10000mAh Powerbank

Hi guys, my anker has stopped quick charging so looking for a new powerbank. I need something 10,000mah that I can carry around with me and quick charge. Upon resesarching apparently the charmast ones on amazon the batteries aren't actually rated 10,000. I'll be travelling a bit so need something actually 10,000 which can quick charge a samsung phone.

If you are referring to this comment they probably did not consider the conversion from 3.7V to 5V.

    real vs rated capacity

This is normal and will apply to every single powerbank where the advertised capacity is rated at 3.7V.

What is your criteria and budget? How many usb ports? Do you need USBA or just USB C?

I bought the charmast one from prime day but hasn't arrived yet. I assume the real capacity will be close to ~6000mAh. If you need more it is worth considering 20k power banks but they will be larger and heavier.

You can also look through the power bank tag on ozb for current/past deals and read up on the comments.

    • Thanks I ended up just getting another 10,000 anker, i'm looking for another small 5000 one to carry with me. No budget just looking for the smallest size which is actually 5000.

  • Contact Anker support, you might just get something. Make a note that it still works, just the quick charging is defective. They usually have very good support.

  • There are so many Charmast 10,000mah batteries on amazon. Most of them only do 15W output which is pretty slow.

I suggest sticking to Anker. A good manufacturer will be very clear on the specs like what sort of output can it generate. 5v x 3A, 9v x 2A, etc. Then you a clear sense of what sort of fast charging speed to expect.

  • Anker is a good brand. so Is Cygnett. Belkin is good but comparatively more expensive.

I have 3 of these, they are much smaller than any previous 10,000 powerbanks I've had, about the size of a pack of cards. One in the laptop bag and one in the carry-on powerbank slot and one at home.

    • @bmxr does it has fast charging (to charge the powerbank itself) ? how long to recharge it from zero to full ?

      • Yes it does work with fast chargers - the seller has answered that question on the Amazon page if you click more questions a few times. Can confirm that it charges very quickly using my google fast charger. Can't tell you how long from 0 to 100 as I've never timed it, but at a rough guess maybe an hour? I don't know.

  • I've just got a Heymix one for $22 something on special at amazon and I'd say it's more around 8000mah but overall very pleased with it and their support is very good from experience.

    • you are brave with heymix
but looking at the dimension vs the one above your post. heymix is like double the size for the same power

      hey ‎18.3 x 11.1 x 2.5 cm; 270 Grams
      veek 10.59 x 6.86 x 1.6 cm; 170 Grams

  • When buying in 2023, look for something with USB-PD, both in and out, as that is the future. (unless on a minimal budget.)

They use mAh because most people are stupid and easily impressed.
Why doesn't the redundant thousand-milli put people off?

Engineers measure capacity in Watt-hours. (1Wh = 3600 joules). Then the marketing guys translate that for consumers.

    10 Ah at 3.7V is 37Wh.
