Purchased an 83-inch Sony XR83A90J which will be delivered once our house is built. I plan to wall mount this television in the media room. Are there any considerations that I need to take into account knowing that it will be wall mounted? I have already asked the builder to install conduits for cables. Is there anything else that I need to ask the builder specifically for this?
Wall Mounting Sony 83-Inch Television
Comments
I had my builder put in a big wooden plank, else it would be me trying to find the frame. It makes hanging it up easier.
Frame>wood>wall. Thanks, will ask the builder if this is better than noggins.
You could ask the builder to install extra noggins between the wall studs or some noggins rotated 90 degrees so that the 90/70mm edge is exposed rather than the 45/35mm edge. to give yourself more options for fixing the bracket to the wall. Otherwise you will be limited to fixings every 600mm (standard stud spacing).
edit: wording
Thank you. I am not sure I understand exactly what you are saying. But I will run this by the builder and see what they say.
As above, ask for extra noggins (wood) in the wall to give you more mounting options. Also, ask for a power point or two at the middle of the wall (behind the TV) to avoid needing to run the power down etc.
Could just ask the builder to place an extra set of outlets (aerial, network, etc) at the location that would be behind the TV too.
For general media room setting, you may also wish to consider installing conduit or ducts for speaker wires etc in the ceilings or behind the walls. Eg. your amp might be located near the TV and if you're after (say) ceiling speakers, then have the conduit or even cable placed to avoid you needing to remove internal walls/ceilings to access the route/path.
And it you want to go almost flat against the wall: Something like this
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, thanks for the reminder. I will ask for power points behind the TV. I will also make sure that conduits are in the wall and ceiling. I have a Bose sound system (sound bar 900 along with the bass module 700 and wireless surround speakers) that I will install at the same time. The issue is that even though the surround sound speakers are wireless, they still require power and they have these huge AC adapters, similar to laptops. I need a way to hide these. No idea how I can achieve this.
you could add ethernet if you plan on streaming from tv.
if you are adding power point, include one for soundbarYes, I have already planned an ethernet port in the media room and more in other parts of the house.
Don't mount it too high.
Thanks for the tip.
r/tvtoohigh is great to browse
Why don't you get the tv recessed so it's flush with the wall ? And get some Phillips mood lights or what ever they're called
Nope. Just need to ensure that the wall will support it, and that the cables are at an appropriate height.
