  • Funnily enough my store has 3, but I already have the Google doorbell lol

If stock checker shows 1, its likely customer returned for fault that they havent checked out of inventory

any true ozbargainer would stay away from the ring ecosystem because of their subscription.

If you are paying for the subscription (even when buying this doorbell cam at this discounted price), you're going to be paying $50 a year, if you expect it to last you more than a couple of years you are already better off having paid for something more expensive that doesn't need subscription for the same features.

….if you aren't paying for the subscription, well it defeats the purpose of even getting the ring doorbell as some of the best functionality requires it.

    • Agree. Reolink is where it's at

      • reolinkfanclub

      • What reolinks can you link us to with these features?

        • look it up… it's reolink's only 2 doorbells (both the same thing just 1 is a POE version and the other is a wifi version).

    • If you don't pay for subscription, you are no longer subsidising the Amazon network public monitoring network and don't get to record video or use remote functions - which are great if you need them.

What you're left with is a motion detecting (togglable) auto-answering (if desired) video doorbell you can utilise with any mobile phone or, if you want to fork out a bit more, an Amazon "Show" the latter which will still offer to do your shopping for you and will be desperate, after a couple of years of being totally ignored, to tell you a pathetic dad joke.

    • So the only thing the sub gives you is the recording feature?

      • A little more, especially if combined with the "Show" such as joining a local community.

        The subscription gives you
        - Person alerts
        - Rich notifications & custom alerts
        - Video history storage
        - Video saving & sharing
        - Video recording
        - Snapshot feature

Without the subscription all you're really getting is a 2 way intercom doorbell with a camera, and if that's all you want then that's fine, but you don't need a ring doorbell to do that, and for a little bit more you can get so much more without ongoing costs

        • I should add that the person alerts feature is in my opinion a MUST HAVE for all modern doorbell's.

Essentially, instead of just detecting motion, it will be able to determine if it's a person (no need to worry about rustling trees being detected as motion).

I find this comes in especially useful because i am notified when someone is approaching the house before the press the doorbell, or like in most cases, the amazon guy doesn't even ring my doorbell. You can then also set it to record when it detects a person.
This is all stuff that the ring doorbell can do as well so long as you pay the subscription.

From what i have heard from other people that have ring doorbells their feedback about it goes 1 of 2 ways:
1- Paying the subscription and saying"Meh, i'm fine with paying the subscription"
2- Not paying the subscription and then giving up on ring to then go buy a proper doorbell camera.

I don't hear about anybody buying the ring doorbell, not using the subscription, and enjoying it.

    • R8ng is the best there is and besides what is 4$ a month? Really? People spend more than that for a pack of gum and for a small cup coffee numerous times in a day.

Besides, got mine for 0$. 🙃

      • False equivalency

  • Has anyone been lucky enough to get one?

  • Anyone using blink door bell? Any feedback?
