they see the store name they giggle. I think it means public hair, or something..

Definitely buying the cheapest thing you can get as a gift for him, for the giggles

    • +3

      Nothing wrong with public hair

      • +6

        He must meant private hair

    • It roughly translates as 'plain' or 'no brand' from Japanese, which is what their entire schtick is. So you're not going to find anything with a big Muji logo plastered onto it.

  • +1

    Thanks friend

  • WHY CLOSING ??
    NOOOOOOOOOO

    • It’s sad to me too when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

  • C&C not available for a photo frame I'm after. $10.95 delivery makes the deal not worth it for me
