I have one of these and it is AWFUL to configure…

… However once configured, it is a beautiful piece of kit for the price.

    • May I ask what made this so hard to configure? I would imagine it works out of the box as a dumb unmanaged switch? Were you trying to create a vlan or set QoS?

  • Interesting that is seems to offer the full 16Gps bandwidth. Switches must have come a ways since I last looked a few years ago.
The datasheet for the 108Ev3 indicated that in case anyone was wondering.

    • Most (if not all) switches use ASIC's to do the switching so you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a switch these days that wasn't non-blocking.

Please tell us if it is good or bad. :)

  • Does it have POE ports for connecting security cameras?

    • No.

  • Good price for a simple managed switch but these days you’d want PoE and you’d probably want more centralized management like ubiquiti etc so can understand why it’s cheap

Routers now have a lot of ports and can perform VLAN tagging and all that too

  • Any reason to go this over the GS108v4 when it's on sale? Just want something that can guarantee 1Gb per port

    • Different usecase - this is a managed switch. If you simply want 1Gb per port and don't care about VLANs etc., then sure, it's worth waiting
