May I ask what made this so hard to configure? I would imagine it works out of the box as a dumb unmanaged switch? Were you trying to create a vlan or set QoS?
Interesting that is seems to offer the full 16Gps bandwidth. Switches must have come a ways since I last looked a few years ago.

Most (if not all) switches use ASIC's to do the switching so you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a switch these days that wasn't non-blocking.

No.
Good price for a simple managed switch but these days you’d want PoE and you’d probably want more centralized management like ubiquiti etc so can understand why it’s cheap
Routers now have a lot of ports and can perform VLAN tagging and all that too
Any reason to go this over the GS108v4 when it's on sale? Just want something that can guarantee 1Gb per port
Different usecase - this is a managed switch. If you simply want 1Gb per port and don't care about VLANs etc., then sure, it's worth waiting
I have one of these and it is AWFUL to configure…
… However once configured, it is a beautiful piece of kit for the price.
