Hi everyone,
I’ve been out of the country for about 5 years but still had around 350k Qantas points that I never got around to using. Unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention and they lapsed a few weeks ago, reducing my balance to zero. I called Qantas up and they luckily gave me a way to get them back: accumulate 2500 points within 6 months from 2 different sources. However, I do have a small issue, I am not in the country so several classic ways of accumulating points are off the table.
So far my options that I can see are:
- Qantas wines. I can get the points from a bonus after spending around $120. In this case I’d probably ask my mum or a friend if they want a fancy bottle of wine.
- some kind of bonus points with Superhero
- Booking an experience or hotel with Qantas travel
Do y’all have any other suggestions? As I said I’m not in the country so a bonus at woolworths on everyday rewards or a credit card bonus or something probably won’t work.
Additionally I had around 100k points with velocity who offered a much worse deal: acquire 5k points by September 30 and I can get half my points back. I don’t see this happening and I struggled to use velocity points at all anyway but if anyone has tips on this one I’d love to hear it.
Thanks!
I think Qantas Wines is the best option, should be pretty easy to find something with 2.5k bonus points, and points get credited very quickly after purchase.
