Wall Mount Bracket for Sony XR83A90J

Thank you to everyone who responded to my earlier post. Based on your excellent feedback, I have spoken with my builder who also agrees that additional noggins is the way to go.

Now onto the brackets to use for wall mounting the television, specifically Sony XR83A90J. Has anyone here wall-mounted this specific television? What brackets did you go with? Would love to hear your experience using your chosen brackets. This television weighs approximately 42 kg without its stand. On their website, Sony recommend using the SU-WL450 brackets, which they no longer sell.

I have looked at some other brands and like this one from Vogel. Anyone here used this? Any other brands that you can recommend?

Lastly, are there mounts that also allow adjusting the height of the TV (i.e. has the capability to move the TV’s position vertically?

Edit: I don’t need the functionality to change the viewing angle, so a fixed mount is also an option if that is the better way to go.

Cheers!

I don't have the 83, but an older 77 which weighs 39.4kg without the stand.
I've been using a Sanus bracket which 'fits most 32-90 inch flat-panel & curved TVs up to 68kg' for the last two years and have had no issues. https://www.costco.com.au/c/Sanus-Simplicity-TV-Wall-Mount-S… Costco also sell a version that is more similar to the Vogels one you posted, without the price tag. https://www.costco.com.au/c/Sanus-Simplicity-TV-Wall-Mount-S…

    • Thanks! You are now the second person that I know who has used a Sanus bracket. Does the TV stick out from the wall a lot? I prefer something that will flush the TV against the wall as much as possible.

To the back of the TV, it's about 6cm. To the front, it's about 9cm.

I have the same TV mounted using the Ezymount VP-F80 also called VP-F80B. It has a tilt funtion that I don't use, but the best part is that it has some horizontal movement so you can hopefully center it perfectly to your wall even if the studs are not perfectly placed. I think I got it for $110 on ebay some time back. No frills, very easy to install, relatively cheap mount for a large TV. Highly recommend it!

    • Thanks! This looks good and has received some decent reviews. And more importantly, it is not that expensive (currently selling for $149 at JB HI-FI).

And in case you wanted to know (saw your comment above 😄) the distance from the wall to the front face of the TV is ~9cm. The TV is not as thin as some of the LGs, mainly due to the heatsink, so I think it will stick a bit from the wall no matter what mount you use.

Thanks for this. Agreed, the TV is not as thin as the equivalent Sony MiniLED TV. We were contemplating to go with the thinner MiniLED variant, but eventually went with the OLED despite the thickness. 9cm is acceptable 🙂.

  • how come the Vogels are so much more expensive?

I need something that has a lot of movement and can come out from the wall a fair amount.

  • $750 for a wall mount? That is just crazy

  • This gets me wondering how millions of other people have installed TVs before.

I just used one of these brackets in the link below to hang a tv for a friend a couple of weeks back. It was only a 65 inch and about 23kg but this bracket is rated for 100kg.

Cheap at $59, certainly strong enough and had some adjustability in the height with the uprights. Pretty sure his was 400 x 400 Vesa which is what yours is.

    • Thank you! Supprts up to 85 inches TVs. The Sony TV is 83 inches, so should work. And its weight is also within the acceptable limit.
